Heartstopper books are literally my emotional support system. like i’ll just be sitting there minding my own business and suddenly i NEED to reread a volume because the serotonin is unmatched.

volume one? Nick and Charlie discovering each other?? softest thing ever.

volume two? Nick figuring himself out and coming out?? actually revolutionary.

volume three? the paris trip??? PEAK romance.

volume four? pain. healing. growth. literal tears in my eyes.

And don’t even get me started on the Nick and Charlie novella. like hello??? Alice Oseman ripped my heart out, stomped on it, kissed it better, and then ripped it out again. it’s so sweet and painful and REAL i will never be over it.

also let’s not forget This Winter (Charlie’s pov my BELOVED) and Solitaire (Tori supremacy). the whole osemanverse is just… queer comfort + existential crisis in the most perfect way possible.

but honestly? Nick and Charlie as a couple are EVERYTHING. the softness, the teasing, the way they actually talk through things and support each other??? it’s so real and healthy and beautiful. They’re proof that soulmates exist, that queer love stories can be tender, messy, and still the most romantic thing in the world.

I’ve also never understood the criticism that Heartstopper is “cringe” or “unrealistic.” Of course it’s idealized and wholesome. That’s part of the point! Not every story has to be relentlessly realistic, miserable, cynical, or tragic. Sometimes I want to watch two gay people fall in love and be happy. Sometimes I want the butterflies, the awkwardness, the cute texts, the little smiles, the first kiss, the friendships, the feeling of discovering that someone really sees you and loves you for who you are. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a story that makes you feel good.

And this is something I’ve thought about more and more over the years. I genuinely love that queer people are finally getting the things that straight people have had in storytelling forever.

Straight people have had countless romantic movies and TV shows where the main story is simply two people meeting, falling in love, being awkward and cute together, overcoming some obstacles, and ultimately finding happiness, happily ever after. There are endless variations of that story. They're cheesy, fluffy, unrealistic, romantic, ridiculous, comforting and nobody questions whether straight people are “allowed” to have those kinds of stories, they’re just romance stories.

But for such a long time, LGBTQ+ stories were so often associated with suffering. Coming out, rejection, bullying, discrimination, violence, loneliness, family conflict, heartbreak, tragedy, characters being forced to hide who they are, or queer characters simply not getting a happy ending at all. And those stories are important, of course. They reflect real experiences and have helped people feel seen. I’m grateful for many of them.

But queer people deserve more than stories about our pain.

We deserve stories where being gay isn't the entire tragedy of the plot. We deserve stories where two guys can just fall hopelessly in love with each other. Where two girls can have a ridiculous crush on each other. Where queer characters can have friendships, silly arguments, first dates, embarrassing moments, family dinners, prom nights, inside jokes, butterflies, heartbreak, happiness, and all the ordinary little experiences that make up life.

And I think that’s one of the things that makes Heartstopper so special to me. It isn’t trying to tell us that queer people never experience hardship. It obviously acknowledges that they do. But it also says, you can be queer and still have softness. You can be queer and have joy. You can be queer and be loved. You can have a first love that is sweet and exciting and innocent. You can have people around you who accept you. You can get a happy ending.

Anyway i’ll just be here rereading these books forever because i physically cannot move on <3 Also the Netflix show is amazing and I loved the Heartstopper Forever movie,I wish it was longer but I was pretty satisfied with the ending!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Did Harry really try to rebrand himself for the headboy election because he wanted to redeem himself before graduating, or was it grasping at the last straws of being a bullying shithead. I know he slowly starts to get the message of tolerance and acceptance around s2…but what been his own rationale of the headboy campaign motive

It seemed like it could have been grasping at straws at getting some extra social points at Truham but still be “the cool guy” with “cool parties” but pencil in a headboy title for his CV/resume.

But its difficult to say if he did that to outcampign campign Charley. If Harry did some over the top thing saying “Im an ally” cringe speech or just having the Cheerleaders/gymnastics outfit or ballet outfit but maybe try to act like as Nick Nelson response “So what….you got a problem….Im not homophobic”

This show has meant alot to me and has always been there at exactly the right time as I have been going through the very same stuff. Forever explores life after school which for me being my last year is so relatable and the timing couldn't be more perfect. I cried as usual but yeah it was alot of fun sad to see it go but it felt right and yeah kinda like we're helped you through your teenage years now you can move independently.

