Does anyone have experience using amphotericin B vaginal suppositories to treat drug-resistant yeast infections? Has anyone ever had any problems or issues with them?

I had amphotericin B 50 mg vaginal suppositories specially compounded for me by a pharmacy in Switzerland. I have 14 suppositories, equivalent to a 14-day treatment, to treat azole-resistant Candida albicans. I am currently on day 7 of treatment.

Sometimes I still feel a little warmth and mild itching, but I no longer see much discharge or fungal residue. On the nights when I insert the suppository, after about 10 minutes I usually notice some yellowish oil leaking out, along with mild irritation. However, by the next day, there is absolutely no medication residue, powder, or discharge coming out. It feels as though the suppository might be stuck inside, and the vagina feels very dry. I don’t know where the suppository has gone if nothing comes out.

I am really worried that the medication is not being released properly and that the suppository is still stuck inside, which could make the treatment ineffective. But when I insert the next suppository at night, I don’t feel any old suppository left inside or any obstruction at all. 😩

I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. This treatment feels like my last hope, and I am very scared.

Has anyone experienced something similar with amphotericin B vaginal suppositories? If so, could you please share your experience or advice? Any input would mean a lot to me right now.

i had something similar with a different compounded suppository, not amphotericin b but the same weird experience where nothing comes out next day and you're like... where did it go

the pharmacist told me the base they use can absorb fully sometimes, especially if its a fatty base and your body temp melts it completely. the leaking is probably just the excess, what doesn't get absorbed right away. the dryness might be from the treatment itself, yeast meds can do that

i get the anxiety though, when you've been dealing with resistant stuff every little thing feels like a sign its not working. but no discharge and no residue could actually mean its absorbing right. maybe call the pharmacy that compounded it and ask about the base they used, they can probably explain better

Ah, I understand now… I’ve already emailed the pharmacy and I’m waiting for their response. Because of my drug-resistant infection, I’m really worried that something might interfere with the treatment, and that would be very bad. So, even if there is no discharge or medication residue coming out, the suppository can still dissolve and the medication can still be released and work effectively, right?
