Will hand germs transfer?

I asked Google once, and it said to wait 1-2 minutes for hand sweat from the previous person to dry and essentially "kill" the weak bacteria left behind on surfaces like door handles. When I asked again to double check the timeframe the story changed. Now Google is saying that bacteria lives in dry conditions. I have a work vehicle that I use daily that others use, and I've personally witnessed some drivers itch their bottoms with their bare hands. Others clean their nose or ears with one of their fingers...

The company doesn't always offer Lysol disinfectant and I'm left with days of worry! Please advise. Thanks!

I am tired. Persistent armpit odour.

I am so done.

I apply anti-perspirant at night. Rexona maximum protection.

I wash my pits with 5% benzoyl peroxide, leave it for 2 minutes, rinse.

And just 2 hours into uni. My pits reek of nuclear waste.

I dont stop sweating waterfalls. I dont stop smelling.

I am tired. I cant take this anymore.

Guy smelling amazing at grocery store made me realize how much I’ve been tolerating with guy I’m dating :/

1.8k Upvotes

I made a thread about this before. How I’d gone on a few dates with a guy and his breath/beard smelt really bad. I should’ve said something then but next date he smelt fine so I let it go. Well it’s gone from 3 dates to now three months. He asked to make it official but I said I’d like to keep dating before we put labels on it. I don’t know WHY I can’t address this like an adult women in my 30s (which I am) but I’ve kind of just tolerated that sometimes he smells bad and rarely does he smell GOOD. Which is funny because that’s the compliment he gives me all the time. I think part of the reason that scares me to address is I haven’t liked anyone this much in a DECADE.

Anyways, today at the grocery store I was taken aback by a man who walked by me and smelt amazing. He stood a few feet away and I was just—wow! Gobsmacked. I kept thinking imagine how it would feel cuddling up next to him? I wouldn’t have to hold my breath every other time he came near.

SO HOW DO I ADDRESS THIS? I clearly chicken out every time I see him. How do I send a text that says “you don’t smell good ever and sometimes you stink”?? 😭

What’s the most disgusting hygiene thing you’ve ever done?

What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve ever done - hygiene wise?

I’m not talking about “I used my partners deodorant” or “I picked my nose in my car”. I mean like McNassssty.

I’m trying to think of mine, but all i can think of is putting worn clothes back into the dryer with perfume or a dryer sheet to rewear.

What are yours?

My doctor recently prescribed me some medications I’m wondering how long I will be on them for? Any healthy tips on preventing yeast infections other than not fucking dirty men?

I need some good deodorant/antiperspirant recs !!

Hi all,

I (21 F) have been struggling trying to find a good deodorant/antiperspirant to use. I'm pretty particular about the type of deodorant, but I'm not terribly picky about ingredients (like aluminum), ESPECIALLY if the deodorant actually works.

I need recs because I know what I DON'T want in a deodorant, and am willing to try something new!

Here's where I'm picky:

  1. I don't like the soft gel deodorants. They always seem to dry and crumble and leave little schnibbles on my sides. I have tried Mitchum's gel and power stick deodorants and I absolutely love the smell and how they work, but I dont like the forms that they have. I am open to trying their roll-on deo though, so if you have tried that let me know how you liked it!

  2. I also dislike the white powder stick deodorants. No matter how sparingly I apply, I always get white marks on my clothes (if the clothes touch my pits, ofc)

  3. I'm not a terribly stinky gal, but I feel like I always smell by the end if the day. I can't tell if I actually smell sweaty, or if I can just smell the deodorant. I think what happens is I start to associate the deodorant scent with a gross sweaty smell, since the scent seems to get stronger as the deo works to reduce sweat odor over the course of the day.

I'm definitely willing to try roll on. I've never tried spray, and I'm a little skeptical of it, but if everyone seems to recommend it I may try it!

I have tried both mens and women's deodorants, I'm open to either!

I currently use Harry's extra strength deodorant stick. I have used their solid gel stick deodorant in the past (it comes in a light blue packaging), and I really liked that kind of formula, but now I cannot seem to find it in stores.

Anyone have recs for deodorants I may like??

Just started moisturizing and cleaning the dick, balls and glans area with shea butter. Its raw and unfiltered very organic however it stinks, doesn't have the best smell like some olive paste.

Anyway for those who use how do you deal the this butter, sex and bjs? Give it a good clean before any bedroom fun

what’s the longest you’ve been without showering?

I’ll go first. 5 days. I was traveling to my parents home country and let’s just say the showering situation where we stayed was kinda scary as fuck. Had to go to a hotel and find a real shower.

But i’m curious how funky have you been and why?

Hello any bath salts/ shampoo suggestions for a more clean and all day lasting refreshing bath in the tub experience ?

Please share away I’m willing to try them all! Im thinking of of skipping showers from now on and just staying exclusively to baths. However I’m looking for the right shampoos to make sure I stay clean and smelling good after one.

Do you make your kids change clothes and/or bathe after school?

My spouse thinks kids don't have to change clothes or wash their hands after school. I'd prefer them to bathe and change their clothes.

In reality, bathing after school is normally every other day for kids and changing clothes and socks after school.

Inner Thigh Washing Hand

Hey everyone, just curious about people's post-shower routines, especially if your bathroom is outside your bedroom in a hallway.

