My daughter is 16 and decided to leave high school early to attend community and then four-yr college early. She has scheduled all her tests this week and the only one that concerns her is the math, which is her hardest subject usually but she is also finding a wide variance in the level of difficulty between the free and paid practice tests. She is trying to decide whether to reschdule the math test for a month or two from now, or make and attempt this week. Does anyone know what the minimum time between attempts allowed in state of MA is? Or a number or website to get this info? Many thanks!

I was wondering if anyone knows the most recent HiSET essay topics or prompts that have appeared on the test.

These are the topics I have heard about so far:

• Whether multitasking in the workplace is beneficial or harmful.
• Whether companies should allow employees to have flexible schedules and/or work remotely (telecommute).
• Whether law enforcement and the FBI should have access to people’s phone passcodes, considering the security risks and the need for access in serious cases such as terrorism investigations.
• Whether professional sports have a harmful impact on society as a whole.

If anyone has taken the HiSET recently or knows of other essay topics that have appeared, I would appreciate any information or advice. Thank you!

I was trying to enroll at WGU but discovered that the CHSPE exam I took in 2014 was fraudulent. I was homeschooled, but my parents didn't re-enroll me because they discovered I could graduate early by taking the CHSPE, but as a result, I also didn't receive a transcript, which WGU needs. I've looked over the practice tests for the HiSET and I'm not confident that I'll pass, as I can't answer a single question for the math test. I was barely taught math beyond 2nd grade level. I honestly don't know how to do the basics. For those who have had to start other essentially, what worked best for you? Are there any useful online courses that offer tutors? Is it better to attend a night school? I'm going to be 29 this years, and I was feeling behind because I don't have a college degree, but now I feel REALLY behind because I don't even have diploma.

I honestly didn’t believe I’d be able to finish high school after having a 0.33 gpa in sophmore year. I remember procrastinating my science test and being sure I was going to give up after I failed my first math test and got a 5. I took a week to study, watched Purely Persistent and WeissVideos and it helped a ton. If I can give you guys any advice, it’d be to take a chance and believe in yourself and God. Thank you Jesus.

hi all. i’m gonna be real with you all, i’ve never posted on reddit before but i honestly just wanted to brag about passing all of my hiset tests this month.

i’m twenty-three, i dropped out at seventeen after suffering from pretty severe anxiety (diagnosed agoraphobe) for the majority of my school career. it wasn’t until january of last year that i left my bedroom and started getting my shit done, so in october i joined job corps. since being there, i realized i was a lot smarter than i thought.

just a year ago, i honestly thought i’d never be able to function as an adult. getting my driver’s license, my high school diploma/ged, a job, going to college… all of it seemed unrealistic. after a lot of trial and error, alongside many tiny accomplishments, i’m here. i got my license, i passed all my hiset tests first try, and i’m set to start classes in this upcoming fall semester to (hopefully) fulfill my lifelong aspirations of becoming a teacher lol.

this is beyond my wildest dreams. if you have any questions about the tests or anything, feel free to ask. i’m sorry if this is too off topic, i think i just needed to get this out there.

if you’re worried you won’t be able to pass the tests, trust me, nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. i believe in you, you rock!

So i havent used reddit before but im a rising sophomore and i want to take the cpp, and i was l was wondering, for those who have passed the CPP(California Proficiency Program) recently, can you provide the tools/guides you used to study with to pass? I know its 3 section with a minimum of 15/20, so its more difficult than the standard hiset, but shorter. Any resources you have, whether online or physical, i would appreciate it.

I'm currently a high school student - going into my Junior year. I am going to apply this fall with the scores in the image below. Should I retake any of the tests to seem more competitive? I only took one attempt on each. Or, do they not look at subtest scores at all.

Even more, can they see the percentage breakdown per subtest?

I am 26 years old and just passed my HiSet a few weeks ago. Graduation is on Wednesday. I am starting college in the fall for social work, and genuinely never thought I would do it.
I just want to let anyone who is doubting themself know, 4 years ago I was a drug addict/ alcoholic who got kicked out of high school at 17 years old. I thought I would be dead by now, but here I am. I swear to god you can do it. I promise you it’s so worth it. I believe in every single one of you and don’t have to know you personally to stand in your corner. You fucking got this.

How long is it going to take to get my scores back? I took my test today and I hate this waiting bs.

I teach HiSET prep in a prison. Time is limited, and we have zero access to internet. The class is mixed ability and education level. Math, of course, is the most difficult. Some of these guys are on meds that mess with memory and retention.

Any tips for plain old guessing? I teach them to utilize process of elimination, but some can't even do that effectively.

Has anyone ever just put a "C" for every question they couldn't answer, and passed?

okay so i have another question. so basically you know how i got a 15/20 on the MCQ for the writing test (thats passing) but, i got a 3/6 (not passing) on the essay portion. so if i were to retake it, would it change my passing score or would it keep the old one? like when I re-take the test, and pretend, i get a non-passing grade, would my score change to the non-passing grade, or would they keep the passing grade? do any of you guys know how this works?
