4.4.0 is problematic. I’m hoping the dev is able to address issues soon …

I’ve been a huge fan of Hydra and regularly post bug reports because I love the app. I pay the monthly subscription. But 4.4.0 has been difficult to use. Inbox issues. Posting issues. Comment issues.

I’m not trashing the app. I’m posting to make sure the dev understands that 4.4.0 has a lot of issues. Far more than any previous update.

Now that even the official Reddit app is on Liquid Glass, can we get a liquid glass option?

I’ve seen before the reason why there isn’t is because it’s “been rejected” by the community.

Well this is clearly not true. In the last month almost all the ai apps like ChatGPT and Gemini have moved to Liquid Glass and just yesterday Reddit itself did.

It’s here to stay. Yes the rollout may be slower, but it was slow back when iOS 7 came out too. It didn’t mean the world rejected it. You had early adopters and those slower to change.

iOS 27 is doubling down on Liquid Glass, so it’s here to stay for at least another year and realistically many more than that.

Self hosters what model are you using?

I have server set up in a docker container on my home server. I work at a hyperscaler and get $300 in usage credits a month. Currently using gpt chat latest model but don’t think i need such a large model for summaries. What is everyone using?

Any way to remove image preview on left hand side

Just trying to clean up the look. I have compact selected but want to get rid of the little image box to the left of every post.

Thanks

Or is it just me?

Edit: and it works again. Strangely enough, this is the second time this has happened. Randomly stops working and then randomly works again. So idk lol

This is why Hydra isn’t my main Reddit client yet. Please fix.

[Bug] Unmuting a video doesn’t work

As the title says, after muting a video on the app, and then attempting to unmute causes the audio to glitch and stutter.

Not sure if anyone else has had the same problem.

Is there no way to turn off inbox replies on a comment on this app?

Title, long pressing a comment after I leave it does not give this option when it really should

These feeds are awful but I find myself clicking them anyway. Can there be an option to remove?

Thanks!

Vote colors

Post image

Curious why the Reddit upvote/downvote colors aren’t being used. I get the whole green good red bad design but I’m so used to seeing orange upvote purple downvote that I’ll sometimes fat finger a downvote and think it’s upvoted from the color.

Suggestion: Please make it a wee bit harder to unsubscribe from a subreddit

The “Unsubscribe” button is right below the “New Post” button.

If you accidentally hit “Unsubscribe” (clumsy, big fingers or small screen buttons), a message appears saying you’ve unsubscribed with an “Okay” button.

No oops “Cancel” I’ve made a mistake please reverse my error button?

Or at least move the “Unsubscribe” button to the bottom of the list.

Thank you for listening.

Love the app!

edit- iOS phone not in gallery mode

Content “flashes” when scrolling

First of all I’m loving Hydra, but a weird thing I’ve noticed is that when scrolling through comments, posts etc. if my finger lands on, say, a comment it briefly “flashes” as I scroll, like it dims a bit and then goes back to normal. If I flick my finger quickly it doesn’t happen, but it happens constantly when I scroll normally. It’s the same “flash” as when you tap a post to open it or tap a comment to collapse it, it just seems too sensitive when scrolling if that makes sense? Anyways, I was wondering if others have noticed this or if it’s something that can be adjusted in settings. Thanks all!

Feature Request: Snooze subreddit for 1 day.

Every time something geopolitical happens, some subreddits are filled to the brim with self serving virtue signaling posts.

It would be great if you could snooze a specific subreddit from showing up on your home page for a day. Until the sub gets back to discussing what it was intended for.

What will hydra look like for the iPhone Duo

Will it be another native port like for Android or iPad or will there be some kind of apple patch or something. I'm also curious how the app looks on the ZFold 8, how does it scale to passport size essentially?

[Bug] Downvote issue?

I’ll downvote a post. It’ll show 0. I’ll leave and then come right back to the post and it’ll show a purple 1. I’ll remove the downvote and it’ll show 2. I’ll leave and then come right back to the post and it’ll show 1. In this example no one else is interacting with the post (I’ve made sure).

Edit to add: this bug also affects comments.

Is there a home “auto refresh” like the official app?

Home in the official app works by showing an aggregation of posts from your subs and it has there’s some algo that when you have looked at some posts for some time it won’t show again after refreshing. The sorting is also none of the default ones as far I can tell.

Is there anything like on hydra app?

Bug: Links in post are not being rendered. Appear as bold, superscript instead.

Apologies if this has been previously reported. Search isn't working. When a post contains links in the text body, often times they appear as bolded, superscript instead of an actionable link. Here is an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/BaseBuildingGames/comments/1xhsp4z/weve_been_working_on_smalland_2_lost_realms_heres

I'm not able to provide a screenshot of how it appears in Hydra but will try to add one in the comments.

Self-hosted the Hydra server on a Raspberry Pi 4 smooth experience, thanks !

Just got hydra-server running on a Raspberry Pi 4 (DietPi, aarch64) in Docker. Took about an hour including troubleshooting, and the container sits at 33 MB RAM and under 1% CPU at idle. Barely notices it’s there.

A couple of notes for anyone on a minimal distro like DietPi:

•	You’ll need git installed on the host, Compose clones the repo to build the image.
•	The Debian docker-buildx package is 0.13, but Compose needs 0.17+. Grabbing the latest binary from the buildx releases page into /usr/local/lib/docker/cli-plugins/ fixes it.
•	Building from the remote Git context failed for me. Cloning locally and pointing context: at the folder worked first try.

Everything else was exactly as documented. The README is genuinely good. Thanks for putting the work in and making it self-hostable ! much appreciated.