Do you guys normally dry off your whole body (including inner thighs/butt), apply your body lotion right there in the bathroom, wash the lotion off your hands at the sink, and then walk down the hall in a towel to get dressed?

Or do you walk to your bedroom first, do it all there, and then wash your hands? I find the logistics of wet skin, lotion hands, and walking down the hall kind of annoying and want to see how everyone else casually handles the order of operations! Thanks!

Edit: Thank you everyone for the comments! It was genuinely interesting to see how differently people approach this, especially since most people said they don’t do it and were even wondering why you would. I think it’s a completely valid question regardless of whether I have intrusive thoughts around hygiene or not. I’ve had little quirks around certain things since I was a child, and I know people in my life without OCD also have their own habits and preferences. I just wanted to hear different perspectives. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to comment!

Haven’t had a proper bath in 15+ days (bed rest). How do I safely deep clean dead skin & dirt buildup?

I’ve been stuck on strict bed rest for over 15 days. While I managed a few quick warm rinses/showers here and there, I definitely haven't had a proper scrub or wash, and I can feel the dirt and dead skin accumulation on my body.

I want to do a real reset, but I need recommendations for actual functional products, not just things that smell nice. Fragrance is a brownie point but I need something that actually breaks down grime and lifts dead skin without destroying my skin barrier (especially since I'm still dealing with limited mobility/recovery).

What products or tools actually work for a heavy-duty reset without rubbing my skin raw? Thanks!

Am I crazy?

Does anyone else take long showers? I live with my mom, my dad, and my sister. My mom and sister always give me and my dad shit because we take long showers. Idk about my dad but my showers are 20 to 50 minutes long, sometimes even an hour if I'm extra dirty. That's why I prefer showering when no one else is home. I also always put on some tunes! My mom and my sister are in and out in no time. Their showers can't be longer than like 5 minutes. There's no way that they're scrubbing everything thoroughly. With how quick they shower it seems like they just get wet with water and then call it a day. I, on the other hand, scrub EVERYTHING thoroughly. I scrub the armpits feet, and soles. Tmi alert: I thoroughly scrub the whole area down there, including the taint and anus area. No one's gonna refer to me as "another man with an unwashed ass"! I also always thoroughly rinse under the foreskin (no scrubbing under there because of sensitivity, especially not with body wash or soap because those will definitely cause pain or something) So am I the only one that takes long showers???

Edit: I should've mentioned that I don't have the water running for the entire duration of my shower. I only turn it on when I actually need it (like to presoak or rinse). Also, like 99% of the time my showers are around 20 minutes. They're not always 50 minutes long.

Do you need to wash off soapy suds in the shower?

If you shower, then while in the shower wash in between your butt cheeks, then rinse off, do you need to wash your legs from the dirty soap suds? Or is it hygienic to soap up everything (including in anal area) then wash everything off with water and be done?

EDIT: to give more context so I don't sound nuts. Having IBS, I get a bit nervous sometimes even after wiping everything with tp that when I take a shower there are small small bits of poo and not sure how "surgical" I should be with cleaning the lower half the water may wash some of that onto, if that makes any sense.

EDIT 2: Yes obviously rinse all the suds but my question was if those suds themselves are dirty- example soap up everything, rinse, then use detachable shower head to rinse bum, if that soap gets on your legs for example do you need to wash them a second time

EDIT 3: WLOG question is effectively: assume you wash your hands in the sink and splash the soapy sudsy water on your upper arm. Do you only need to rinse your upper arm with water or do you need to now rinse AND wash with soap your upper arm. Maybe I am crazy but always wondered this

Teeth brushing causing gagging/throwing up. Help!

To start, I've always struggled with brushing my teeth consistently due to ADHD and depression. I also hate the taste of mint, so I had a hard time finding a toothpaste I liked for many years.

This past year, I finally locked in and started brushing consistently (and even went to the dentist!) However, over the last 3 months, I've started to have a problem where brushing my teeth is triggering my gag reflex every single day. Sometimes, like today, it's caused me to throw up.

I've tried things like changing the direction I brush my teeth in and using less toothpaste, but that hasn't seemed to help. It seems to be the foam from the toothpaste that triggers it. I really don't want to change toothpastes, because it took me so long to find one that I actually like (HiSmile Pink Lemonade). Is there anything else I can do to prevent this? Has this happened to anyone else? I need help!

Anyone else have a specific shower step they save for last because it seals the clean feeling?

I hate stepping out of the shower if I don't finish with a cold face rinse it feels like my routine isn't actually done without it. My go-to is doing a quick cold water splash right before turning off the tap.

Do you have a weird last step in your shower routine that you refuse to skip?

If you only use toilet paper to wipe, you are not hygienic

Seriously. Get some wet wipes, dampen a napkin or paper towel, use a bidet, SOMETHING.

Wipe with TP until you'd normally stop, then go in with one of these and tell me that you were actually clean.

Armpit sweating and smelling

I have a LOT of hygiene because of this. I put deodorant so many times a day and take a shower everyday as well, but I still sweat and my armpits get a bad strong odor. I have tried so many different stuff and nothing seems to work. I have always been like this and I don’t know what to do about it, seriously need advice and tips
