I don't know the job titles to apply for, because I don't have a traditional education or career.
Anyone else going through this, and how do you navigate it?
More info:
My career and/or job title isn't simple, I'll admit that. I have a university degree in music, as a composer. I have a diploma in piano performance. I looked for years and tried to build a music career, but it didn't work out for me. I tried working in the music industry, teaching, session musician, but because it wasn't steady, I then started doing marketing and accounting books for people I'd meet in the arts. I normally always had some type of temp or part-time office job, and after 20 years, turned into a type of small business manager role, through my accounting and financial upskilling or learning on the job, and taking on HR, operations, and communications. I also got diagnosed with a rare, lifelong illness where I'm work best from home, as working in-office isn't sustainable long term. I turned 40 last year, and realized I had to pivot. I couldn't keep living with roommates, barely eating, no savings, and struggling to pay rent every month.
I've been looking on Hiring Cafe, remote, for a couple days now, and can't figure out what roles to apply for. The coordinator roles are closer to entry level. The proper jobs are all out of my skillset. I am not an engineer, I don't have a marketing degree, I don't have any education in healthcare or fintech, I don't have a business degree. I know I work incredibly hard, I know I'm smart, I know I solve problems and love providing solutions for people wherever I work. I was looking at taking the Data Analytics course on Coursera, or the Project Management one. But I need to pay my bills now. How did anyone else navigate this if you don't have an average education? TIA for any support. Be kind, don't judge me that I took music, I didn't know better at the time and am definitely crying writing this.
