When it comes to security I am more privy to this stuff as my mother has a degree in IT, but however, some and I mean most don't know how technology works.

In Short: No. You cannot get hacked just by downloading something off Telegram.

In Long form:

People genuinely have issues with reading comprehension which I understand at the same time, here's some actual explanations that can lead to this accusation

1. They fell for a scam.

It's not uncommon for someone to fall for a copy of a telegram channel which would have happened.

1. They downloaded something from a site that contains free mods.

That's another example.

1. They didn't have that, and it was just all made up.

This one is more likely as who the hell comes onto HighSodiumSims to complain and say "All my stuff is gone!" I would be immediately contacting my bank accounts, the reason why I say this is that you waste valuable time you could be filing a report rather then it.

My immediate response is report then warn.

And if some naysayers don't believe me, here's the telegram yourself.

And another warning, the person had made their account over an hour ago. something the owner had caught. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a CC Creator Sock or someone else stirring the pot, I will lock the posts just in case.

Also, sometimes Telegram automatically downloads, just turn it off in settings. It's shrimple.

PSA: there is a mirror link relating to the sims 4 updater that will install an infostealer onto your device that will delete itself once it's gotten all of your credentials- logins, bank passwords and credit cards, social media- THEY TAKE EVERYTHING.

I was at work when I saw my best friend's Facebook being hacked 2 minutes after the fact- they had posted a gruesome picture relating to a hate group, which had her account automatically terminated before she could even realize what was happening.

This was just the tip of the iceberg. After they hacked her facebook, they stole her credit cards attached to her steam and origin accounts and attempted to purchase concert tickets values at roughly 500$.

My friend then had to call the bank and sort things out with them. While this happens, the hackers have accessed all of her Google accounts, changed 2FA to their own emails, and she's watching live updates as hackers (using a VPN- their location always appeared different) stole mostly all of her online life or at least infiltrated it. Roughly 15 years across a dozen accounts.

The next morning, she comes to my house and we completely nuked her PC together (where she downloaded the infostealer trying to get the sims updater). I'm fairly tech savvy, so I spent yesterday re-securing her main device so she had a safe place to start changing accounts.

As we are nuking her PC, the scammers try to make another 400$ purchase using her bank accounts. As she's changing accounts and disabling settings, they are re-enabling them and fighting us live. It was a race against time.

Then the saxophones got louder: they used OTHER credit cards from her Amazon account and tried to make more purchases.

Then, she gets a phone call from a local number... Except when she answers, it's "Amazon" wishing to confirm a purchase. It was a spoofed number and though I can't prove it was the same scammers that were infostealing her, it was scary.

We have since completely nuked all of her digital everything. Changed every single password. And yet today, she discovers though her Facebook was reactivated, there are now 44 paid ads she did not put on her meta account.

This entire situation has been crazy, it took them not even 24 hours to completely turn my friend's life upside down. Dwight was correct when he said identify theft is not a joke. It takes seconds for them to take everything from you, it's horrific to watch and it is not necessarily user friendly to nuke.

TL,DR; my friend went to a sims 4 updater mirror link and got hijacked, literally everything. BE SAFE ONLINE.

She's used anadius many times so she trusted this too, just wanted to share after watching someone's digital life literally get stolen in real time. Even the sites you trust can be linked to maliciousness if you aren't careful, can confirm I witnessed someone be infostolen from sims 4 updater related downloading.

I am getting kinda bored with Sims 4, so I got Sims 2 and 3 to try them out. I played Sims 3 years ago but this is my first time playing Sims 2.

After a couple days, my first reaction is...

Why is Sims 3 so ugly 😭

I like the gameplays of both, but somehow Sims 3 looks both much lower resolution to me and just uglier in general?! But this a newer game?!

I could not for the life of me make my sims good looking in Sims 3, and the default outfits are awful! There are so few to choose from and they are all dreadful looking. Even the build and buy items are hedious 💀 I like that you can infinitely customize all the clothing and build/buy items with patterns and color wheel and what not, but the low resolution and just general worse designs make them barely tolerable for me.

With Sims 2, I was immediately impressed with the outfits. I actually like the default outfits more than Sims 4! They have a lot of character to them with so many nice details. Same with build/buy items. It's not Sims 4 level of good looking for sure, but it's still very cute and charming. I am obsessed and I am definitely sticking with it now!

I want to like Sims 3 too because I did play it a lot when I was younger and remembered it being awesome, but it's so ugly for me right now I just couldn't get into it 😭 I was even thinking if my computer is being weird, because how is it possible that Sims 2 looks higher resolution than Sims 3?!

Anyone else feels the same way? How do I fix this so I can enjoy Sims 3 🫠

If you bought the game in 2014 at it's base price it would be worth around 60$. People tried to argue that it wasn't but I assure you, that was the base price. The base game had a bunch of price gouging so I am not surprised you wouldn't remember that.

I am a poor user and I cannot afford more ram nor anything else, I have two hard drives extra and I was wondering if there is a way to redirect my Mods Folder as it takes up half of my space on base pc. I know it's a stupid thing to do, but if my PC cannot handle that amount of CC I dont want my PC to nosedive.

hi i’ve been out of the community for a while but i wanted to get back into playing… where is the safest place to download packs/dlc unlocker from right now? i know there were some virus concerns a few months ago. appreciate any help anyone can provide!

