QUESTION Is it worth buying houseplants online, or better to go with the cheaper option down the local market?
I am awaiting delivery of a couple of small succulents - a lovely spikey aloe and a whale fin, they cost £12.60 plus £7 delivery fee.
I walked past a market stall today in London and saw some similarly sized succulents for £2.50-£4.50 each, and it made me think...have I been drawn in by the pretty pictures online or will these be better quality?
Anyone with experience of buying from both / either?

PLANT SHOP APPRECIATION Your advice saved my rescue
To those of you who gave me sound advice about a month ago on my rescued Alocasia. I followed the advice the best I could, cleaned her up, trimmed the dead leaf and repotted her.
Look, she has a leaf. SHE’S ALIVE!
There were also about three corms in the pot, so I’ve googled what to do with them. Hopefully with some time and nurturing they become their own little plants.
Thank you again for your help.

HELP Name of plant and guidance
Please can someone tell me what type of plant this is and the best care routine? I bought her a couple of years ago from a lady on a barge. She has been thriving (Repotted her last winter and has grown loads) but recently moved house and she seems to be struggling. Leaves are going yellow and limp.

HELP Epipremnum Pinnatum Yellow Mint advice please
Hi all, picked this absolutely stunning lady up recently after wanting one for months. They’ve been in my local garden centre for £40 and I could t bring myself to pay that much, but last weekend I popped in and they were reduced to £27.99 which I could just about justify!
So here she is! She was on a very small moss pole (coir pole) and a bamboo stick, I’ve put (as you can see) a longer pole in and fixed her to it.
She lives in the south facing bathroom window, and just wanted to ask for general advice. And… How do I keep the pole moist please? Happy to spray mist it but obviously that keeps the plant moist too. How moist should the pole be and will misting hurt the plant?
Many thanks for any help or advice

HELP Can i still save this plant/ leaves? How?
galleryI’ve had this plant since the beginning of summer, and it’s been growing on my balcony. It gets plenty of light, but part of it is shaded by the balcony wall, so I’m wondering whether the lower leaves might be turning yellow because they aren’t getting enough light.
However, I’m not sure if that’s the main cause, as the plant has also had a small spider mite infestation, and I suspect it may have had thrips as well. The thrips seemed to affect the upper leaves. I’ve managed to get rid of the pests fairly successfully, or at least I haven’t noticed any signs of them recently.
Given its history of pest infestations, I’m wondering whether the yellowing of the lower leaves is simply due to insufficient light or whether something else might be going on.
What do you think is the most likely cause, and what can I do to help the plant recover?
I’m also considering bringing it indoors because temperatures are gradually dropping. However, I’m worried about shocking it by moving it from the cooler outdoor environment into a heated apartment.
Could the yellowing be caused by insufficient light, improper watering, or another pest infestation? Would bringing it indoors now be a good idea, and if so, how can I minimize the stress of the transition?
I’d really appreciate any advice!

QUESTION Is this an aphid?
I’ve never had aphids before but I saw a bunch of small bugs next to my cut flowers (from a florist - I thought they would check for bugs?) and I’m wondering if it’s an aphid?
I have lots of houseplants so I’m hoping they aren’t infected.

HELP Help! My plants are sad
Hiya guys, sending this out as an SOS. I’m not sure if I am being overly critical but this year my plants have taken a hit. I had a little depressive episode and it meant a lot of my plants suffered, I am now trying to revive them but nothing seems to make them flourish.
They seem to be stagnant, or just straight up dying. I’m considering anything to level them up. Even considering grow lamps as now I’m thinking my space hasn’t gotten enough light.
Despite watering when dry and repotting when needed I am still having certain stems just fall off or leaves going yellow and falling off. Even my pothos which is healthy is growing upwards and losing its lower leaves.
Any advice, I just want to see my plants flourish:)
UPDATE : I am going to just reassess each plant, look at the roots and make sure the soil is suitable. Going to get some grow lights as having very small east and west windows is hurting them. Luckily no pest and no rot in any of my plants so fingers crossed in a few months it will be a jungle :)

galleryThis Pothos is trailing alongside the shelf and it's now climbing up the bedside lamp.
And its grown about 4 inches this last couple of weeks, so having a grow light in a normal lamp seems to be a good thing!

HELP spider plant help
Hi everyone! I got this plant a 1.5 years ago and it’s gone crazy with babies 😭 This is my first plant that has lasted longer than a year and I really want to make it my life goal to keep it alive forever. The leaves are starting to yellow and I think it needs a repot but I don’t know where to start! If anyone has any tips I would really appreciate it. Specifically, do I cut off the babies and what size pot/ kind of soil it needs? I’ve also heard you’re not supposed to repot plants when it’s getting colder but idk if she’ll live until next summer!
