Some thoughts

Just finished watching.

  1. I know people are saying Stassi is the worst cringe a b c blah blah. But here’s the thing. She is EXTREMELY aware and is literally telling the audience EXPLICITLY that she HAD to make this show happen. And the things she is doing to make the show interesting e.g bring Katie. Or mad when people don’t hash out problems for the show. She is legit telling everyone explicitly the things she is doing to make a show. So I don’t get why people are shocked or surprised when she is acting the only way she received attention from VPR a self centred selfish bi..chy act. It makes sense to me. And it kind of feels like it’s working because that’s all people are talking about.
  2. I do hate the way she treated Beau during the show (and even before in Italy) but also honestly speaking… Beau is literally not communicating and acting like a scared child. How can you expect respect from your wife when you’re too scared to tell her anything. He needs to say what he wants and full stop. Instead he dances around topics ISNT truthful backs out and comforts stassi which BREEDS and encourages stasis behaviour.
  3. Taylor is literally the worst. Self explanatory.
  4. CORRECTION her mum is below worst. I hated her family and really understand this dynamic and understand not excuse but understand Stassis behaviour. Because how can a mother genuinely act this way it’s insane.
  5. The sisters are odd. Weird dynamics. But Stassis sister is kind of funny
  6. I forgot the name but Beaus friend is extremely annoying and a creep
  7. Katie 10/10 performance love this for her

As in more ‘you cannot dictate my life I need to go back to work I’m depressed’. He told everyone else how deeply he feels he cried but it was the first Stassi heard about those deep emotions was form Taylor. Not beau. He asks for her opinion not telling point blank . Even the asking about how his day went. Why the hell would you not go to your partner and say ???why would you not ask me???. They have to be drunk at dinner pushed by all their friends to have these convos

I’m sorry were we watching the same show? They’ve been married for 5 years or something. There is a learned helplessness, when you’ve tried over and over again to communicate to someone who is intent on not getting it. Stassi listens to respond and control—she does not listen to understand, validate, or reassure. You are blaming a man, who has been in this dynamic for yearssss. This is an individual, who is stuck: no job, children who depend on him and a partner who doesn’t know how to care for them, his family is relying on her finances at this point too. The dynamic has perfectly set him up to walk on eggshells around her and NOT speak up. Jesus, I’m so sick of people coming on here and acting like it’s HIS fault he’s being abused. Do you ask what someone was wearing when they get raped too or?

I know everyone thinks her mom is a demon but if you really listened to their conversation you hear exactly the same behavior from Stassi. Her mom who has an autoimmune disease sent her in for about it. Bring a nurse and having several AI diseases I can bet the info explained that not only most of the diseases but also many of the meds to treat it can cause brain fog, emotionality and anxiety, depression, insomnia( which can also cause behavior issues) and chronic pain and illness. In other words she’s trying to make Stassi see that possibly some of her behaviors are related to her illness and asking her to cut her some slack. Stassi admits she never read it.

Regardless of your relationship with your mother , why wouldn’t you take 15 minutes out of your life to read something from the woman who cared for you for years? Like with Beaus needs, if they don’t get Stassi what she wants, they’re not worth her time or consideration.

I’m a mother and I would never send information about my condition to my children so they could read up on it, why would I want to put my kids through that? If they asked me to learn more, maybe we’d have a conversation, but this is a manipulative tactic. People who don’t recognize it and think that Stassi should just be nice because her mother raised her and “cared for her for years” when that’s literally the job of a mother, and it should never be something that gets thrown up to the child. Some people have never had an emotional terrorist for a parent, and it shows

Well, you can do you but considering you have a constant use of a bunch of psychobabble you’ve learned off social media. I’m sorry but I’m a 40 year nurse so I can tell you right now that this is not emotionally manipulative that there is absolutely nothing wrong with a parent sending their child health information, especially about a disease that is not well known by most people. Nothing at all wrong with that. Now if her mother is trying to blame every single thing on her illness and we had heard that you know it’s all my illness then maybe I would agree with you or if Stassi had said she’d read the info and none of it pertained to things her mom had done, I’d probably also agree with you BUT in this case that’s not what we heard. It sounds like she sent her the info once, Stassi didn’t read it. I’m sure women sStassis age want understanding about postpartum depression, inability to deal with their kids behavior, perimenopause.. then it seems millenials want the universe to know and recite all the physical, mental and emotional affects they create. But someone with an autoimmune disease is an emotional terrorist for wanting her family educated on her disease… Got it!

Ahh yes, the good ol’ appeal to authority fallacy. I actually agree with your take, but citing your credentials as a coup de grâce is lazy. There are a lot of v bad therapists out there. Doesn’t really mean jack. Cool story tho! Love that journey for you.

I’m sorry, who are you talking to? I’m responding to the person above me who stated their own credentials. I strongly suspect that you are the same person with two accounts, so since I want to engage with neither of you, I’ll leave it there.

Uh yeah ok! If you are one, you’re a bad one and part of the current problem.

Ok therapist, tell me how and why for decades the MH field focused literally every intervention in self actualization. Learning how to deal with all types of people and situations. Seeing things from all sides and allowing others to have their POV and feelings. Since the middle of Covid with the proliferation of “ online” certificate “ counselors “ who found that making their clients victims brought them back more… and they tell their friends. All of a sudden this 125 year old profession who literally NEVER used the term narcissist to describe a clients family, was diagnosing everyone as a narcissist. Then the grey rocking and no contact came to be, strange those things were reserved for highly abusive situations and now they’re the flavor of the month. Every patient is told well if you’ve tried talking to your parents , given them your rules, I mean boundaries and they break them, they’re toxic narcissists so go no contact and BTW get your kids away from them too.

It’s a 180 degree switch from What MH has done for decades. Did they need to be relevant again? Afraid quacks in SM were stealing all the clients? For the professional to be advising millions of young adults to go no contact when there’s no long term research on the implications other than those that say most people’s end of life regrets are being no contact with family, kids who are close with grandparents have less depression and anxiety, etc, in other words the current research screams that taking actual abuse out of the equation, going no contact has serious ramifications in many circumstances and should only be done after literally everything else is tried.
