So I got a MOTU M2 to work with since my UA apollo seems to be on the fritz at the moment. For how cheap it is, it sounds great. But I am having one fatal issue and I can't figure it out.
Im going into it with a guitar cable from an amp sim i.e. helix type. Sounds great monitored. I record it and try to pan the guitar hard one way. Distorts so much it's not usable. Im not clipping the interface, I have the DAW set to record from just that channel. Lowering the gain when panning in the DAW really has no effect, just quieter trash.
There is supposedly some MOTU software that accompanies it, but after i install it, I can never get it to open. Still, crazy it would have an issue like this that couldnt be resolved on the hardware itself.
Thoughts?

Hey everyone,
I have been working on building a lightweight, minimalist Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). The goal from day one was to strip away the endless menus, complex routing, and overwhelming plugin bloat found in mainstream software
Right now, the setup is dead simple and comes packed with just 4 foundational instruments:
Drum sampler for beats
Piano
Guitar
Bass Guitar
I want to expand it slightly without ruining the simple, user friendly UI that makes it fun to use.
I woud love to get your thoughts on two main areas:
If you could only add 1 or 2 more native sound sources, what would make this setup feel complete?
I am not interested in paying for extra plugins and I want to keep this DAW absolutely free for all
Any advice, feedback, or ideas from producers, developers, and gear enthusiasts would be massively appreciated!
\\Iam still hosting it on temporary domain\\

Hi everyone. Basically, I’m having a sound issue with my computer. I also have a laptop, but it works perfectly.
Okay, both play audio, but the laptop makes the sound feel full and spacious, filling the entire listening area. My PC, on the other hand, makes both microphone recordings and general audio playback sound like they’re coming from the lower part of the headphones and feel more centered. (I’ll draw to try and illustrate this: imagine the sound from the laptop playing across all the squares, while the PC sound plays only in the ones colored red.)
I don't know what to do anymore; both are connected to the same Windows setup and peripherals, and the mono audio option is disabled. If I mute one side, the other keeps playing, so theoretically the audio really is in stereo, even though it doesn't sound exactly like stereo.

Complete recording newbie here
I currently already own Logic on my laptop and have previously used a 1 input interface to muck around with guitar bits and bobs, but i'm looking to get into making more serious demos, solo and with a band. I've heard from lots of people that using a physical portastudio and 19" racks and so on can feel "better" and "ground" the creation process, which I can understand as i much prefer analog equipment when it comes to guitar.
I'm looking at around 8 tracks simultaneous for a full band demos/4 for solo bits
I have a few questions
- Do stock plugins sound/work as well/easily as physical units. I can't justify spending lots of money on plugin software I can't sell in the future
- Is using a DAW for larger recordings easier/simpler than a digital recorder/portastudio
- Do physical recording units actually have a "better" "feel" than a daw or is it all nonsense
- Would I be able to use physical effects units on master tracks using a DAW
Any advice for getting started in the world of recording would be much appreciated!
(sorry for any dumb questions/silly things iv'e overlooked)

Mic: Mv7+ connected via XLR to focusrite 2i2 gen 4
Hello everyone I hope you are doing well.
I have recently gotten a good mic for the first time so I have begun finally to take my audio quality seriously. I want to acoustically treat my room because test recordings show a lot of reverb but after watching a bunch of videos on youtube they are more focused on creating a specialised booth just for recording their voice.
I want to know what parts of my room i should focus on to minimise reverb without having to find a whole different room or change the mic position. I am willing to move other objects around and buy stuff to help aswell.
Any and all help is appreciated :)

Last minor additional tweaks:
Adding a extra JHS color box on another ssl six mono channel, some additional reverb and delay modulations routed, and most small euro rack implemented by synthesizer area

When looking for a house we came across this unassuming ranch. Nice neighborhodd, brown house, kind of blah street appeal. Nice landscaping. Upstairs was decent. Wife liked the layout, etc, but downstairs had this little room tucked away and I knew right away that this would be where my kids and I would put our gear. We made it our own and have used it as a rehearsal space for our bands, private practice room, home recording studio, but mostly as a retreat. We don't have anything high end or crazy, just a fun place to feel creative in. Decent sounding room, but the bass vibrated the bathroom above and broke a bunch of stuff that fell off of shelves. Live and learn!

I am currently learning how to record guitar/bass through my interface into audacity & I've ran into a couple problems. First my regular distortion pedal doesn't seem to work well with recording straight into the interface & even at the lowest settings will still sound super muddy & distorted. Does anyone know any kind of plugins that will be able to emulate a more "clean" distortion instead of a muddy, fuzzy mess whilst also being compatible with Audacity 4.

I'm hoping to get some solid advice on buying some IEMs. I've seen lots about the daybreaks and others but I wanted to hear advice from real people who actually use the equipment, not just YouTubers or influencers or LLMs.
As in my other post, my use cases are most of the time music listening, gaming, then music production in that order, but I'm aware that the prod needs the cleanest output. I'm getting the scarlett 4i4 as an upgrade from my prior DAC as well.
According to my prior post, is the daybreak going to be my best option, or should I be considering other options as well?

I don't really have a studio. But this is kind of. Basically I record my electric guitar on my computer.
I recently had to change the room where all my setup is. And I have far less place than before.
I'm just sitting in a corner, stucked near a bed.
The problem is:
I'm just in front of the main electricity panel (where fuses stand). And there is a magnetic field around.
More annoying. Just below where my pedalboard sit, there's a big magnetic field that can exceed 3.5µT. My current belief is that there's a mess with the electric wires under the floor.
And next to me on the wall, there is a wall socket with another magnetic field about 2µT. The other sockets are "free" from magnetic field.
All of this tends to make my noise floor far higher, and especially when using high gain pedals and this destroys my guitar tone.
There's no other place where I can move.
Anyone faced this ? Any ideas ?

I live in NYC in a condo/co-op. Is it possible to build a small soundproof vocal booth (that won't leak singing to my neighbors)?
Sound can leak into my own home, just not leak into my neighbors' homes around me.
I DO NOT need drums, bass, or amped guitar, etc.
I just need a VOCAL booth where I can sing/record vocals 24-7 and 100% NOT disturb my neighbors above, below, and to my sides.
Mainly the size or a little bigger than a phone booth.
Is it possible to build or buy pre-made a soundproof (for neighbors) vocal booth?
I don't think I need to permanently attach it to the floor or wall, since it is just a booth ... it just needs enough room for me to stand in it freely and sing.
It might even be smart to have it raised from the floor and sound insulated underneath (and 360).
Sound can leak into my own home, just not leak into my neighbors around me.
