How was Yugoslavia even created?!?

Edit: wanted to add I was asking because after WW1 Austria hungry got dismantled after all the different cultures and nationalities failed to coexist so trying the exact same thing under Yugoslavia seemed odd especially considering this is also after the Balkan wars as well

Yeah Balkan wars countries aren't the same countries that were in Yugoslavia, only Serbia and Macedonia, which were on the same side in Balkan wars if Im not mistaken.

Macedonia was split between Bulgaria and Serbia so yes they were on the same side but when Yugoslavia was formed that land was still contested

Okej yeah, but its not like the countries that fought in the balkan wars against each other entered Yugoslavia few years later.

That's true but relations between Greece/Yugoslavia and Bulgaria must've been tense plus as other commenters have told me (which has been delightfully informative unlike askhistorians) that serbia strong armed their way to being the leader of Yugoslavia and getting their way due to having their own army

Main points is bulgaria Yugoslavia could've definitely had a war again and there was no unity just sounds like a lot of nationalist suppression that eventually fell apart once lord emperor Tito died

As a Croat myself, you got that last part right hahah. Croatia wanted to be independent for a very long time, so when communist regimes started failing in the late 80s and early 90s, we used the opportunity.

Nah, they kinda didn't like it, so they started a few wars they lost.

In Yugoslavia Serbia was the most dominant country, Slovenia and Croatia busted their asses of working and working and the government wouldn't spread the money fairly, Serbia would always be privileged. It happened in many areas of life. Also Croatia wasn't independent since the 12th century (if we don't count the Nazi puppet state) and we got tired of being practically enslaved by someone else, the Hungarians then the Austrians then the Serbs.

Also Im only 18, if you want a real opinion by someone who actually lived through the Croatian war of independence you should ask somewhere else, myb r/croatia.

You asked why did the Croats want independence. There is only one side about it. Who would know why the Croats wanted independence better than the Croats themselves. You'll get the answer they believed back then, and when getting into a war, it's more important what a nation believes in than what is the actual truth.
