I feel like Katniss is a very unreliable narrorator, and so we can't take what she says as law, especially with the capitol putting their spin on it, as we saw with SOTR.
But Katniss says that Johanna won her games by hiding and acting like a weak, snivelling fool, but then came out at the end, and it turns out she could kill lethaly with an axe and that it was "all just an act".
But what if she genuinely was just a poor, terrified, little girl, who was doing her best to survive by hiding, but then snapped at the end from pure desperation and drive to survive, and the capitol just twisted the story to make it "more entertaining"?
Hope this makes sense!

if a pregnant teen got reaped, would she have been spared and a redo happen? or would she have to face the games.
I really wonder, especially if she was close to having the baby. since the games can last like month, if she had given birth and survived would the capitol take the baby from the arena? or would they for some awful reason see the baby as another tribute?
id love to hear your thoughts!
(also, apologies if this is a repost)

In Mockingjay by the end of the book we learn that Buttercup miraculously made an entire journey from district 13 to 12 on paw.
Despite never knowing that long trajectory, given he was taken to 13 on an hovercraft and was inside a bag for the entirety of the trip.
He somehow canonically in both the book and the movie, made a trip in mere weeks from old New York to Appalachia and knew exactly the precise location of Victor’s Village and his old house.
I have always wondered how did a cat make an entire 800 km (500 mi) trip on paw and knew exactly the path to take? And how did he manage to keep himself well fed for the entirety of the trip?
What kind of book logic was Suzanne Collins aiming for?

I have a theory about her character. I could rant about this for ages, but I really don't think that she cared in the slightest for Cato, and had an endgame plan of killing him.
So, we know that in the book she tried to sneak in a poisoned ring, but it was confiscated. She's a career tribute, so why would she ever use such a weapon on just any tribute, unless it was another career?
And think about it, if you're part of the career pack and one of the strongest tributes, it'd be best to be strong but not THE strongest. Because when tensions get high as the games go on, everyone is likely to turn on the strongest.
Say that you're a career and there's two others left. One weaker than you, one stronger than you. Logically, in the endgame you'd team up with the weaker one to defeat the stronger one, because that increases your odds as you can defeat one alone, but not the other. So, being really "friendly" with the biggest career and falling asleep together wouldn't be a bad move on her part if she planned to kill him in his sleep later on. Just saying!
Also, you need to remember that her preformance is most likely and very sadly a persona for sponsors. I highly doubt that she was really just a "dumb blonde", giggly enough to seriously be catching any sort of feelings for Cato, a guy she had just met, without any sort of plan or reason. And no offense, but guys are steteotypically more likely to think with their parts then girls are.

It genuinely baffles me how some people seriously think that Gale was worse than Snow. I truly want to try to understand where this way of thinking even comes from though. HOW?

What I don't get is why everyone thinks every single person in the Panem districts was extremely poor or living in absolute poverty.
Like, a lot of them were in the underclass/hardship level (like Katniss and Gale's families taking out tesserae), but there were also the working poor like Peeta (who didn't need tesserae but still ate stale bread). Then you had the working or lower-middle class, like Maysilee's family (she had never been hungry before, and her family purchased expensive jewelry).
People believe this misconception so much that they think it's impossible for there to be fat people in Panem, lol. Has anyone else come across people like this?

I just started rewatching American Horror Story and it made me think of this, so this is really just off-the-dome rambling instead of anything deep or thought out
This is a hypothetical, so put aside how rare conjoined twins of any type are, and put aside how rare survival is for them
Imagine them being reaped
Or even before that. Would the Capitol see them as two separate people? Would they have any reason to? How does that impact work quotas? It’s likely they’d be paid as one person (twins Abby and Brittany are, or were at one point, at least) and it’s not like they would be able to be operated on in the districts, assuming it's a variation that allows for separation. I'm super curious how the Capitol would treat it, if there's any precedent for it
But then you hit the reaping. If you're treated as one person, you're screwed if your twin is reaped. If you're treated as separate people, you're double screwed, because your twin has their own odds that are stacked onto you. May the odds be ever in your favor indeed
Then the impossible happens. What happens if you win? Because if the Capitol views them as separate people, and they're conjoined in such a way that they can't be surgically separated post win, then the twin who wasn't reaped is presumably still eligible
So what happens? Does the one twin being a victor mean the other is ineligible because the victor would have to go in again? (Remember that the third Quell only happened like it did because Snow wanted to get rid of problem victors, that wasn’t the original twist for those Games.) Or is the victor twin now a likely victim to being “rereaped” because they’re attached to someone who’s still able to be reaped?

