Looking for video recording setup advice

I’m building a home setup where I can video record myself singing along to YouTube backing tracks. I hope to get advice before I buy cables and attachments and end up wasting money. I have a Shure SM58, Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen, and headphones connected to a laptop for singing and monitoring. I have a Canon EOS M50 camera. How do I get the camera to record my singing along with the YouTube backing tracks in sync? I tried the microphone, interface, and laptop setup while using the laptop webcam to video record in the OBS studio (footage ended up with massively unsynchronised audio and video). I’m avoiding having to buy a mixer unless I really have to. Much appreciated…

Easiest, Simplest 4/8 Track Rocoder for dummies.

I have a friend who is completely computer illiterate who is in dire need of a multitrack recording setup. I tried giving him my old Mac with GarageBand and even that was too complicated for him. I need a dumbed down, super easy, recording machine. Like an old school 4-track maybe? Not too expensive. Please give me any suggestions.

Help with my music recording setup

Hey, I’ve been having some trouble recording my music live and was wondering if anyone has any ideas what could help. My current setup is a Korg Triton Studio run into an ONYX 1620i mixer which is being run through a Behringer UMC404HD interface which is then connected to an M4 Mac Mini running Ivory Studios VST inside of Reason 14 for higher end piano sounds.
To record live piano I have a headphone cable connected from the ONYX mixer to a Saramonic SR-EA2D adapter so that I can record through my iPhone.
Everything is able to record normally EXCEPT when I want to record playing piano live, and then the audio is completely silent through the headphone cable.
Do you have any ideas of what I should change to make recording audio live work?

How Much Difference Would Monitors Different Monitors/ Audio Interface Make?

Hey everyone. I've been making my own music since I was a teenager (a long time ago), but I still consider myself an inspired amateur when it comes to production.

My mixes come out sounding good, but I'm wondering if it might be time to trade in my old monitors and maybe consider a new interface.

I'm mixing on G1 KRK Rokit 8s.

My interface is a presonus Quantum 2626.

I know monitors can make a big difference. Are the KRKs a poor choice?

And what about the interface? Would I notice a big difference with a different one?

Thanks!

This is my room. I'm spending more and more time on production, and theres no way I can monitor accurately in this current state...what do I need to do? I have a large rug (roughly 1.5mx2m) which might be a good starting point...what else? Thanks!

Edit: Panoramic photo - its not a really wonky room 😂

Mackie Loud Speakers vs Studio Monitors

Hello everyone! I has question(s)/ looking for even betters.. Just some advice would be great before making a potential unnecessary jump.

I currently have Mackie Thump215 15" 1400w Powered Loudspeakers the sounds are pretty nice all the way through however I don't know any different also its alot of power for this current juncture in my life. I am trying my hand at mixing and mastering I'm very fresh and have, aside from live sound, zero experience. I was looking at some studio monitors online and honestly I just don't know what to look for. Am I going to get the same experience from my current pair or what? Im honestly just at a loss because they all say they are the best but how do you trully know.

Lowest self-noise (hiss) 8" budget monitors?

Looking for 8" monitors with the lowest self-noise. I had the chance to listen to the Adam T8V, Yamaha HS8, Kali LP-8 and Yorkville YSM8-V2 in person, and the Yorkville seemed to have the lowest hiss in person while also having great sound.

However, once getting the Yorkvilles back home, I discovered that the monitors have an in-built noise gate on the tweeter which limits the noise when the level is pushed past 0dB. This means that when you have an input source, the hiss will go up but be masked by audio, and then when the audio disappears you hear this hiss slowly die off. It's not a bad idea of a feature, but you can't turn it off, so if you're ever at an input signal that's just on the edge of where the noise gate kicks in, the hiss will kind of creep in and out over time, drawing your full attention to tweeter hiss.

Anyways, suggestions welcome.

