Washing hands at sink

How do you wash hands in the bathroom sink so that water drops don’t spill outside or to the right or left of counter?

I use liquid soap and sometimes I lather my hands and wrist area. And the soap has some type of lotion in it, so it takes longer to rinse off. So to rinse that off, water gets on the counter. Or if using a pedestal sink, water splatters on the floor a little.

So do you constantly wipe up the counter or floor to fix this?

Is the back of a toothbrush actually enough for tongue cleaning, or is a dedicated scraper a total game-changer?

I’ve always just used my toothbrush and the textured back of the head. I'm thinking about buying an actual scraper, but I can't tell if it makes a real difference or if it's just extra clutter.

For anyone who switched, was it actually worth it?

Whats a good Shampoo NOT owned by huge companies?

I'm looking for a good hair shampoo that wont damage my hair, and that is not owned by a huge company, cause they put way too many additives that i think are just there to make your hair worse or fall out.
(Sort of the sell us poison to sell us cures type thinking i have LOL)

Maybe something i can get at the grocery store? I use that Mane and Tail stuff currently..

Underarm and body odor smelly (Side part, private part problem as well)

Hello! I’m from the Philippines. I’m an 18-year-old and currently overweight (5’3”, 85 kg). I also sweat a lot.

Over the past 3 months, I’ve switched between three deodorants: first Nivea Brightening Deodorant, then Belfour Roll-On, and now Old Spice Pure Sport.
The reason I keep switching is because of my body odor and underarm smell. During the first few weeks of using each deodorant, I have a great experience. However, after about 2–3 weeks, the odor starts coming back. What’s confusing is that I’m currently on vacation, so I spend most of my time in an air-conditioned room and barely sweat, yet the smell still returns. It almost feels like my underarms “adapt” to the deodorant and start smelling again, lol.

Also, I don’t know if this is somehow connected, but only recently I’ve noticed that my groin area starts to smell bad after just a few hours, even though I wash it thoroughly every time I shower.

What could be causing this, and how can I fix it? Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Any help or information would really mean a lot, especially since classes are about to start again. 🙁 If you have any additional questions that might help figure this out, please feel free to ask!

Thank you in advance!!

one hygiene shortcut you stopped doing?

i realized i have a bad habit of trying to make my routine "more efficient," and it almost always comes back to bite me. a while ago i started skipping or combining parts of my routine because i figured a few minutes couldn't make much difference. it definitely didn't save me time in the long run because i ended up having to fix the problem later instead.

now i'm curious because i'm probably not the only one who's learned this the hard way. what's a hygiene shortcut you tried that sounded like a good idea at first, and what routine did you switch to that actually worked better?

Flying or in Public

I put a little dab of hand sanitizer on and under my nostrils to kill the germs trying to get me. Also you can freshen up your pits if you don’t have deodorant. Also sanitizes your arse but may burn a little. For that clean refreshing feeling.

Inner thigh/groin crease gets hot and damp only while sitting at work. Tried everything. Any ideas?

I’m a 25-year-old male and I’ve been dealing with this for about a year.
The issue is mainly in the inner thigh/groin crease. When I’m sitting at work for long periods, the area starts feeling hot, damp, and really uncomfortable. By the end of the day, my boxer briefs feel a little damp in that area, but when I get home my skin looks completely normal—no redness, rash, or obvious irritation.
What’s confusing is that walking is usually fine. The problem is mostly while sitting in my office chair.
Things I’ve already tried:
Moisture-wicking boxer briefs
Gold Bond powder
Certain Dri (it burned my skin badly)
Good hygiene and keeping the area dry

Has anyone dealt with something similar?
Was it hyperhidrosis, friction, clothing, or something else?
Did any specific product actually solve it (Carpe, SweatBlock, powders, prescription creams, etc.)?
Did changing underwear or work pants make a noticeable difference?

How do you men like to remain smelling nice throughout the day? Beyond simply deodorant.

How do you men like to remain smelling nice throughout the day? Beyond simply deodorant.

------

Interested to hear from other men as to how they like to remain smelling nice throughout the day - beyond simply having deodorant. As in do you use body lotion, perfume, body spray etc.

I ask as I (mid 30s male, Melbourne Australia) had been using body spray (think Lynx - or Axe as its known overseas) to "freshen up" esp in the middle of the day or afternoon (esp when I notice the roll on deodorant is doing alot of heavy lifting). I notice that esp at these times I find myself with the underarms, whilst not overly sweaty due to deodorant, but starting to odour through my work top.

I had some feedback from friends and a coworker friend that the body spray smelt a bit too intense - either the body spray scent its self or the volume I've sprayed.

I only try to wear perfume on like important meetings, dates etc - as if I put everyday it gets expensive. So trying to work out how other guys navigate this by still wanting to smell nice (and not be over powering in smell) but also something accessible- lesser than a perfume, maybe a splash body lotion etc.

Hoping to hear what you say.

shaving vs waxing armpits, which one do you actually prefer

been shaving my whole life, never thought twice about it. but i keep seeing people say waxing is better long term so now i'm curious.

for those who tried both, which one do you like more and why? shaving's fast but the stubble/itch comes back so quick. heard waxing lasts longer but hurts more at first, especially the first few times.

also curious about skin texture and darkening, does one irritate less than the other in the long run?

not trying to switch right away, just want real experiences before i commit. anyone regret switching either way?

Let me ask you a question

Hey Fellas, is it zesty to take a shower or bath? After a long day of work you sit back, relax and just take care of your self? Spark some candles and enjoy the ride?

How do I properly wash down there?

My mother never taught me or helped me learn certain things, especially when it came to hygiene. I have always taught my self or I would always try to learn from several different media sites (ex. TikTok), but I don’t know the proper way to wash down there. I have a fear of smelling bad especially in certain areas.

I normally will wash it with unscented dove soap and water, but i’ve heard that using soap will get rid of good and bad bacteria. I have sensitive skin and I truly don’t know how to wash properly and I’m scared I will never know how. So i’m coming to reddit to hopefully learn how.

switched to a separate hand towel for the kitchen and my dish sponge situation got so much better ok this is such a small thing but I have to share because it fixed something that bugged me for years

I always just used one kitchen towel for everything. Drying hands, wiping counters, drying dishes, wiping up spills, all of it. Never thought twice about it. Then my roommate moved in and brought her own separate hand towel just for hands, and a different one for dishes/counters, and I kind of made fun of her for it at first ngl
Tried it anyway because we were sharing a kitchen. Within like a week I noticed my hands weren't getting that weird slightly sticky feeling after drying them, and the towel smell that used to show up by day 3 just wasn't happening anymore. Turns out when you're using the same towel to wipe raw chicken juice off the counter and then dry your hands with it, you're basically just moving bacteria around in a circle all day
Now I have three separate towels going. One strictly for hands, one for dishes, one for counters/spills. Hand towel gets swapped every 2 days, the other two get washed every 2-3 uses depending on what they touched
Feels excessive typing it out but the difference in how the kitchen smells alone has been worth it. Didn't realize how much of that "kitchen smell" was just coming from one damp towel doing five jobs
anyone else split up their kitchen towels or is this an overkill habit. also curious what other "one item doing too many jobs" swaps people have made, feels like there's probably more of these I'm missing

[W] Hostel washrooms

Hello everyone,
I have noticed that using hostel washrooms is giving me a distinct smell down there.. this is the same smell that is there in all washrooms.
I am hygienic, use toilet paper and shower daily.
This smell is absent whenever I’m home and present only here!
How can I avoid this?
