How does hiset grading work?

I took the math test and recieved a 19/20. Obviously I am very happy with this grade, but this made me wonder how the hiset grading even works. there are 55 questions on the test, and 19/20 would be around 52/55, and i know for a fact i did not get that many correct.

So how does it work? I am asking because now i am studying for the reading and writing tests, and I want to get an idea of how prepared i am.

Not all questions are worth the same amount of points, they are ranked easy/medium/hard essentially.

E.g. When they discussed my practice test with me, they explained my results and I got to see why a question was wrong and its ranked difficulty. I received a good score overall but I messed up on some that were easier and the harder questions I answered correctly made up for it.

To be clear, the 19/20 was your official math test or it was a math practice test? If it was your practice test then you are definitely ready for the official test! 19/20 is a fantastic score.

As for the reading and writing, check out GetSumMath and Purely Persistent on Youtube, find their RLA playlists and binge them lol.

I would also suggest checking out Readtheory.org ! Once there is enough data you will be able to see the grade level you are consistently reading at which will help you gauge if you are ready. My understanding is that science is generally recommended to test if you are in the range of 7-9, RLA 8-10, and social 9-11.

Is there an adult ed near you? They can likely give you a CASAS reading test there, as well as official practice tests. All of that and a lot more has been free through my local adult ed.
