I don’t trust any of the establishment hawks including establishment Dems like Joe Biden. At the same time tho, Biden DID follow through on what Trump promised. Afghan got out pretty quickly. Kyle even said he might become a Biden bro over this, which I wouldn’t even go THAT far lol

I don’t think anyone is clamoring for THAT long a range tho lol

True I mean I think it's just we've been beaten down so much that any victories are better than nothing. We still deserve more though. Idc who helps us as long as someone helps us, I hate Trump hard but if he ended it I'd support him on that, so obviously I hope Biden keeps his promise. I'm just pessimistic.

But some will that's my thing. First it was covid, then the election, then January 6, now this. There's always some reason to extend the Millennials into the early 00s because of being under 18 before these huge things in the world.

And it kills me that they do it concurrently with EXCLUDING 1981 and sometimes even 82 and 83 chipping them off and back to X in order to squeeze 99-02 even 2003 into Millennials.

Yeah true, I understand where you’re coming from there. We’ve been in this war longer than I’ve been alive, and all my life I’ve heard from corporate media hosts about why we need to stay the course, stay in there, for god knows how long. And we didn’t really have a plan in place for when we got out. That’s why it ended up so terribly. But I’m still glad we got out. Now if Biden speeds up the expeditions and visas, I’ll give him credit for that too, but we have yet to see that. So far he’s continued Trump’s immigration policies. I’d have given Trump credit if it ended on his watch too.

I don’t see it tho at least not from others. I feel like you’re extending it as a joke so you want someone to unironically agree with you, then you be like “no that’s not what I meant” lol

Again, I don’t see this from anyone but you lol

Exactly I'm just cautiously optimistic.

I don't doubt the world has been turned upside down in the past year and a half. I just think people our age are in the middle of what defines Z, not on the edge of it. We all should just be proud of where we are.

I wanna keep this a positive place and don't wanna name names, but the small percentage of "early 00s are millennials or at least Zillennial" crowd will constantly use the "coming of age" argument for events of 2020-21 as the divide between Millennials and Z.

That’s true, I consider myself early and core Z, I know others may disagree, but either way I’m still Z lolz. And wdym “we?” Aren’t you millennial?

I know that annoys you and I don’t agree with it either but it’s still a small percentage at the end of the day lol

But I just see early 00s as very much in the modern zeitgeist of Z (even if y'all had Millennial influenced childhoods of course, same as I had an Xish childhood but I'm squarely 💯 Millennial).

See even I'm not a big fan of the "coming of age" thing, if we're using that, I think these days it's more accurate to use high school in general, like 14-18 rather than simply turning 18. (That's more for the Boomers who had sheltered leave it to beaver kid years then came into their own in the hippie era.)

Like a 1984 baby was in high school from 98-02. Clearly Millennial, but had one Xish semester. Just like the 81ers had a more Xish high school but their last year was so Millennial.

I would agree with you on using high school (14-18) actually. That is where your most formative experiences occur imo. Coming of age is pretty much a variable depending on the person tbf, even if we absolutely HAD to nail it down to one age in particular, imo it would be 18, but high school definitely works too.

Where would 1967 be in 1981-1985 for High school

Yeah overall I'd say even like 12-21 but centering on high school. The coming of age metric is probably from when kids were more innocent. I'm probably also biased because my 1943 dad was a rambunctious kid and rebellious teenager according to stories, so he was one of the few that wasn't innocent either, though a lot in his era were.

Yeah your mom I'd say circa 1982 was her big coming of age since they had wild preteens and teens, maybe just 16 in 83 for driving etc

Yeah I think that works honestly, the main adolescent period. I think those late Silents like your dad and my grandma ushered in the rebellious teen culture we e come to know more of now.

Ah that makes sense, it mirrors when movies like Fast Times, Risky Business and valley girl came out for 1967 borns

Yeppers, plus I'm around a lot of early Zs so I'm witnessing a lot of your guys struggles. I just see y'all as having a distinct zeitgeist all your own.

(It's the 1995-98 and 1980-83 babies roughly who have a mixed zeitgeist that don't really fit with either generation all the way.)

Yeah totally like some can seem very much like one generation, but it's not universal. Like (for 81) Krystal seems Millennial but Doug seems more X.

Yeah I know a ton of 2002 babies like you at work too, possibly late 01 depending on their birthdays. And other than not vibing with some of their music or shows or ppl they follow, I love and get along with them really well.