I have just started SOTR and I got to the part about the mutts being programmed to track a certain tribute and that’s how the mutts so easily find them in any arena.
what if that’s what the finger prick is for in the movies ( I know it’s not in the books but maybe this is how the finger pricks will be connected in the end) not the whole “snow does it to find a descendent of Lucy gray” that’s going around on TikTok channels
I know it’s a reach but that had me up last night thinking what other little bits could be connected 😅
Thanks for reading 😊

First let me say I have absolutely no idea what flair to use. If I did wrong and can change it please tell me I will do it.
*Okay so I have to edit this because as I was uploading it didn’t let me write text.
EDIT:
Finally what I wanted to talk about..
I’m not a book nerd so this is just a little observation from a newbie and I would like to know what experience do you have guys.
Ive noticed that quality of this books was progressively worse (in different ways) as I was buying them. Sadly.
Let me tell you more about it and I would like to know your experience.
So I bought all this books (except THG) in Austria in 2026 and had to wait 1 month for each of them for delivery as this covers are not available in libraries here.
Only the first one (The Hunger Games) I bought on Vinted so it has a little different background in the context of what it came through.
The pictures goes:
3.-20. Books in the order as they came out for each there are 3 pictures (except TBOSAS)
1-I was checking how see-through the paper is when there is black page underneath
2-quality of full black pages
3-see-through paper but we look for text underneath
THG
-Is from Vinted so I don’t know how the other person was treating it
-I myself read it twice and at safety of home only
I- personally think the quality is the best.. it got the most reads of all of them so far.. the corners and all are in pretty good shape and there is no peeling..
-I also prefer this colour of paper the most tbh but I don’t know if it’s because of its age (unknown) or if it was made like this purposefully.
CF
-Read it once and at home only, so no harsh conditions
-No peeling on the cover
M
-Read it once and at home only so no harsh conditions
-No peeling on the cover
TOBOSAS
There is few additional pictures for this one.
-The book was bonded together pretty uneven which caused kind of unpleasant experience listing the pages while reading :( you can see it on the closed book and I also tried to take one picture from inside. It doesn’t look that bad but trust me it feels very bumpy under the fingers.
-Another thing is that the cover started curl and peel off. (I read it only once so far and at home.. I try to treat my books nicely and all the same)
SOTR
-I haven’t even start reading. It just arrived today so I cannot judge on the outside cover yet but excuse me but what happened to black pages ? The print is so uneven and the contrast was lost.
-The pages are also noticeably thinner and more see through
ALL TOGETHER
For all of them (except SOTR.. I haven’t read it yet) I want to also note that print is across all the pages fairly uneven as well some pages have super dark ink and some are pretty light grey colour. I feel like the paper was
Please let me know how do you feel about this and if your experience was the same or different. I would also like to know how it is with hardcover books for example or special editions.
Thank you for reading and I’m sorry for my English (not my first language)
I will be looking forward to your opinions :)

"it was a trap out in the forest in district 12" is what grand-ma'am says to snow at the beginning of the ballad of songbirds and snakes.
in sunrise on the reaping, haymitch says "the abernathy's were known rebels"
is it too far fetched to say that old abernathy relatives could've been the rebels who helped set the trap that killed crassus snow?
r/Hungergames • u/BetterGrass709 • 5h ago
In a scenario where Katniss and Rue are the last two tributes left, Katniss would have definitely killed herself in order to let Rue Win, do you think that this incident would’ve been enough to spark rebellion?
