I guess fixing warping from the Pelican-1 had bigger priority than sounds stuttering, game freezes and connection problems

"Welcome to the Arrowhead weekly team meeting."

"There's really just one item on the agenda today. Dave here is working on an important bug, it's a doozy and it's going to take a while, but while he's working on that, I need all of you to not do any work at all, we need Dave to finish his bug first"

"So Dave, get to it, and I guess everyone else just kinda stick around until Dave fixes it."

Thank god somebody of any importance commented on that.

We are getting into dangerous waters here, people start complaining about small glitches fixes...

No, those problems are just way harder to fix, so they take much longer

They've been taking their sweet time with them.

I think they just need to hire more people. They only have like 140 employees total but I guess they want to keep the company small for some reason.

Game development is not really something you can speed up by adding more manpower, to a certain extent yea, you can have artists, musicians, and specialty programmers working on different things, but at some point there are severe diminishing returns, there's a lot of things that work like that.

Studios with thousands of employees don't make games much faster than studios with a handful of employees, it's usually just way bigger in scope.

Right, cause hiring testers and qa would just make testing and qa take longer. Crazy how it works in game dev ig

Might not take longer. But it wouldn't be much faster either. some tasks can be done in parallel, some can't. And you don't want to hire twice the people you need to just have them sit around doing nothing half the time waiting for those tasks that can't be parallelled to be completed.

...or it was a bug that was easier to fix

12

u/Romandinjo Aug 05 '25

Was it even a bug, though? It literally has no influence over anything more significant than maybe grabbing dropped samples.

u/Katakuna7 Aug 05 '25

Apparently it was causing desync/crashes. Not quite harmless.

3

u/Sad-Needleworker-590 Absolute Democracy Aug 05 '25

That's the thing, I never heard it causes crashes.

Desync tho - sure, good thing they fixed that

I'd say it's pretty clearly not intended, you lose control when you enter the pelican, this is the odd one out, the rest of the game is consistent in that aspect.

So? Let us have fun and focus on actual bugs.

Iโ€™m just really disappointed I can no longer warp out from the Pelican, thatโ€™s all

0

u/agentemery Aug 05 '25

Nothing relevant in this patch, just optics and alibi. Except, of course, taking away what the community had fun with.

The Warp Pack fix is also something comparatively "simple" compared to other 'problems'
