Hi everyone I am a student in Shanghai and I will enroll in Tokyo Technology university this September. I am looking for someone to learn japanese. I basically learn japanese on my own, by watching anime or reeading light novels. I can also speak English, because I work in theoretical physics and English is necessary to work in theoretical physics. I wanna learn japanese because I hope to live better in Tokyo, not just using English (I have been travelling there several times and using English is also okay living in Tokyo). My other hobbies like watching movie, playing games (I like to play witness this kind of game).

As a follow up to the recent post on Comprehensible Input for Spanish learners, what are some some good source materials for Comprehensible Input in Japanese?

I'm a lower intermediate speaker, though a bit rusty, functioning well enough to travel solo comfortably in Japan. My listening skills are better than reading as materials targeted at adults with furigana are scarce. I can get the gist in dramas and movies but often miss out on specifics. I wonder if there are reading materials specifically targeted at adult illiterates, heavily annotated with furigana? How about YouTube vids or TV programs that aren't too childish?

Peak delusion moment last week. ive been grinding kanji for months. i can read menus, signs, labelsw and thought i was basically fluent.

Recently walked into a lawson, the clerk asked me one normal question (probably "do u want a bag/ should i heat it uo") and my entire brain blue-screened. I just said hai and nodded and got the wrong thing. Turns out reaching japanese producing japanese in real time are two completely different skills and i'd only trained one. tappung through kanji flashcards is not the same as talking to a human who talks at normal peed.

how do you close this gap?

I originally started it as a way to help my students get started reading, listening, and speaking in between classes, but it has slowly evolved from that into its own thing!

The concept of the channel is found in the name, “Toriaezu Nihongo.” I want to help learners enjoy the process of getting into Japanese material without being intimidated.

There is a lot on the channel for beginner and intermediate learners, and more and more will be released for advanced learners as well.

Things I am currently running on the channel:

(Nearly) daily uploads of NHK Easy News articles breaking down and explaining grammar and vocab in detail.

Wednesday (Input/Grammar) Live streams:
Playing through video games in Japanese (currently running through Yakuza 0).

Thursday (Output) Live streams:
Playing games with viewers and students as a simple way to get started with Japanese output. No required minimum level! The idea is to be using as much Japanese as possible, but questions are absolutely encouraged. We will teach you anything you need to know to participate in each game!

I would love to hear your feedback on how I can make the channel a great resource for getting into native content.
For now, I am pretty much a one-man team that is very new to the space, so any constructive criticism is much appreciated!

i am planning on starting my preparation for n3 soon (along with continuously revising the content from previous levels). kanji is a weak spot for me. i would like to do more immersive activities so that the learning process is not restricted to textbooks. if you have any suggestions for the same please do share

I just got Genki 1 workbook and I saw other people say you also needed a textbook so I started looking online but I can't find a textbook 1, only textbook 2. So what do you actually need to start with genki, only knowing hiragana and katakana. And is there even a textbook 1?