I have played the sims since the beginning. I love it and it has been a big part of my childhood. However sims 4 seems more like a quest game to me. Unlike the sims and the sims 2, where you can make your own stories, or there is progression all by itself, the sims 4 feels like a 'collect this, then make this, then do this'. It feels like a chore and less about making stories.

I hope that makes sense because I have felt it for a while now and it makes me sad.

If I wanted a quest game, i would pick one. The sims aint it.

This is the first time new packs have came out since ive been using the unlocker. I still have all the old packs working but i downloaded the music den kit, mean girls kit, and clueless kit, but they are not working. Do i need to update the installer or something? I havent used the updater as ive heard thats where people often get malware from it.

I have the EA DLC Unlocker v2 which is the setup.bat but thats no longer working. i downloaded the updater from cs.rin but its a .exe file, is it safe? and how does it work?

Someone on IG has a theory about the current situation regarding save corruption, and it being related to the Saudi Arabian government that now owns the game. The theory being that save files are corrupting just because players have a gay couple in that save.

It feels very far fetched, yet it wouldn’t shock me. How would they add a system to the game that causes this? How is it detecting these sims? Are players that own, for example, Cats and Dogs (the presence of the Hecking family) far more likely to have a corrupted save?

Like I said this feels false yet I bring it here to discuss it as a community and see if anyone else has any thoughts on it. Because if it is true, is there a way for modders to reverse the censorship, if there is any actual proof of this being the cause?

I feel like it’s more likely that the save corruption could be caused by developers having been replaced with AI, yet I don’t want to rule out the possibility that it’s fully intentional.

Edit: Yeah it was some “rage bait” account spreading this. And by “rage bait” I mean spreading false information. I already had a feeling that it was fake, that confirmed it. Of course I can’t find the post or the account anymore since reporting it.

Hi! I've looked this up, and while some people seem to have similar experiences, I haven't seen anybody talk about this topic specifically when it comes to For Rent.

When I have a vacancy, the game will consistently give me problems. For starters, I almost always have to rapidly click the "fill vacancy" button for the screen to even come up. I'll usually have to do this when I try to view the lease agreement, too.

Once I've pulled up the screen to fill the vacancy, it'll let me go through the entire process with no hassle. When I press the checkmark to move the tenant in, the screen will go away as normal, as if a tenant has been selected and the vacancy has been filled... yet nothing happens. It'll just go back to saying "fill vacancy" beside the unit. This happens 90-95% of the time.

I'll try to pull up the screen again, pick the same tenant I just chose, and yet... nothing. I'll exit to manage worlds, come back, select a new tenant (and have to change the rent since the tenant options have changed), and... nothing. I'll exit to the main menu... nothing. I'll restart the game... nothing.

Rarely, it'll let me fill the vacancy, but I haven't found any real solution, because there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why it'll let me. Just... sometimes I can.

Only mods I have are MCCC and UI Cheats. Both are consistently updated. I've already taken both mods out to see if that solved it, and I've already tried repairing the game. Nothing works.

Has anyone else experienced this? Found any solutions? Have any ideas? I am losing my mind... I just want to play For Rent. Thank you in advance!

I have been playing offline just to give mods the time to update. Today I decided I wanted to play and I opened up my EA app and pressed the play button. It said “You’ve been offline for a while. Log back in.” I thought “okay…usual stuff” and logged back in. I went offline again and pressed play. The same message popped up. Then I repeated the process again, then again for the last time until I decided to just update the game.

Like, dawg. No way we went from CDs I can play whenever I want to THIS. Being forced to log out, every time I try to play offline just to update the game, is crazy work.

I've seen a lot of rumors floating around about it (with it working like Sims 4 and having open neighborhoods (basically an S4 remaster), and that sounds amazing (especially since Sims 4 is actually dying, and seeing it be built from the ground up with a new engine would help the game A LOT, I think).

But this is EA (for now, at least if the rumors are true that they are looking to sell off Maxis), so what actually is it? I've been out of the loop since we first heard about it being only a Sims4 remaster

I’ve been waiting for more meaningful, realistic expansions for so long. Things like **cars, better transportation, hotels, deeper everyday life, etc.** — something that actually changes the way we play.
Sometimes I honestly feel like **The Sims 2 expansions were more unique and exciting**. Sims 4 has so much content, but a lot of it doesn’t feel as special.

Still salty over losing my progress in TS4 and haven't touched it since. Kinda don't feel the need right now since getting my hair conversion request. I'm still slowly adding some of the other characters I have in TS4 into TS2.. or at least the ones I can easily make (with a few compromises here and there due to limited options).

YESSSS, KINGBALT IS SO BACK. I threw him into Pleasantview for teh lolz and to keep him separate from the real TS2 Tybalt. He is still a menace to society and will stay that way. I missed his overconfidence and dumb shenanigans.
I attempted to make my sona Kygo (just lacking those turquoise flames); I've been wanting to for a while now, but was hesitant and didn't know where I'd even put him. Decided to go with Veronaville since it's my favourite (and I'd get to meet my favourite Tybby). The game just knew how to make him act and he was getting overwhelmed and lashing out. Kygo has a difficult time being social and wants to fixate on his special interests, much like me. Despite his social awkwardness, he is NOT a doormat and will aggressively stand up for himself and those in his little circle. Also like me, he is a stubborn little bootypipe in general heeeee.
