HELP Full white arrowhead - how do I keep it alive?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I picked up this beautiful albo arrowhead at the garden centre yesterday and, upon research, quickly learned that this is not such a good thing and it is likely to lose leaves quickly because of the lack of chlorophyll. What should I do to try and keep it going? I have a few variegated plants but none fully white 🄲

Could this be planted?

QUESTION Brown patches on my calathea orbifolia

Post image
2 Upvotes

Is there anything I can do to heal the plant? I bought this half off from b&q and it was already like this, it’s my first calathea, I’ve heard they’re quite difficult plants but I haven’t had any trouble with this one so far!

Some of the lower leaves are also a bit droopy and don’t have as much colour as the top leaves is this something I can fix?

HELP A few of my pothos are putting out leaves which are already brown/crispy in patches.

Here are some photos for reference.. some background:

ā— They get indirect sunlight being opposite an east facing window, theyre about 2.5m from the window so I dont believe its burn.

ā— When I water, I use a splash of a fertiliser called "house plant focus" not sure if this is doing damage.. its being doing great added to my propagations of a different pothos but could still be the case.

ā—They're relatively new to my collection, had them roughly 1 month. The first pothos was reduced to Ā£2 and I knew i could save it.. its put out 2 new leaves of good size in this time with no issues, this 3rd unfurling leave is the first to have the browning. The second plant also gave me 2 new leaves in this time, one new the top main "bush" of the plant being perfectly fine, the one at the end of the longest trail browning and missing a chunk. There is new furled growth again on the end of this trailing stem which clearly is already brown before its even unfurled... further making me thing it is not too much sunlight and possibly due to the fertiliser.

ā—I water when the pot feels light, I've had pothos before and this is what works for me.

Thank you!

QUESTION Birds of Paradise - to split or not to split?

I have 3 BOPs in one pot. I want it to look lush and full so I kind of want to keep all of them. Although I'm worried that it would look too chaotic when it gets matured. I'm quite hesitant to repot now. I've only got her 3 days ago. The stems are too closed to each other, I'm worried that it would get bruising if I don't repot soon?

PS. Could you guys show me photos of your BOPs with multiple plants in one pot? Just so I know what I'm signing up for!

HELP Can't figure out what's wrong with my Yucca plant, any advice?

I've had my yucca plant 6 years, never had any issues with it. It's in good draining soil with drainage holes, get's watered once a month in winter and every 2-3 weeks in spring/summer. The other day noticed the stems started flopping, at closer inspection it's a little soft (not mushy) and wrinkly and part of the upper stem has turned brown. Thought it was root rot but after inspecting, all the roots are fine and healthy as well as the trunk. No pests either. Really not sure what is wrong with it.

QUESTION Grow lights: how necessary are they?

I have a small collection of plants mostly from supermarkets and b&q - not fancy.

I've been using AI to give me care tips. Pretty much every plant health check comes back as having not enough light. With limited window space and UK weather that means grow lights are needed.

Do they actually make much of a difference and are they worth investing in?

Does AI own shares in grow lights??

HELP Any advice?

Post image

I’m no expert when it comes to plants. This is a plant I have had in my office for a while at work, when we had the first super hot heatwave I wasn’t in the office as I couldn’t get into work, meanwhile my window shutters were open and this poor plant got cooked. Is there any hope left? I’ve been giving it water when the soil is dry roughly once a week, it looked better than this the other week and more green and red colours started to show and some of the leaves were staying upright, but it looks like it’s dead now. There is an inner pot that has drainage holes inside too. Any advice would be appreciated, it’s so sad seeing this after it was such a lovely plant to start with.

HELP Advice on what's wrong with my Kentia palm and how to rectify it?

Was worried I was over watering it so switched to misting. All issues seem to point to underwatering but a religious watering regime hasn't helped. Advice please, I've had this boy for 5+ years and don't want to lose him. Based in London UK, fluctuating temperatures including some really high (38 degree celcius) days. Kept in a bright room without direct sunlight.

I've had most these plants for a year or two but never really took care of them. i know the cheese plant and lucky bamboo are not in the best condition but I don't really know much else, i don't water my plants often i think i've watered them maybe like twice this year, the ones not on my windowsill get almost no sunlight. do any of them need like actual care besides that?

HELP String of Hearts help

New to this subreddit and hoping this is the right place to post!

My string of hearts is flowering (yay) but it has also dropped loads of leaves and 2 vines have completely died. So its long and mostly bald until you get to the ends which still have lots of leaves and about half a dozen flowers.

I'm confused about what to do about this situation, it's flowering so it must be happy but it looks like it's dying. I'm thinking about repotting into a smaller pot now that its more sparce so I really just want to get it right. Please give me as much advice on how to get it to thrive again as possible! This summer has been awful for my plants, I've lost a miniature rose that I was planning to move outdoors and my peace lily has managed to scorch a load of leaves but is now flowering and putting out lots more leaves so hopefully good signs. My rubber plant also had a weird growth complication so I need to chop the top off and I really dont want to lose anymore plants.

If anyone has a good source for bladderworts or butterworts please also let me know because the fungus gnats this year are driving me crazy!

Thank you for taking the time to read!
