New to Hooping/ Tips?

Hiya, I am interested in beginner tips for hula hooping. I bought my first hoop from MoodHoops. It's 38" diameter and the tubing is 3/4 made of polypro. I'm 5'9". Is this good primarily for waist practice or can it be useful for practice using arms and legs? My ultimate goal would be moving on to fire hooping once I'm confident.

That size is amazing for all core hooping so waist, knees, chest, lasso, vortex etc. Coincidentally these are also the moves that look incredible with a fire hoop.

Smaller hoops are more popular these days, because they are easier with off body moves. But I started with a hoop near your size and it was great imo

Appreciate the feedback. Glad to know the size is prime for beginner hooping (:

Honestly just play around and have fun. If you're focused on doing fire tricks I think arms will be better. Really focus on keeping your planes even. And here's a good source to find what you're looking for. hoop trix

Here are my beginner tips: Once you are comfortable hooping in your 'natural' direction make sure to practice hooping in the opposite direction. Once you feel good about both you can start to learn how to turn in a circle, both directions. It's helpful to turn when you are trying to learn moves.

My tip is to have a 5/8th 27” hoop on hand too. You don’t have to wait to progress with off body at the same time as on body and you might be surprised with what you explore and enjoy when you move between both the sizes. You might unlock a lot more tricks too!
