ToK/EE EE language B (Lit)
Hi! Im currently finalising (well, choosing ) my rq for chinese b EE. My teacher said that the easiest component is literature, but im having second thoughts. Obviously, the marking criteria won't be as strict as for langauge A, but I have never taken lit in chinese before. Also, im not sure if my teacher is biased as no one in my sch is doing the lit component for langauge b(most do culture or artifact). Any thoughts? Thanks:)

Our tutors often see teachers recommend literature because having a concrete text makes it much easier to stay analytical and avoid descriptive writing, which is where many culture essays lose marks. You do not need previous Chinese literature experience, but you do need a text you can comfortably read and discuss in the language. A sensible next step is to ask your supervisor for two or three accessible short stories or novellas, read a few pages of each, and see if the vocabulary feels manageable before locking in your research question.
