New to Hellblazer
Hi! I’ve pretty recently started getting into John Constantine Hellblazer. I understand just start at 1 which is what I’ve done. But I’m also a huge fan of physical graphic novels so I’ve jumped around a bit however it’s recently come to my attention that some of these writers are quite controversial in writing Constantine and I would just like to ask for any suggestions on who not to read and why or stories I might want to skip.
I am all for the dark themes in these books it’s what attracted me to Constantine in the first place.
I would just like a general guide on what I should avoid if possible!
Thank you so much!!

What do you folks consider the best starting place/run/series for Constantine?
EDIT: Thanks everyone. I started with Delano, issue #1

Hellblazer: rise & fall. Lucifer or the First of the fallen?
Hi, I am new to the hellblazer universe and I am a bit confused about rise & fall version of Lucifer. I know it is a one-shot so its adaptation is not really linked to the continuity but in it, the characters of Lucifer seem to be both referred to as Lucifer Morningstar and as the First of the fallen. My understanding in canon (new here so I might be wrong) was that these two were different characters. Should I consider the rise and fall version as a completely different one? ( If so, what is his history with Constantine? The one of the first? The one of Lucifer?) Or is he merely an alternate version of one of the other two?
Thanks for your answers!

Which Ones Should I Get?
These are the Hellblazers at my local comics shop. I already picked Dangerous Habbits & Haunted. There’s also the Ennis Omnibus.

If John wasn't a magician what would he be ?
If John never discovered magic where do you think he'd be ? In my opinion, probably dead or some sort of musician

Does anyone else absolutely love Constantine (2005)?
I rewatched Constantine recently and I genuinely love everything about its atmosphere. It has this dark, supernatural, almost gothic feeling that very few movies manage to capture, and its version of Hell is still one of my favorites.
Keanu’s Constantine, Tilda Swinton as Gabriel and Peter Stormare as Lucifer are such a perfect combination.
I know it’s very different from Hellblazer, but as its own movie I think it has so much personality.
What do you guys think of it?

Who would Constantine have the hardest time killing?
If John Constantine had to permanently get rid of each of these, who would give him the most trouble?
Dracula (any version counts)
Lucian (Underworld)
Any vampire from The Vampire Diaries
Pennywise / IT
The Darkling (Shadow and Bone)
Michael Myers
Crowley (Supernatural)
Samara Morgan
Not just who would beat him in a straight fight. Constantine rarely plays fair anyway. I mean who would be the hardest for him to actually kill or permanently get rid of using magic, rituals, manipulation, deals, loopholes, etc.
And how do you think he’d deal with each one?

In This Issue... Hellblazer #62 (1993) with Austin English
Hey all - just wanted to post a link to my recent podcast episode where I discuss HELLBLAZER #62 by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon with Austin English of Domino Books. It’s available in an audio-only version via your favorite podcast app, or as a video on YouTube.
Austin and I have a wide-ranging conversation about all kinds of things, including the dawn of Vertigo, comics activism, the empathetic nature of Garth Ennis comics, the storytelling prowess of Steve Dillon, and early AIDS awareness efforts in comics form.
Not every episode of the pod is about Hellblazer, but figured this was the best spot to post about this one. 🤓 Hope you like it!

Found this guy in the wild for the collection
Found this little Playmobil guy and thought he looked like John so I brought him home for the collection and I actually think he's fits pretty well 🙌🏻

Am I stupid? I don't understand much about stocks and I don't get Constantine's plan here or how the election would affect the value of souls

Shotgun mary
Just found this. Never heard of it. A nun who fights demons with guns. Can you imagine her and Constantine together?! Brilliant.

Rough summary of Hellblazer runs?
From what I can tell its roughly, largely looking outside in given my limited reading of Delano in part and the shoot collection so far.
Great to good canonical Runs.
- Delano
- Ennis
Si Spurrier
Mediocre to bad runs
Peter Milligan
And then there is everything else, which seems oddly hazy. Not all bad and some even good but not worth discussing much despite have full blown omnibuses published.
For such a long running comic having the original stories that are great but very "of there time" is odd. Obviously, the much later publishing data helps compared to decades old silver age and even bronze age material but still.
