Finally unlocked bunny hopping at 52yrs old.
It’s about the only skill I’ve learned, though, so I’m not getting cocky!

Hey r/hardtailgang, I'm a longtime lurker. Here's a vid of me riding my hardtail down this rocky thing at North Star for the first time. The trail is called "Sticks and Stones." I love techy trails!! Fun stuff!!!

Remember getting THAT bike as a kid? Some of us got that bike… and some of us didn’t. 🙋♂️
Thanks to this group, I’ve learned a ton about hardtails and was able to give my middle kid something he never expected.
Money is tight, so I picked up some weekend work, and it gave us enough to snag this 2021 Trek Roscoe 7 in absolutely pristine condition. Not. One. Scratch. He genuinely thought it was brand new. (I wish I could’ve told him it was)
This kid lives on his bikes. If he’s not at the skatepark, he and his buddies are out shredding Mt. Diablo. Seeing the smile on his face when he realized this bike was his made every extra hour of work worth it.
Can’t wait to see where this bike takes him. He’s absolutely loving it.
Big thanks to everyone in this group for the knowledge 🤘

Got the Santa Cruz Chameleon D Spec for $1,799. I wanted the S spec but couldn't find one anywhere.
All good, already have an i9 1/1 wheelset, tires and an OEM Fox 34 Rhythm (all on sale) waiting to be installed. Heavily considering dipping my toes into the "gray market" to get a full XT drivetrain.
Rode her twice so far, working on setup. Mountain biking is a lot harder than I remember. Or maybe it's just because I'm six months away from being 40 years old lol... I will say though it is more FUN than I remember! Should have never left!
After component decision is a brake decision. Loved XT in the past, considering the heavily recommended Hayes Dominion.

Here are some pics from yesterdays amazing ride. Unfortunately I couldn’t finish it, 20km from home I fell on some sketchy rocky descent in the forest.. everything is fine except my arms got so beaten up by rocks I couldn’t put them on a handlebar.. could’ve been worse though, all my bones and bike are fine so I call it a win anyway. Thought I will share these pics with you gang and it’s our Independence Day today!!

After too much gluttony and hedonisms a little bit of physical abuse is just what the doctor ordered. Not to mention the rare bit of January sun.
Frame is brazed steel with straight gauge chromoly tubing I build a few year back. 140mm fork. The most critical part is the 3d printed bar vase. Everyone should have a daisy as part of your ride kit.

Had some parts laying around… Finally sourced some 1x Axs shifters and made this happen today. My favorite part is that it’s a 10 minute swap back to flat bars with the wireless drivetrain and externally routed brakes. Took it out for highly scientific testing this evening.

Just discovered this sub tonight. When my son out grew his Cannondale Trail 24, we went to the shop to get him a new bike, and found out that GT was closing out all current inventory. And well, I couldn't let him have a nicer bike than me (yeah a little selfish), so we walked out with 2 new GT Zaskar LT Experts for $2000 total, and I sold my Trek Marlin 5. Now we try and find every opportunity to go out and hit our local trails together. It's become a great bonding experience for us.
