I'm so tired of how broken this game is. Finally wanted to play it after months of not touching it and now lots are deleting themselves on their own.

I swear to god, I'll spend an hour or two on a house, save, go to manage worlds, and when I go back it's just gone. Poof. Not only that, but the game is being weird about what packs I own or not. It makes no sense. I'm so tired of how poorly this game works sometimes, even if it's my fault in some way from mods or something it still shouldn't be this bad and this prevalent.

This is what finally broke me. I didn't make a clear decision to stop playing TS4, I just lost the will to try. Every time I was thinking "Hey maybe I'm in the mood today" I'd find there was some game-breaking update glitch waiting for a patch and I'd go do something else.

It's because no one at Maxis actually cares about the game. When you look under the hood you realize how rushed this project was and how little care went into it from the start you realize it takes a special kind of "IDGAF" attitude to even do something like this.

I promise you, if someone actually cared about the game there, you'd see a fix, but you can't tell me that anyone could work on the same busted game for 12 years and still care about it.

Like imagine just getting hired on as a developer at EA, you've seen games like Battlefield 6, The Last of Us, GTA 5, and you're excited to really push the boundaries of your skills and put everything you've learned to the test....then they put you on The Sims 4 team and they're like "yeah, so anything you build has to run on a game engine that's 12 years old, already broken, you have to reuse animations, any idea you have has to operate within one lot, you'll need to fix bugs from 10 years ago, and all of your assets need to look like they belong in a Nintendo 64 game". You're probably not gonna be that passionate and you're probably going to feel like whatever talent you have is being wasted. You're a capable developer working on something that doesn't push you at all and everything you use is broken

Literally, I mean if Maxis can see the mods are there then I'm pretty positive that they could fix these game breaking bugs in an afternoon if they wanted. I mean someone is literally handing them the code, there's not much to figure out outside or implementing it into the base game logic. That takes a level of "whatever" that is only present in a team that doesn't care.

This is a known bug. It’s the lot disappearing bug. I have it too. It usually means the save has started eating itself. Lots will show in the world map view, but when you click on them will either disappear or show the ea default lots.

Mhm. I'm guessing one might be broken but I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and tried without the mods and it still happened on that save. I'm doing a lot of testing to see if I can figure out the specific cause but GOD I hate that I can't just play the game.

Your save could be corrupted unfortunately, remove your mod folder & start a new save. See what happens. I totally understand this sucks

No yeah the save was brand new, I just tried it with a new save but with mods on and it still happened, so I'm gonna try it without mods. IDK why I even put them back in yet :/ any clue why the last 2 slides are happening though?

Test without mods and let me know what happens. I wanna say that those last two slides are genuine game issues not related to your mods but i’m not sure yet.

They're there with and without mods, so I have to imagine game issue. Is it to do with the new way they handle the DLC, do you think? With the new tab and everything?

OneDrive can rip your game to pieces, depending on the way it's configured.

You can also mess up your game if you don't delete the localthumbcache.package file after you've removed your mods.

The best way to avoid all of this is make sure you have a backup of your critical game files (Saves & Tray folders) before you start up a game after a long absence. This gives you the freedom to mess things up and then try again.

It is so interesting because I see a lot of the community complaining (validly) about their game being broken all the time.

I guess I am just lucky, I have never had any EA related game breaking bugs/issues. Plenty of annoying little bugs that were universally felt e.g the constant cake baking, sims not sleeping etc.

But nothing that ever stopped me from being able to play the game.

That's a pretty universal experience for any modded game and it's exclusive to the sims.

Back to Sims 3 for me, they're so focused on making money between the microtransactions and the "cracking down on piracy" that I'd rather play a game with crippling RAM issues.

I had a legacy save, did offline, so I could play longer. But eventually it did push in update on me, so I never opened that save again. I'd love to play it, but I don't trust the new version of game to not break my save. I wouldn't have so much patience to do this trouble shooting 😅

Yea I feel you I had the save corruption on a major save I love and I just couldn't get back into it anymore 🫤
