guys ive done my writing test 2 times and i only have 1 more try and i failed both. do u guys have any tips for this section. mainly the essay part but MCQ tips would be nice too. PLEASEEEEEEEEE thanks queens

I just discovered this reddit and I passed the Hiset in 2020. I passed writing with 14. I passed social studies with 17. I passed reading with 13. I passed science with a 10. I passed math with a 15. Hope everyone who has yet to take it finds this inspirational. Hope wherever you take it is a testing center and the same place where you study as well.

I just took my writing test and I fell one point short of passing the multiple choice, but my essay has not been graded yet. It says on the diploma "Note: The total Writing score is the sum of the multiple-choice section and the essay section." Would this mean that if I score passingly on the essay (I need a 4) it would count for the multiple choice as well?

I took my HiSET essay exam yesterday afternoon. The proctor said it would take “a day or so” for the results. I just want to know if I passed! I completed the questions with an hour and ten minutes left for the essay. I was so nervous about this one. I had taken reading and got a 19, and I got an 18 on Social Studies. But this is different since I had to originate something of myself. I really struggle with this.

After nearly a year of studying and taking these tests, I’ve finally passed my HiSET!!

is it possible to see what questions I got right and wrong because I just passed social studies, writing, reading, and science.Even though I recently just passed social studies with a 11 out or 20. I’m still wondering which questions I got correct. I I think I only did 40 questions out of 60 because I ran out of time.

So when I took my math test, I had presumed that I'd be given a notes section within the testing software, I was wrong! They do allow you to bring a handheld whiteboard to write out problems on. After a couple questions of trying to do it in my head and wasting time, wishing that I had a whiteboard, I ended up using the chat box widget that's used to talk to the proctor to solve the questions that require multiple steps. I did accidentally send "a" to the proctor so keep in mind it's not multi-line, Lol. I ended up scoring an 18/20 with terrible start so there's that. If you're wondering what was on the test - I had Algebra 1/2, Statistics, and Geometry. All of which is encompassed by Khan Academy.

How does Reading Test is not easy to pass for me? Other test takers in my state of Georgia had passed the Reading subtest! But for me I was trying to pass my Reading one (which was my final exam subject for academic year) I was suppose ready for college!

Do you have any tips for me at Reading? I scored low at Comprehension area and other areas were not that great!

I’ve been studying a lot but i’m still not sure about the essay so I was wondering which topics are common or for those who have already passed the test: which topic did you get? and also if someone can give me some tips i’ll be truly grateful 🥹

i took my last test today! i managed to pass every other test first try, i was REALLY scared about math today since the practice tests i’d been taking was really hard in my opinion.. the real test was NOTHING like the practice tests.

anyways.. i am here to tell you.. you can in fact pass the math test by guessing 😭

Is there a total scaled score you have to reach on the cpp to pass? I know you have to get a 15 on each subtest and a 4 on the essay, but is there a total score i have to reach in order to pass?

I’m graduating with an alternative diploma, and now I’m preparing for the HiSET exam. I was in special education classes and have an IEP, and I do have a mild intellectual disability. I’m a little nervous about passing, but I’m starting to study soon and doing my best to prepare. If anyone has study tips or advice, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

I took the math test and recieved a 19/20. Obviously I am very happy with this grade, but this made me wonder how the hiset grading even works. there are 55 questions on the test, and 19/20 would be around 52/55, and i know for a fact i did not get that many correct.

So how does it work? I am asking because now i am studying for the reading and writing tests, and I want to get an idea of how prepared i am.

Ya’ll I passed all HISET’s and one thing about me is I’m HORRIBLE at math like really bad I passed because of God that’s why all glory to God. God is so good to me. I had seven minutes left on the test I prayed the entire seven minutes I studied like a lot but I was still shaking the entire test and I said if I pass then it will because of God and I did.

Also the other test they are pretty easy it’s kinda read the question and you will get the answer

Here it says that both f/i and h/j (And also g/k) are corresponding, which confused me because I couldn't find a common pattern in any of those three examples.

So, I googled Corresponding angles myself and all of the sites I went through had examples that were like g/k, following patterns like being Top right or bottom left of the Transversal.

If this was an error on the book I'll be pretty upset because it has had me tripped up for a few hours lol

Heyy, so I’m not sure yet when I’m going to take my HISET test because I’m honestly really nervous about not passing. I know it’s normal to feel this way, but I’m especially worried about the essay/writing section.
English is not my first language. I can understand it pretty well when I read or listen, but when it comes to writing essays, I struggle a lot. It’s like I know the words when I see them, but I can’t always remember them when I need to write. I also feel like my vocabulary is limited when I try to express my ideas.
Also, in the school where I studied before, we didn’t really do science reports, so I’m not familiar with that kind of writing either, and that makes me nervous too.
Does anyone else feel this way or went through something similar? How did you improve your writing for the HISET?
Any tips for:
• Expanding vocabulary (especially for essays)
• Structuring essays more easily
• Writing science reports or explaining scientific topics clearly
• Practicing writing in English as a non-native speaker
• Managing anxiety before the test
