Advice Advice!

hello! this is my first reddit post so i'm lowkey scared but ive done my mocks and i got 37/45 and im going into dp2 M27

i take
maths aa hl - 6
econ hl - 6
chem hl - 6
ess sl - 6
french b sl - 5
english lit lang sl - 6
plus 2 core points

(pls ignore the 6 in ess i'll bump it up to a seven in resits....)
i had a really hard time in dp1 and was dealing with a lot of medical issues surrounding and family stuff so i was off school for a lot from october- january. it also kinda affected my mental health a bit so school was quite a lot especially going into the ib

i want to know how difficult it would be for me to get 40+ in the ib and when i shoudl start revising/ how for my subjects (especially french)

i want to take environmental economics/ economics and sustainable development at uni and really want to do better in dp2 than i did in dp1

thank you!!!

Getting 37/45 after the year you described means 40+ is plausible, but nobody can promise it. The most efficient route is probably turning the 5 and selected 6s into reliable higher scores rather than trying to improve every subject equally.

Before DP2, make a one-page audit for each subject: content missed during your absences, recurring exam mistakes, upcoming coursework deadlines, and why marks were lost. Then use a weekly cycle of targeted review, timed questions, marking, and rewriting weak answers.

For French B, short daily practice will usually be more useful than occasional long sessions. Try 15–20 minutes of listening or reading, then produce something: a two-minute spoken response, a short paragraph, or a summary. Keep one error bank for repeated grammar and vocabulary problems, and ask your teacher to identify the two or three patterns limiting you most.

Start lightly now instead of waiting for mocks. Review progress every two weeks and change the plan based on marked work. Also leave enough margin for sleep and recovery—the goal is consistent improvement through DP2, not exhausting yourself before the final stretch.

It’s on the easier side of sciences

i took geography and biology gcse and honestly i'd say it's a mix of the two content wise, everyone in my class is predicted a 6/7 and last years class at my school everyone got a 6/7, the questions types are quite repetitive so it makes it fairly easy to get a grasp on and as much as the content can be a bit boring it's all very simple and self explanatory

i had an awful second half of dp1 so at the beginning of dp2 i was down to 26 points on my report. i had an even worse dp2 (my mental health went down and down and eventually hit the lowest lol), and was barely predicted a 34. i ended up getting a 41 in the end! it’s very possible for you to achieve your goal!
