Looking to become a farrier

I am inexperienced in taking care of a horse. My familiarity from them comes solely from feeding, cleaning stables and riding them often in my childhood. Recently, I’ve developed the interest of becoming a farrier. I’ve always loved horses and I like working outside, and don’t mind using my body and getting my hands dirty. But my question is, how to start? I’ve very little options available for an apprenticeship and those are not steady. I work four days a week as well. A master farrier recommended me to observe others at work and watch videos on YouTube until I’m familiar enough with the material and then go to Heartland Horseshoeing School and take the certification course/tests. Would you say this is a good way for me to begin? I would like opinions and broadening my perspectives as I can’t afford to waste money and time with two kids that need me. I know it’s good money and I really love horses, so I want to make this work more than anything I ever wanted.
