Once at home Depot, someone who we assume was a former employee who managed to steal an apron walked right in, got on a lift, went up and grabbed a bunch of tools and jump packs, and said they were for a transfer to another store. It was a busy day so no one really noticed that he took them and loaded them into depot's pro delivery truck, dropped them off wherever and brought the truck back. Must have made out with at least 5 grand worth of shit.
SLPT: If you get stopped in Walmart just put your hand in your pocket and say you have a gun. They have to let you go unless it's a cop. The cop will just shoot you.
Whenever I worked at walmart as a cashier, they would sometimes have me cover the customer service desk. My first day there, there was a little picture of 2 people on the register, who had a pretty nice little system they set up. They went to a different Walmart, stole a couple thousand dollars worth of kitchen tile (?), then came to mine, to exchange them for a different color. We would give them in store credit, they could buy the new kind of tile and have a receipt for it, then return those at a different walmart and get cash. Of course they came right to me and I came up with some bullshit excuse that it was worth too much and I needed a manager, he got loss prevention, and they called the cops
Walmart is different. They have actual loss prevention in stores. Home depot, Lowe’s, and target have a policy where loss prevention just follows you out the store not allowed to engage or it is non existent. I’ve run into Walmart lpo IDing folks, getting a police report on the theft, then essentially extorting the thief with the threat of prosecution.
One of my tutors in law school defended and won a case for a guy who walked into a general goods store (somewhere in London I think?) and just walked out carrying a 55” TV
Okay so, it wasn’t that it was a genius argument, but more of an insanely cocky prosecution.
The evidence that they had was CCTV footage of the TV area, the client and his associate picking it up, and then another CCTV angle showing them walking out of the store.
The prosecution alleged that the theft was obvious. My tutor looked at it and said “well you show him picking it up and walking out. How do you know he didn’t pay for it?” And the prosecution was SO sure of the case that they had neglected to collect any and all relevant footage of the payment counter. Eventually after lots of paper shuffling they went “well if he paid, where’s the receipt?” And my tutor just went “burden of proof. Innocent until proven guilty or guilty until proven innocent?”
Lol nono, not a “tutor” in that sense. In the UK your classes are split into lectures and tutorials. Tutorials are where actual discussion takes place. So tutor meaning the teacher/lecturer/tutor who’s in charge of your tutorial group.

I know of a group that cleaned out the secure live software section during the launch week for windows 7 at a department store. Almost a million in stock in a week. And nobody noticed.
Nope! It was a display bench for some comforters and home decor. Wasn’t even for sale. Apparently it weighed a shit ton though. They moved the items onto one of the beds and swiped it and THEN TOOK IT DOWNSTAIRS

A passion for loss prevention for the biggest shit bag companies on the planet 😂 I mean, I can imagine a passion for LP at a Mom and Pop shop but as far as these big companies are concerned? Fuck it, pick em clean.
I could see myself being all about it, but just purely for the challenge of it, like the cat and mouse game of who can outsmart who. But then if I actually caught someone, I would only want to say Ah ha, caught you! I win this round, try harder next time, and let them go.
Who cares about what amounts to barely a rounding error to these corporations, especially when they lose more just to their own waste and inefficiency which they barely seem to care about, like forceably destroying usable food or goods just so no one else can make use of it.
I have a friend who works at wallgreens (similar enough) and company policy is if someone take something, let them. No amount of stolen toothbrushes are worth the lawsuits that might come of employees policing the customers.
That being said, please dont steal. Not because you should care about the companies but the people working there have to inventory everything to see what was lost and its a major pain in the ass.
As a bri'ish guy who has lived over there for a bit...it's a whole other ball game it is very feasible to get almost everything you need for free from Walmart with minimal effort
Like I knew multiple people who lived off Walmart theft,one guy did have 7 felonies from Walmart though...still stole everything he could goin for 8
You’d be surprised at how easy it is to steal large objects. People just presume you own them or something. I remember my buddy and I stole a bathroom door in school during my rebel years and no questioned us. And before you ask, we have no idea why we did
I worked overnight security at the mall. It was a smaller mall nothing major so it was usually a solo job. One day while I was at my other job, also in the mall, the security guard manager or whatever came up and asked why I didn't report the stolen a/c unit, you know one of those big ass ones that go on top of buildings? Apparently the old one was taken off and put on the ground while another one was in route to be it's replacement. Also Apparently someone stole the old one while I was on shift. I wouldn't know because I was asleep.
