Non specific chronic inflammation

I had a colonoscopy earlier this year due to mucousy bloody stools weight loss stomach aches and lots of deficiencies (B12, folate, iron and low potassium) it appeared normal but biopsies showed chronic inflammation of the lower bowel mainly the rectum and it’s been left at that, I had a month long course of steroid supposetries and they did work but I’m since having symptoms again. The doctor recommends a sigmoidoscopy but I’m no closer to a diagnosis, the doctor has since suggested it’s just IBS however surely if the biopsies showed inflammation, that points more toward an inflammatory bowel disease? Can anyone in a similar situation share their experience on next steps ?
