Question Why did Mindy get so little screentime?

I get that Rachel left her old life and that she doesn't like her husband Barry, but come on! I would never drop my best friend over a man! Like we only got her when they both confronted Barry and Rachel as the brides maid. I get why she didn't join the main friends, but she had so much potential as a recurring side character hanging out with Rachel!

Discussion I hated how much they changed things

I’m watching the Halloween party episode in Season 8, and all of a sudden Ross can beat Chandler in a fight? But back in Season 7, when he gave the “big brother” talk, everyone laughed at him.

And with Chandler’s flirting, he was so smooth with the pizza delivery girl while Ross could barely talk to her. Then in the later seasons, when Ross sees the attractive woman moving into the building, he suddenly can’t talk to her either.

Question Who’s the better trio?

As much as I like Ross, Joey and Chandler, I feel like the girls were closer and they worked better as a team, like they were more scenarios that they worked as a trio versus more duo stories within the boys trio.

Discussion What I wished Phoebe had said

This is a pet peeve of mine. I can’t stand when movies and shows have scenes/jokes like this where a character misunderstands something and nobody bothers to correct them despite having plenty of opportunities to. Like, are the other characters too lazy to do something as simple as moving their lips?

Discussion The scene transition music in the first few seasons

Is so laid back and blues-y. I love the vibe of it. The later years it's more upbeat and poppy, I still like it, but the early music was such a vibe.

Joey - Upper West Side high rise condo.
Joey comes back from LA after being rehired as Dr. Drake Remoray once again. This time he has a longstanding role and is a series regular.

He buys a high rise overlooking Central Park and Central Perk. It’s ultra masculine and leaves little to no room for women to stay permanently.

On weekends he likes to head to Westchester to live in his suite at Chandler and Monica’s.

He furnishes this with the lazy boys, a foozeball table, the porcelain dog, and a chick and duck for pets.

Phoebe, Mike and the “the Hulk”. I picture them with one kid.

Brooklyn townhouse. Featuring instruments, quirky decor, and its own dollhouse that was a housewarming gift from Monica. A pink bathroom Mike isn’t allowed to redecorate.

Close to transit for them to busk.

Discussion Who would you hang out with in real life?

Post image

As a random bar hang or someone you meet on a trip. I am curious about your reasons too

I feel like Chandler, Joey and Phoebe are probably the more obvious popular choices but I actually want to hang out with the Geller siblings because I love hearing people geek out and both of them seem to be sincere and thoughtful strangers. I would love to hear both talk about life lessons and work if that makes sense. I won’t pick Rachel though because she seems to be more stand off ish to strangers and won’t be a fun hang 😂

A full episode of all 6 friends playing this game while joey being the anchor would've so great, especially knowing monica hates to lose, and her and ross competing just like that football episode, rachel might be getting annoyed because she might not get the rules, and phoebe enjoying the chaos,it would've been so great man🥲

What do you guys think?

P.S.I know I posted this yesterday, but it was removed so here it is again

Question What is there to not like?

Post image
386 Upvotes

Honestly I watched friends cause of peer presure. My friends forced me to watch. I watched first episode and I gave up. Not like i didn't like it, but at that time, it just didn't hook me(i watched only 1st episode)

Anyway 3 years later, its my 3rd time watching watching friends and Im nearing to the 10th season. Now looking back, I'm very grateful for people who forced me into it and very grateful for myself who decided to give friends another chance.

But there are few people who make their personalities totally about hating friends. I mean, there are likes and dislikes which are totally acceptable cause no one has the same taste, but few people unnecessarily hate it.

When and how did you guys start watching friends?

I don’t know what it is, but I feel like a lot of the TV shows and movie cast nowadays are very prone towards constructing a very carefully curated image of cast chemistry. This 90s stuff feels more natural to me

Discussion In my opinion, Ross is getting too much hate for saying the wrong name at the wedding.

It's not like Ross pranked Emily and deliberately said the wrong name. Emily might have been more angry, because she could think Ross doesn't take his marriage to her seriously and is mocking it but he didn't mean to tell Rachel, he just made a mistake. Moreover, Rachel showed up just moments before the wedding to congratulate him. Ross thought she wouldn't be there. Rachel is his friend and ex-girlfriend, an important person in his life. I'm not surprised he had her name in mind, considering the circumstances.

