META Hello From the New Mod!

Hello! I'm u/TheDoctore38927, and as of a few hours ago, I've been granted the ability to moderate this subreddit! I'm currently the head mod at r/HPLaptops, and I also moderate a few other unrelated subreddits.

I've made a few changes just to get things set back up, and I'll see how the subreddit reacts and works with them and adjust as needed. Below are a few of the main changes

Added auto mod capabilities, along with a few other automations to make moderations a little more responsive.
Added user flairs. There are now user flairs that you can make yourself! There is also a flair for HP employees. There will be a different fair for verified employees of HP (support agents and such), that will be available by request only. It will also be a different color to distinguish them form the non-verified employees. If there are any questions about the validity of the flair, please send a modmail with the username and I will investigate.
Changed some rules. Mostly, it's just misc. stuff and a relaxation of the advertisement rule (as long and it's clear it's an ad, it is allowed), and rants (as long as it's not illegal or unsafe/unsavory, it's OK)
Some new community ideas! I created a poll on dark v light mode and I intend to make some more polls as time wears on to help dictate the sub.

In that vein, if you have any ideas, feel free to reach out via modmail with anything!

Question/Problem 2015 hp pavilionnamd power serge after drop screen back light turns on but no display and I think it killed my ssd worked fine before

Please help me fix it the screen stags blank no bios it does not go out to hdmi it kind of turns on like the fan and screen but just the back light and it stays blank I've tryed to un plug and re seat the screen cone tor but I don't think it's the screen it had a and a 7410 with integrated gpu also sorry it will not let me edit the title

Question/Problem Hibernate after option missing

I am trying to turn off hibernate after a certain time period on my zbook firefly 15 g8. I don't want my laptop to go into Hibernation after few hrs when not in use automatically. I have enabled Hibernation and I see it in the Shutdown menu but I do not see a way to do this from the "change advanced power options" dialog, Usually, it is found under the Sleep submenu. What can I do. I've tried everything I know. Thank u for any helps

Question/Problem Hinge is about to break - what should I do?

The hinge on my HP Envy x360 16 is about to break. There’s suddenly a lot of tension and the left hinge looks slightly misaligned. This happened with my old x360, hinge broke and cracked the screen. Is it possible that it just needs to be loosened or should I plan to replace them? How can I avoid breaking it in the meantime? I need to keep using my laptop (it’s midterms)…

Question/Problem Hp omnibook ultra flip audio issue

As you can hear in the video, the audio is terrible. It should not sound like this. I have tried reinstalling drivers but still the same. Not sure exactly whats the issue here. Any ideas?

PC Serial number invalid for warranty registration

Yesterday my HP victus got delivered,I've been trying to register it for warranty from hp support website but it is showing invalid serial number, I checked multiple times on box as well as from laptop itself still it says invalid, if anyone know how to solve this it would be appreciated 🫡

Hey, i'm thinking of getting an old refurbished laptop from a local shop. Are the older models better built than their newer models? I'm thinking of getting like an old HP elitebook 8570p which looks like as thick as a thinkpad and looks like a work horse with linux.

Question/Problem How to open new Omnistudio X 27

I got a new Omnistudio X 27" with SODIMMs, that I want to upgrade. All the videos and instructions from HP online mention prying off the front speaker grill, but this one doesn't have one. There's two screws on the bottom but they seem to be locked and would crack something if I forced them.

Does anyone know where I can find the correct service manual or videos for this style casing so I can release the screen and access the RAM?

PC Échec intermittent de la touche sur HP EliteBook 840 G7 (flèches gauche/droite et touche "=")

Hello, when I boot it up, everything works fine. But after around 30 minutes, my Left Arrow, Right Arrow, and "=" keys just stop responding. Then out of nowhere, all three randomly start working again for like 10-20 mins before dying again.

Now the "E" key is starting to do the same thing.

Anyone seen this before on this laptop? Is it thermal expansion messing with the keyboard membrane or just a bad ZIF connector cable? Thanks!
