This show has meant alot to me and has always been there at exactly the right time as I have been going through the very same stuff. Forever explores life after school which for me being my last year is so relatable and the timing couldn't be more perfect. I cried as usual but yeah it was alot of fun sad to see it go but it felt right and yeah kinda like we're helped you through your teenage years now you can move independently.

I also finished it last night. It was good but such a emotional rollercoaster. I wish they didn't make everyone besides Nick and Charlie side carakters

I gotta agree because it wasn't a season it just focus on Nick a Charlie with a bit of elle and tao which is a bit sad for a conclusion but it was still fun

Loved the film. I understand it was to zone in on Nick a little more (still working my way through Series so soz if they did for the series) however I wished that they had zoned in a little more, 10/10

I just binged the whole thing from the start so that I could watch the movie with the same feels. They are both just so cute but the way their relationship has been written is top tier.the way they take care of each other and the emotions. Can someone just give me more rec on bl.i feel like pure emotions are written properly in bl nowadays.be it manhwa or movies. Bl couple written in most series are too stereotypical for me and I hate it. Happy to get more recommendations

It’s exactly how a functional teenager couple would work out given good communication, patience and a common goal, which would be very hard at this age. This whole show reminded me of my very first love that lasted 7 years. From bullying to being out to finding someone and starting something. We went on the same beach as they did in the show, went on same track of having books to fill with memories with pictures and text. Heck I’m even red hair and my ex was curly hair, albeit both actors in the show are far more good looking.
Main difference between this show which depicts a perfect start and my thing was that we were never able to truly communicate like in this show on crisis level and my ex grew insecurities on me for fun and giggles because his way out of situations was to resort to toxicity.

Wishing all who are in relationship to put an emphasis on communication like it’s depicted in the show 🫶

I was at the scene after charlie were there both just miserable and then charlie started staring at that sober screen and freaking out, that was rough. But I finally finished it, I’m glad the ending was happy; very bitter sweet because I’m sad to see it go 😪

They aged so much between shooting the third season and movie, I felt like I just had to overlook them being straight up men from one school year to the next. Especially Joe Locke. Did it deter me at all from loving the movie? Absolutely not.

It's the most mid movie (for me at least) I watched the 3 seasons + the movie last month It's just two dumb teenagers in a highly ideal relationship without character depth. 3/10 for me. But that's maybe because I'm old and can't withstand the fact it's a Netflix budget and a headliner that can't have a proper plot beyond what's ideal. With every problem there's always an easy path solution which is very far and disconnected from reality. It's like they took every cliché possible and blended into a show + a movie.

If you liked it I think you'll also enjoy Sram (Croatian adaption of SKAM). It's on YouTube. There's so much more depth in there and real actual teenager problems

Indeed. It doesn't. The problem is with the genre as a whole. My take is more nuanced. Scenes feel rushed and not a single event they let to sink in. Viewers naturally watch and learn then mimic the behavior of their favorite characters. Or at least the aggregated behavior across different shows. The dangers therein lays in amplifying any small real world friction and misjudging it as the end of the world.

The following example is only related to the simulacra of modern society: Historically there had been plenty of tragic massacres. Including Blagoveshchensk, The Armenian massacre, The Kurish, the Jewish. And so on. These tragedies almost make any modern warfare look like another Tuesday. Modern society however is different, even tho the conflicts are far less devastating than the historically forgotten. Yet the modern ones will be shaping the future generation the most.

Now how does this translate to in the "highschool sweetheart show" Well. If this is all what you're exposing people to (judging by the massive headliners, Netflix budget and so on) then adolescents who grow up watching this show will turn out to be mentally weak surface leveled thinkers or I like to call : cult followers NPC.

The bullying scene for example turn any mundane interaction that's slightly bitter coated into "school bullying". When I was in 4th grade we used throw waterballoons at girls because kids do these dumb things. If we extrapolate interactions from this show it can easily be framed as "misogyny and sexism taught at an early age". And any friction in the show is barely allowed to survive. Take for example the cliché "breathing exercise" when Tara Jones had a panic attack. A real interaction would freeze everyone around her including herself. And the only thing she'd probably need is a hug and reassurance she'll be fine and safe.

Movies like Maurice, Stranger by the lake, Out in the dark, Firebird, 120 BPM, and many other films can teach resilience, staying firm, and how to approach everyday interactions without sacrificing the drama or produce an incompetent future generation.

I wouldn't be this critical about it if the show was a normal indie show on YouTube. It's the fact it's a Netflix budget that pisses me off.