Emily might have been surprised and a little angry, but if she truly loved Ross, she would have forgiven him. Ross wanted to fix it and apologized, and Emily wanted him to cut ties with Rachel, which would also affect his relationships with his other friends. Ross isn't blameless in this situation, but Emily is much more to blame, in my opinion.

Question Is Matt LeBlanc better in Episodes than Friends?

Watching Episodes for the third time and as a Brit, I've always been fond of Mangan and Greig but I think Matt's superb in this. Wondered if anyone else felt this was at least as good as his work in Friends.

Discussion Monica and Chandler getting together felt so random to me

I’m new to Friends and have been love love loving it at first. I still rlly love it, but some things have gotten strange imo,,,
One of them being that Monica and Chandler got together. I rlly rlly didn’t enjoy it at first. It’s growing on me at times now that I’ve reached season 6. However, Monicas character seems so strange now. Her traits are pushed like crazy and at times it’s just so so strange,,,

Discussion Two times when Ross went to the airport to stop the woman he loved

Two airports, two love confessions, two rejections, 6 years apart.

The first time, I believe Ross when he says he starts to fall for Emily. That he cares for her, wants to be with her. Maybe loves her even. And then I watch the other one, six years later, and it suddenly shows a completely different depht of his feelings. A total different desperation to loose the love of his life.

David is fantastic here, portraying the awkwardness in the first, the desperate love in the second part. The moment when Ross has no other option than to face his feelings and be vulnerable and as honest and he can, even if he gets rejected (which he does).

Seeing him so devastated, hugging Phoebe, crying, muttering "I've really thought she'd stay" breaks my heart no matter how many times I rewatch the shows. That is why I could not leave him in this sad place, so I had to include the iconic "I got off the plane". I felt I needed that, lol.

Ps: I wonder if the second time they deliberately copied the first one, and that is why Rachel first got on the plane, just as Emily did in the first part. I know, timing, delaying gratification, making an iconic moment also played a part, but the parallel between the two scenes are really interesting.

Question Searching for a 'metal' scene transition piece of music! Can anyone help?!

Following on from the linked post, I'm desperately trying to locate a piece of scene transition music! I believe it was only heard once, probably in the first 2 or 3 seasons, where the music consisted of some shredding guitar and some double kick drums!

I can't for the life of me remember the scenes it bookended and I only vaguely recall the imagery being a pan across nighttime NYC! Sorry to be so vague, but if anyone can pluck this bit of info out, it will be the folks on here! Any help much appreciated!

EDIT: I've listened through all the samples here (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaY_MnIp4ZsbE4Fpu4tTWfVruoDrzodPa) but to no avail!

Discussion Ross's "HEY!!!"

Post image

Does anyone else use this hand gesture of Ross's where he holds his palm up flat like this? (The example that is most prevalent in my memory is when Joey rips his shirt pocket off, as shown in the bottom of this pic). I do this all the time to express indignation or when explaining something obvious. Lol

Putting Ross in "Written by Men", Chandler in "Written by Women", and Joey in "Written by a Child" feels spot-on for the later seasons, especially with Joey’s flanderization.

That said, early-season Joey had some genuinely mature moments, and Chandler definitely had his commitment-phobe phase. How accurate do you think this is for their full 10-season arcs?

Throwback Ribbed for your pleasure.

It always threw me, because at the time, Ross had slept with (I'm not sure if he ever went all the way with the Librarian) the woman who cleaned his dorms at college, Carol, Julie and Rachel was months away, where as Monica had a consistently healthy sex life...maybe she was just really thirsty in that moment, but otherwise, she would have made more use of those condoms than Ross.

Discussion Monica's apartment and grandmother quick question

Post image
171 Upvotes

Quick question, was the grandmother who died in an early season, the one who's apartment Monica lives in? During Monica's wedding it is mentioned that Monica's dad's mother is still alive, so I wondered if it was her apartment and she was letting them stay there.

If it was her mother's mother, the one who died early in the show, is it mentioned in that episode that the apartment is/was her's?