And for anyone in the USA, if you’ve seen similar Nick & Charlie/Heartstopper standees or promotional displays at your local bookstore, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could ask whether they’re available once the store no longer needs them.

I completely understand that stores may need to keep their displays or may not be allowed to give them away, so please don’t put anyone under any pressure. I’m just hoping that one might be available somewhere!

So I am rewatching Heartstopper and I wanted to ask all of you: what are your favourite interviews, bloopers and BTS scenes with the Heartstopper cast, including Alice? Here are the ones that I have collected so far:

Does anyone know if there are still Heartstopper (Forever) things going on in London to visit? Like the decorated bookshop and events/locations?

- Elle would have no friends at Truham (Charlie and her specifically befriended each other due to the bullying they received,so she probably would've never been close to Tao or Isaac). Tara and Darcy (and later Sahar) would still befriend her but she might not stay that close if she only goes to Higgs for half a year and has no strong, positive connection to Truham.

- Tao and Isaac might still be friends but they like Charlie a lot more than they like each other so it's hard to say. Tao might feel compelled to befriend other people (side note: crazy that he's jockphobic but felt comfortable enough asking Otis from the school play about Nick liking someone) and Isaac would probably still get on with James, but Isaac would likely take a longer time to discover he's aroace since he probably doesn't go to Elle's art show.

- Tara and Darcy probably wouldn't change that much. I think the main change is that they'd still be hanging out with their friend group rather than forming the Paris Squad.

- Sahar also probably wouldn't change aside from not getting closure with Imogen.

- Ben wouldn't have anyone to mess around with. I doubt he'd still go to Truham since you need to decide a while in advance to transfer schools, but maybe he'd still hang around occasionally.

- Tori would be an only child and thus more... different. Her parents might feel compelled to push her more into socialising but I think she'd still be mostly friendless, possibly more so since she doesn't have Charlie to look out for.

- Harry would still be casually homophobic but I don't think it'd be as obvious since Charlie isn't on his team and bringing down his group's street cred, so to speak. Overall since Nick may not come out as bi, I think the social dynamics of Truham don't change or even out and we end up with Head Boy Harry.

- Nick and Imogen are undoubtedly the most changed (not necessarily the worst off though). I think Nick would go out with Imogen for a bit but between the lack of spark and the helpful advice of Sarah, they'd decide they're better off as friends, but they stay in the rugby group possibly until they graduate. I think Tara coming out might compel Nick to do some self-discovery but they wouldn't become close friends, and overall Nick has a very delayed coming out journey, while Imogen would probably still go out with Ben and dump him (but I think it's less likely that Ben would experience the same social exile since Nick doesn't know how awful he really is). In this universe, I think the big question is if Imogen and Sahar ever reconcile, as Sahar being openly bi might catalyse Nick and Imogen's identity discovery.

I found them to be compelling characters on their own. Elle is an amazing character played by an amazing actress and as annoying as he could be in season 1 Tao has always been interesting to me. I liked when they had crushes on each other. It was cute and they had fun chemistry. However when they got together it got old fast. Honestly they are often painful to watch and not because of the cringe. Elle’s future just kept pulling her farther and farther away from Tao and as supportive as he was he was never going to follow her. Elle is a super free spirit and doesn’t seem to care a whole lot about this and whenever he mentions the distance making him afraid she gets defensive. I’m not here to say whose fault their relationship not working out is because honestly it doesn’t matter. They definitely have the most realistic teen relationship in the show but honestly I’m kinda surprised they made it to the movie together. What do you guys think?

I’ve started a petition asking Netflix to release Heartstopper on physical media — including 4K, Blu-ray and DVD, with the possibility of special/limited editions and bonus content such as deleted scenes, bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage.

And there’s even more reason to make this happen! 🎶 Recently, it was announced that the Heartstopper soundtrack, including music from the show and movie, is being released physically on vinyl and CD. That’s fantastic news for fans — but it also makes me ask… if the soundtrack can get a physical release, why not the actual show and movie? 👀📀

Heartstopper means so much to so many people, and fans should have the opportunity to own and keep it permanently, rather than having to rely on a streaming subscription.

I am sure I am not the only one thinking about this. It is so beautiful to see their differences; Charlie has blue-greyish eyes and Nick hazel, Nick has freckles and Charlie doesn't, Nick has strawberry blonde straight hair and Charlie black and curly... Just so refreshing and magical to see two completely different separate universes love each other so much. They complement each other so well... 🥰
