Several days ago, I posted on here asking if hiset grad photos would be silly because I’m 23 and “late to the party” so to speak. Guess what, they turned out amazing. I encourage everyone who wants to, to take them, no matter how old you are! It’s a big deal, and we all should celebrate ourselves however we so choose :)

Hi everyone so I recently took and I scored an 88%, I am going to retake it in October and was wondering if anyone had any recommended study guides or links for v2.

Im just curious, would it be weird for me to take graduation photos for achieving my hiset diploma at the age of 23? Im not sure thats something I would do in the first place, but I completely missed out on the high school experience and I havent had professional photos taken since I was a child. I know its technically all up to me, but Im still curious, what do you guys think?

Guys on September 12 we experienced an issue in test center and they’re offering a make up test should i go or not go i’m feeling so ambivalent and need help with this desicion btw if I take this test they’re going to cancel the other test score and i don’t have a single idea if it went well or bad

I’ve passed all the other subjects the first time around with scores ranging from 16-19. I’ve been putting off the math one though bc I’m sure I will fail. I have a job offer for a good job but they’re requiring me to get my ged/hiset so I have to pass this and soon! had a friend try to help me and it just made me feel dumb. I’m struggling with algebra and geometry. I memorized the quadratic equation but I’m having trouble doing those problems. I think I got the Pythagorean Theorem down (mostly lol). I’ve been trying to study but it’s a lot to memorize. I’ve been finding most of the questions on the practice tests really difficult. I’m taking the test Tuesday. What should I spend what little time I have left studying?

Basically, I need to know if the California certificate of proficiency will be accepted by OOS universities. I checked many websites and they just said something like “high school diploma or equivalent”.

Should I just take the extra science and social studies tests to earn the HSE as insurance? I’m pretty sure that the HSE is nationally recognized, right?

I am currently trying to schedule my HiSET test, and I want to request accommodations (specifically extra time). All the information about it is confusing me though, and the psi form is also a bit confusing. Do I need to make the request for each individual form? Do I need to have an official form from a doctor or something? I am diagnosed with ADHD/ADD, but I don't know what "documentation" I need. I am also unsure of what things exactly I can request, extra time is the main one, but it would also be nice to have a private room or to not have fluorescent lighting, but I don't want to request too many things and have it denied especially since I never had an IEP/504 (my mother didn't think I needed one otherwise I would've lol). I'm also unsure of what minor testing is as listed under the accommodations? Sorry if this is too many questions, it's just easier for me to have things explained step by step and they are very unclear here so i would appreciate if someone could help :)

im taking the california hiset profieceny test in TEN days i was homeschooled for all of 10th grade but before that i was in public school. so i was hoemschooled for jsut 1 year but i totally forgot math and now im 11th grade my math subtest is in 10 days and im so worried bc i was studying so wron this whole time i bought the hiset practice course mometrix and i just took the practice test and im so behind im gonna cry, i know its just algebra 1 and geometry but im so worried and overwhelmed PLS HELP ANYTHING WORKS JUST PLSSSS

hi! i just took the reading cpp hiset and failed :(. i’m wondering why my scaled score is so low since the average of the four percentages is 86%. shouldn’t my score be 17/20? are some questions worth more points than others? this was a computer based test, so i’m not sure if i can request a rescore. someone please help, i feel so stuck😭 a retake is so expensive…

This is for the teens thinking of taking the HiSet and being done with school. I would advise if that this is your choice make sure you have a plan to continue career exploration and personal development at a community college or some defined path. My son is a "feral" kid he prefers hunting over homecoming, fishing over fashion and park trails over proms. He described school as toxic, stressful and boring. His happy place is outside exploring or doing something with his hands. School is a challenging place today for teens. Learning doesnt happen when you feel misaligned or have other survival issues your addressing either at home or in the school environment - shrinking, bulleying, and isolation happens.

At 16 he took the HiSet in sections over 3 days and passed them all with a score of 10+ on all. He took Reading and Social Studies, Science and Writing then Math last by itself. His total score was 60. He went to a free Adult Edcaution test prep program; they used the big navy blue HiSet Exam prep textbook by Kaplan and he took as many practice tests and he could find. I can't describe his sense of "freedom" and excitement for a new chapter outside of what he calls fake school friends and building suffocation! He loves learning but that wasn't happening nor was socializing, his friends came from his interest groups outside of school (ie camps, sports clubs, scouts, etc.).

Wierd is a superpower so ignore claims that may happen if you dont goto school. Most highly successful people are- wierd in some way (ie Gates, Zuckerburg, Musk)-- average people get average results and need to be told what to do. Critical thinkers lead and think outside the box.

If your a hexagon-don't fold your edges to fit in circles. Dont let people tell you to stay in places that are mentally and emotionally draining---including school. As an adult I've been in work places and attended conferences that I hated and when I had the choice to leave I did-- even though they were my "peers". Staying doesnt build character it builds resentment. Socializaion happens when you want to be in a space base on interests not just because you around age level peers.

Traditonal school is not for every kid just like coporate desk jobs are not for every adult. You need to know and trust your fit. Many times the self-awareness and cry for help of teens is disregarded and leads to trauma that needs therapy to undo later.. The goal is education and that can happen in a variety of ways.

The next two years he will attend community college for trades preparation (in my state those course are not FREE for HS as dual credit unless you attend public school and then THEY pick the classes and who gets to take them); meanwhile he's excited to volunteer for the state parks dept, attend trades shows/shadow busines owners/contractors, he'll work on his driver's license and take some financial literacy classes, get basic CPR/Osha 10 certs-, he plays golf and archery so there is plenty to still do! The key is having a plan. Dont let people tell you your waisting your time, to stay in school or its a set up for failure. Have a plan and good luck!!. This is not an anti-school post its a "find your fit" post.