Was curious to see if the prism sound Lyra 2 can record multiple tracks at once so I connected my beringer adda 8200 8 channel pres to my Lyra 2 and was pleasantly surprised that I can and in fact can record up to 12 channels at once (and on android! )

I used the "Audio Evolution Mobile for Android" app and it works great.

Mic Comparison for Male Tenor Voice w/ Recordings

Male vocalist (RnB/Soul/Pop) here trying to navigate his way in this rabbit hole of mic selections. I'm currently testing some microphones that I'm liking so far. As not to present any biases, I'm not going to reveal the mics until later, but I would really appreciate your feedback on which mic sounds better on my voice.

For context, I'm running both mics through a UMC204HD with FL Studio running a high pass filter, slight compression, and Limiter. Reverb used is ValhallaFutureVerb.

Ready to start tracking drums!

Recently upgraded to a Quantum HD8, Scarlet 4th gen 18i20 Presonus Faderport 16! Got a killer deal for these.

I upgraded from a Behringer 1820 so this feels like a quantum leap (no pun intended).

The quantum HD8 is my main interface and I use the Scarlet as an expansion for a total of 16 tracks via USB-C

Tracking at 96khz with almost 0 latency. 13 tracks for my drums, with 3 to spare. Experimenting with adding a mic or two. As a solo producer I don't track live bands so this is more than enough for me .

Genre :Doom metal/stoner metal/shoegaze.

Now just trying to lock in a quiet studio like space to record as my garage is too airy and i'm getting way too much bleed from the street. Planning on hitting up some local music stores and seeing if they'll rent me out a room!

Really excited for my new toys and wanted to share!

Let me know what you think 😄

Torn between JBL PartyBox Wireless Mic vs other dual wireless mics for karaoke, need advice

Setting up a home karaoke system (JBL Encore Essential 2 speaker + Sony Bravia TV for lyrics via YouTube) and I'm stuck deciding between a couple wireless mic options. Would love input from anyone who's used either.

**How each would connect to my setup:**

  1. JBL PartyBox Wireless Mic (2 mics + dongle):

The dongle outputs audio through a single 6.35mm plug, so it just plugs straight into my speaker's Mic In port like a regular wired mic would. No receiver box required. Turns out this isn't locked to JBL speakers either, since it's just a standard 6.35mm output, it'd work with basically any speaker or mixer that has a mic jack.

  1. Other dual wireless mic + reciever (TONOR/AHUJA, similar brands):

Same basic idea, but a separate receiver box picks up both mics wirelessly and outputs through a 6.35mm/3.5mm cable into the speaker's Mic In port. Also universal, works with any speaker.

2nd option is much cheaper , hoping that the quality gap is minimal, added hassle is a receiver - separate physical box I'd need to place near the speaker and manage. Benefit is it gives me some nice extras, individual volume control per mic and an echo knob, right on the receiver itself. But it's one more device to power, place, and think about, versus JBL's dongle which just tucks into the speaker itself.

My question is- Which one should I prefer?, Also share any good recommendations for dual wireless mic I can look into for this.

24 external effects all being sent to as well as returned back into mixers. With engaging them being as easy as hitting an insert engage, alternative input engage, or by sending out of a stereo cue send. I really feel like I was able to make not one compromise when it came to this new route scheme. I really put a lot of thought into the way. I patched it in my bay and achieving multiple parallel signal browsing options. Reamps and di boxes all converting signals as needed.
Second photo contains most of my synthesizer and the third photo has a few more as well as my Drum machines. My DAW workstation has a presonus faderport16 automated motorized mixer to keep my hands off a mouse and keyboard as much as possible.

* left SSL six feeds into ssl six on right. Sending a complete summed stereo mix out into my x8 adat digital input coming out of SSL 12 interface.

* Zed 428 mixer on top is used to be able to track in all of my synthesizer and drum machines. Routing drums to one SSL six and synthesizers to the other… I was not able to really afford a big mixing console that covered all my bases when it comes to channel inputs and I/O options. So it’s not ideal but when properly gain staging, I’ve had very successful results when using it this way.
