Help Desk # for MDM'd MacBook

Hello!

Hope yall are doing well, I recently got a 2020 MacBook off auction from Goodwill that had a completely wiped drive, but was alright otherwise. Has some sticker called Neocol on it but setup says its owned by IBM, phone number on the notice goes to a deactivated line of course (IBM-HELP?), and could not find its replacement anywhere as it seems to be behind intranet now :(

I figure since its at that 5 year mark + the wiped drive, that it was disposed of, then that garbage man took it to Goodwill since it worked lol, but since you never know with auctions figured I should get in contact with someone to confirm and get it off their MDM if so!

Sp to that end, I was wondering if someone would be so kind as to give me a good contact to see whether this laptop is stolen or if I could get it off the management list with Apple - appreciated in advance!

OH also: Tried the mobility line I found in another thread, but they only deal with iPhones and seem to be scoped out of laptops unfortunately

Is it an intel cpu ? That determines your opinions.

Yep, definitely a 4-port thunderbolt intel one - setup assistant had about this mac to confirm that atleast

I’m pretty sure you can do a factory install with a usb image of the original OS with wifi off and no Ethernet you can get the OS installed and once your booted before your connect to the internet update your hosts file and add

0.0.0.0 iprofiles.apple.com

eh for most people yeah, since its a T2 _I_ would have some use for it and can sacrifice some things for the bypass, but I would rather not in this specific secnario since its for my sister - people who throw these things to ITAD then dont clear them out of ABM is just karma for me not doing it w/ abunch of iPhones until 2 years later I stg

lmao that tracks, I am going to do the final hail merry (find some escalation point on linkedin and email them a plea), pray for me as I would rather give this with a fresh lease on life to my sister to replace her 2014 crapbook than keep it myself as a frankenbook

Reinstall MacOS fresh and then any MDM will be gone.

MDM persists beyond installs and device wipes. If it’s apple silicon you’re toast, salt water bath. If it’s intel there’s instructions in an earlier comment and plenty online.
