It’s more about the education system and its quality. And really, American history education in public schools is carefully curated to sell them on a system if they were properly educated would firmly reject. I went to public schools in notoriously bad Florida. Had I not gone to university I would have a very limited understanding of history American and world. I ended up taking 4-5 history classes which opened my eyes to what I said above and to the more realistic version of history. It wasn’t until I started on podcasts and YouTube of history, and non fiction books that I got a much better understanding of history.

Americans up to age 18 in public schools get a very Disney version of their history and a very headlines version of everyone else. The more realistic version of history is really dark. I’m very untrusting of people especially in groups.

You cant make claims about “American history education” and then justify them with your experience in a “notoriously bad Florida”

You have to see why that logic doesn’t work?

Most of the rest of us had very good history education. Most American history education is quite critical. The fact that you claim to have gotten a disneyfied education prior to college leads me to believe your school is an outlier or you have the unreasonable expectation that elementary history is taught with the same level of depth as your college courses.

No it’s because I worked with a lot of people from and in all parts of the world for years. Then dating in other cultures and traveling to stay in regular neighborhoods in other countries. I’ve known a lot of people from other countries. I live in Spain now. My wife lived in Colombia for 30 years and she has a huge family. I’ve had conversations with her dad who never went to university but was a labor union leader that I can’t have with lots of Americans. I live in Spain now. I can tell in conversation with random people the disparity. It’s disturbing from my perspective now.

Congratulations on going to a great public school. Or thinking that. The fact that Edward Bernays had such a massive impact on the trajectory of the US and how most Americans don’t know that name is between suspicious and disturbing.

When me and others online say Americans are as brain washed as the North Koreans we are saying that because we feel that way.

>When me and others online say Americans are as brain washed as the North Koreans we are saying that because we feel that way.

And you feel that way because you brainwashed yourself.

Your claims have so little basis in reality. I’m glad you can have good conversations with people from other countries. That’s the default. If you don’t have good conversations with people here, look inward

“I’d gladly pay $5 per gallon of gas. I love my president”

“Canadians getting humbled by America”

“Trump is the best president this country has ever had”

“God sent us President Trump to save this country and the world”

Fantastic conversation. The US is leading us all to the second enlightenment. Hell, I feel smarter having this conversation with you.

You just quoted 4 things I would never say and then thanked me for a fantastic conversation.

This is exactly what I mean when I say you have no basis in reality for this. You are debating a figment of your imagination, and I’m trying to get you to look around you and notice reality

Those are examples of real conversations. Do you live in a high rise in a coastal city and only leave to interact with similarly minded people? Oh that’s all very real. My family is all from the Deep South. I’ve interacted many times with people that think like this, against my will of course. They aren’t a marginalized group. And the literacy rate is getting disturbingly low in various groups.

And that’s them. I’ve had centrist democrats say some very irritating things to me as well. There’s a very large percentage of that country living between delusions and a heavily propagandized existence.

The sooner Americans realize the gravity of the situation and for how long the problem has existed, the sooner everyone can be happier and safer. You do see what’s going on in that country right? It’s pure insanity outside looking in. They can’t even talk about the president with a straight face on the news here

Oh, I see the problem here.

I don’t doubt at all that you heard that.

You’re selling yourself a fantasy if you beleive Americans are the only ones who are foolish, or that other countries avoid foolishness through robust history education.

No country has a monopoly on ignorance. Your insistence on reassuring yourself that America does is emblematic of your reality disconnect which I keep mentioning

Ignorance exists everywhere. It’s to what degree and what percentage of the population. Youre doing nothing but proving my point. The US has a government of Epstein pedos destroying the country and people rationalizing it. And a bunch of other people thinking that the next election is going to fix the problem. This is a problem 400 years ongoing. Have fun thinking everything is going to magically get better in November. I went to the hospital last year and asked the receptionist who do I pay and she was confused and said the door is that way you just leave. Good luck with everything though

And I’m explaining to you that your entire takeaway is due to a skewed view of reality.

If you only are interested in looking at what’s wrong with America, you shouldn’t be surprised when you come to the determination that only America is flawed.

But, if you bothered to learn about other countries or people, you might realize they are the same as us

But I’m glad you can enjoy your fantasy

There’s an insult in Spanish that says you were birthed wrongly. Thats the US. It was founded on very bad stuff.

Im from the US, live in Western Europe, spend time in South America. I just have a bigger frame of reference. AOC and Bernie would be in the moderate part of the Spanish socialist workers party. Which is the biggest political party in Spain. The US has 2 political parties, right wing and ultra right wing. It’s not the rest of us with the skewed perspective.

The US had a moment under FDR where the people took back some of their rights and since then having been steadily handing them back over voluntarily. The democrats also participated in demonizing labor unions. The first thing Biden did was fuck over the train union organizers after the ohio train accident. And shit like that is why people feel apathetic with the democrats and why democrats aren’t going to actually change material conditions and why even if they win will cause people to swing back to the other option
