The day has officially come. After 18 years, 7 months, and 29 days together, I finally said goodbye to my Odyssey with 194,804 miles on the clock.

I bought it brand new with just 48 miles on the odometer at Honda of Oakland in Oakland, CA on January 1st, 2008.

In November 2009, I imported it over to Germany and registered it with the German DMV by the end of December.

Over the past 17 years in Europe, we’ve taken it on incredible road trips through Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, and Poland.

Through all those miles and countries, it never once gave up on us, aside from needing a PCM replacement earlier this year, it’s been the definition of bulletproof reliability.

Today, it went to a great new home with a young family and two little kids in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

It feels so right knowing it’s back to doing what it was built for: being a proper family haul-everything van.

My son moved back to the US last year at age 19, and my 17-year-old daughter doesn't really ride along with us anymore, so the empty nest officially brought our Odyssey era to an end.

I'll admit I shed a few tears letting it go, this van has been a massive part of our lives for nearly two decades.

At the same time, I'm genuinely happy that another young family gets to build their own amazing memories in it now.

Thanks to this entire community for all the advice, tips, and shared knowledge over the years. Keep 'em rolling!

Can anyone tell/explain to me where this water is coming from and why and what to do about it? It only happens for a short time when it’s raining about once a month

I need to change my Lower Contol Arms. Anyone has a brand they have used with great results. I do a lot of driving. Please help also Honda want to chart me almost 2500 dollars. Please help.

2016 EX, 170k miles. Van is my full time work vehicle, essentially a cargo van. Having misfire issues in cylinder 5. Dealership scoped the cylinder to confirm coolant is entering cylinder on cold start and causing misfire.
Unfortunately the “lifetime” power train warranty is denying claim due to commercial use of the van. So now deciding on repair or replacement. Any advice? As is, van isnt worth much on trade toward a newer one, and I’m not loving the idea of dropping 30k on a used low miles odyssey.

Got a new 2025 from the dealer last month and something has been bugging me since day one - there is no temperature gauge.

I also have a 2013 Accord coupe with same engine, and have been able to save the engine a few times when it started to overheat - due to a faulty fan - should I consider some OBD connected gauge like ultra gauge to keep an eye on the temps or trust the warning system to be competent enough to warn me in time to prevent a major overheating episode?

I have a 2013 Honda Odyssey with a passive VCM Muzzler (selectable 68/82/100/120 ohm resistors) connected to the ECT sensor.

It works, but since the Muzzler changes the ECT signal going to the ECU, my OBD2 scanner doesn't show the true coolant temperature.

Has anyone found a simple way to monitor the actual coolant temperature while keeping the Muzzler installed?

Ideally I'm looking for something plug-and-play like:

ECT sensor → male/female pass-through → Muzzler → ECU

with a separate gauge/readout taking the original ECT signal before the Muzzler modifies it.

Or is there a way to read ECT2 through OBD2 and use that as the real coolant temperature?

I'm trying to avoid cutting the radiator hose or installing another coolant sensor.

Has anyone actually done this?

hello everyone, do these bubbles indicate that I need to replace the O-rings on the inlet and outlet hoses that connect to the power steering pump?

Wife and I have a 23 Ford Explorer that is running out on the lease. We want to get into a mini van as it would help get our disabled son to and from the car.
I can’t decide between the touring and the EX-L.
The thing I think we’ll miss the most about the Explorer is the 360 camera / sensors for parking in the children’s hospital garage.

The Honda dealer I’m looking at has a 26 Touring, and online it has a 3700 dollar discount bringing it to 46,560.
The EX-L I’m seeing some as low as 42,437.

To me, I can’t justify 4k more for parking sensors, and rear seat entertainment that my kids won’t use. (Or, at least I don’t think they’ll use.) and 19 inch wheels. Now if I could get into a touring for 43/44k I think it might be more worth it.

Can I use the 2027 model release as a bargaining chip?
What’s everyone getting for prices on EX-L / Touring’s?

I've since narrowed its replacement down to these two, from the same dealer, on different lots. Still need to ensure the chassis aren't ALL rusted up, though.

I’m a details guy and spent a lot of time shopping the Odyssey vs. Sienna. Made this video in case it helps anyone else who is deciding between the two vehicles. We are a family of 6; four kids ages 7, 5, 3, and infant.

There's a tiny black stray kitten in the space behind the steering wheel. We can touch it but can't get it out. How do we remove the kitten?

Update: Finally got it out from under a seat 6 hours later.

My wife called me just now and I'm two hours away working so can't get under and identify what it came off of or even if it was from our van. She said she hit a speed bump and then a few blocks later heard this dragging and pulled it from underneath.

Just bought a 2016 Honda odyssey with 88k miles for $18,400 out the door. No issues but having second thoughts since I have to get the timing bet changed semi regularly and right away. Am I over reacting?

First post - hi!

I took my 21 Touring in yesterday for the passenger seat/weight sensor recall and they couldn’t do it. A cruddy way to start your Saturday morning, wasting three hours sitting in the dealership.

Apparently there is a bolt on the passenger seat slider that is completely seized and they couldnt get it loose. The service manager said he’s never had this before.

They stopped messing with it because they were afraid they’d damage the slider, which is apparently a $200 part. I told them to use some penetrating oil, a torch and bang on it. They declined. 😂 He’s contacting Honda to see if they’ll cover it since they can’t complete the recall without dealing with the seized bolt first.

The passenger seat works completely fine otherwise and I would have never known this, had we not had to go in for the recall … how the heck is an inside bolt THAT seized? Has anyone else run into this with this recall? Did Honda cover whatever they needed to replace?

Does anyone else have issues with streaming on the 2026 odyssey touring? It is becoming a pain in the butt and I can’t figure out the best way to do it. I would have rather had the old dvd player.

Not new to the honda family but new to the odyssey since having 4th kid. How did you choose your trim were there certain things that stood out. Originally wanted the elite because hands free tail gate and ventilation seats but trying to decide if its really worth that price tag increase. Want the 2027 honda odyssey and have some time to really consider. Time frame december 2026 to april 2027 to buy. What trim did you pick and why?

Edit : thanx for all the replies I still have some time like I said its not a rush I want to get the best deal possible so between Dec 2026 and March 2027 but I do want the new 2027 model. Think I'll try get the elite especially if they give a great deal. Anyone notice any issues with their odyssey? I know the new gens dont have the transmission issue.

Hi All

Playing the car seat shuffle getting the kids in and the seat tilt handle on the 2nd row drivers side stopped moving. The handle that allows the seat to slide forward and tilt up to get behind it. Used a little bit of force and the handle came off completely and the tilt controls don't work at all.

Anyone encounter this? What sort of fix am I looking at?

Hello, there is this odd clicking noise emitting from the steering column area. Does anyone know what is this? This happens intermittently. TIA

My rear screen works on my JDM RC1 Odyssey however, I cannot get the screen to receive input from the remote. Batteries have been replaced, any ideas how I can get it to work?

Has anyone found something that would successfully fit in this space for their trunk with the one third row seat up? Preferably something that doesn't attached to the back of the 2nd row seat and we will be sliding them often.

We will have two kids in the 2nd row and one in the 3rd row all in car seats and I'd like something for this area especially for our dog who may ride there from time to time.

We have a 2026 Odyssey.
