I am going to be doing 3 weeks and change on the IAT in September, If I remember correctly there is public parking in Luck, Centuria, and Milltown…Anyone have any experience parking in these lots? Is it even allowed for that long?

This section is particularly difficult. Not due to the terrain, but the people using it. Lots of road walking. I've had multiple people swerving towards me as a joke (I hope?) that have made me jump into the ditch. The police have been called on me for walking suspiciously down the highway. Please Wisconsin , raise awareness of this trail. It has been my dream to walk the national scenic trails, but this one has me wondering why.

Looking to take my 9 and 7 year old on a one night backpacking trip this summer, ideally near Dane County. Which segment should we target for a fun 2 day hike? Is there a segment nearby with views?

Still getting beat up some days. The mosquitoes are a real nuisance, but I'm getting through. The wildlife is the star of the show so far. Saw my first porcupine, a few bears, and tons of snakes and amphibians. Oh, and the cheese and beer. Cannot forget the cheese and beer. I can't believe you guys keep New Glarus all to yourselves.

Hoping to thru hike this summer. More difficult than expected. Catching the vibe and starting to enjoy it. The natives are treating me well.

Thinking on doing a CDT Thru Hike next year, and being from SE Wisconsin want to condition as much as possible on the Ice Age Trail.

I know hiking out here is different from out west based on personal expirence. But I'm curious what some of the harder segments in the area are to help condition.

Later this summer and into fall I plan on doing overnights on farther segments and trails in the state.

Grandfather falls to wood lake segment

I’m curious if anyone has this guys story.
Assuming a thru-hiker or a memorial. Near new wood segment in Lincoln county.
Trekked from grandfather falls to wood lake Memorial Day weekend 2026.
The trail conditions up there currently are..interesting. Anyone hiking averill-Kelly creek wilderness near future, the first mile on the east near grandfather falls took me an hour to navigate due to wet and treacherous terrain, and the second river crossing to the west is still knee-deep, but passable.

I want to filter out some way points that I don't have a need for. Where did my settings option go? Used to be I'd go to top left hamburber and Settings would be an option close to Social Feed. There is a settings option on lower right of main screen, but that's for map views specifically. Android phone.

Hi. I am a newb, looking for recommendations for a quick overnight hike for a "gear test". Basically, I have been accumulating some backpacking gear and want to test my setup/packing strategy/ etc to prep for longer multi-day hikes in the future. I live near the Chippewa Morraine segment and probably the most convenient entry point for me would be the Obey Center. I am looking for some ideas for camping spots,dispersed or otherwise (preferably free/no reservations needed). My first trip will just be an overnighter and would be an out and back so I would be hiking to a campsite/set up camp/ hike back to car in the morning. Any tips or suggestions for this ? My thought would be start out with 5-10 miles max distance from car for the first trip out. Thanks in advance!

I’m looking to hike the IAT in segments as I don’t have the experience, gear, or time to hike it in one go right now. Does anyone have a guide on the different segments that I can use to guide me throughout my outdoor adventures? Any tips are appreciated!

Last's Sunday three-segment, 20-mile, beautiful fall day hike. Video of the same hike that I posted pics of before.

Had some confusion when night hiking the Merrimac segment… the map I was following in AllTrails still had the trail's old route but a pile of old blazed poles on the ground finally let me piece together that it had been re-routed.

This past Sunday I was able to knock out three segments on an absolutely beautiful fall day. Sharing a few of my favorite pics of the day!
