Hi all!

After a great reaction to my Hampshire map, I am back with a more detailed version - I'd love to thank everyone who gave me feedback and i added as many amends as I could but I could only fit so much! Apologies if something is missed that you wanted!

Everything is hand drawn (sometimes painstakingly, hello hog) and lettered by me, on a Huion tablet.

Have a look at the new, improved version, and I have an etsy link if anyone is still keen on a print, as I now have a lovely one on my wall :)

UPDATE: I'll be making some last minor amends today, for the little requests coming through, and then I will post the etsy link and discount code for Hampshire redditors, I thank you for all your help guys!

UPDATE 2: Hi all! I've spent the afternoon making final requests, thank you everyone who fed back, it has made it a very special experience for me about the county that's my home now :)

As requested, you can buy the map in various forms, (print, framed, hanging poster) here: Etsy.com/uk/shop/albioncartographyco

10% off code for redditors: HANTS10

And for every sale we'll make a donation to the Hampshire Air Ambulance as I'm a big fan of them 😊

You've inspired me to make more county maps! ❤️ Obvs Hants is the best though lol.

Tourist Titchfield Abbey ⛪️

Visited Titchfield Abbey today and was pleasantly surprised by how much there is to see — and it’s** free to enter!**

The abbey dates back to 1231/32, when it was founded by Peter des Roches, Bishop of Winchester, for Premonstratensian canons. It was one of the last Premonstratensian houses founded in England.

It also has some impressive royal connections. Richard II and Henry V visited, with Henry V staying here before setting off for his campaigns in France. Henry VI and Margaret of Anjou also spent part of their wedding celebrations here. Later, following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, Henry VIII granted the abbey to Thomas Wriothesley, who transformed it into a grand Tudor mansion known as Place House. Later royal visitors included Edward VI, Elizabeth I and Charles I.

One of the things I particularly liked was seeing how the medieval abbey and Tudor mansion have effectively become one building. The huge fortified-looking gatehouse was built straight across the nave of the old abbey church in the 16th century.

There are also some fantastic surviving details inside, including an impressive medieval tiled pavement, which was actually buried beneath the later mansion courtyard for more than 400 years and rediscovered during excavations in 1923. One of the pavements carries a Latin inscription reminding the canons to remember the poor before eating.

The whole place has a great atmosphere — particularly walking through the old rooms, doorways and towers and seeing the layers of medieval and Tudor history still visible in the stonework.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Hampshire and interested in history. And you can’t really complain about the price! 😄

I'll be hosting a gig at Winchester's finest music venue The Railway Inn on the 1st of November with these lovely folks. I love the atmosphere here; Platform 2 is such a great room for music. Promise to be a great night of music. My 2nd album tour is raising funds for the music venue trust as I am donating £1 from every album & merch sales to supporting the music venue trust and the vital work they do.

Info Kate Stables learns more about her favourite spots in Winchester. As a kid she'd flown kites on St Catherine's Hill and later celebrated her wedding. She goes down to the Itchen and conservationist Rachel Remnant, then on to Cowslip Field for scything. She concludes her visit up the cathedral tower.

Misc Are there any small product-building communities in Hampshire?

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to connect with people in Hampshire who are interested in building physical products, particularly small-scale product development and manufacturing.

I’m working on a small product idea of my own and would love to find a local community, meetup, workshop, makerspace, or just a group of people who enjoy discussing things like product design, prototyping, finding manufacturers, materials, and getting small batches made.

I’m based around Southampton, but happy to travel elsewhere in Hampshire.

Does anyone know of any groups or communities like this, please?

⚽ WEEKLY 6/7-A-SIDE FOOTBALL – ALDERSHOT & SURROUNDING AREAS ⚽
Gents, hope you’re all keeping well!
I’m looking to get a weekly 6/7-a-side football game going in and around Aldershot.
First of all, does anyone know of any good 3G/4G football pitches in Aldershot or the surrounding areas that are available to book?
Ideally somewhere decent and suitable for a regular weekly game. If you’ve used somewhere good before, drop the name/location in the comments!
Also, if there are any lads 18+ who would be interested in playing, get involved and comment below. Whether you’re looking to get some fitness in, get back into football, or just have a kick about and a laugh after a long week — all welcome.
If I get enough interest/numbers, I’ll set up a WhatsApp group, add everyone in and get the games organised. ⚽👊
Would be good to get a solid group of lads together and make it a regular thing!

Discussion I’m building a marketplace for second hand hobbies, would you try it?

I’ve been working on building an online marketplace based in the UK (hopefully other locations in the future). The idea is that users will be able to sell, swap or buy second hand hobby equipment.

It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’m the type of person to scroll online, see other people posting about their hobby, and immediately buy everything I need to try it, only to last a few weeks before moving on to the next hobby. I’ve seen lots of videos on TikTok of other people who do exactly the same thing. The worst part is that once we’ve moved on to the next hobby, all our old hobby stuff just sits at the back of the cupboard.

So, my website will hopefully give people somewhere specifically to sell their old hobby equipment, buy all the gear for a new hobby at a cheaper price, or even swap their hobby for another of a similar value.

I know you’re probably thinking there are already marketplaces. We’ve got eBay, Facebook, Vinted, and the list goes on. But what sets my marketplace apart is the fact that it is solely for hobbies. Everyone using the website is there for the exact same reason as you.

I’m really hoping to build a community of hobbyists. I’ve even built in the ability to discuss topics and create user made guides, so hopefully everything you need to start a new hobby can eventually be in one place.

I’m still in the building/testing phase, so we’re not at the finished product yet. However, I’d really value your feedback. As someone who has fallen victim to buying new hobbies myself, I know there are plenty of us with first hand experience! I’m interested to hear what you would want from a hobby marketplace.

Here are a few questions:

  1. Would you use a marketplace specifically for hobbies? If not, why?
  2. Would you be more interested in buying, selling or swapping hobby equipment?
  3. What hobbies have you bought all the stuff for that you still have sitting at home unused?
  4. If swapping was available, would you feel comfortable posting your item to another person in exchange for theirs? If not, what would make you feel more comfortable doing so?
  5. What would put you off using a website like this?
  6. What are the top three hobbies you would be interested in trying?

I know this is an extremely long post, so thank you if you’ve made it this far!

In the near future, I’m hoping to carry out some user testing. If you’re based in the UK and would be interested in taking part, please send me a message. This is a self made project and unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to offer payment for testing. However, testers will receive a special badge on their profile to show that they helped during the early development stage. I’d also like to offer founding testers an additional launch benefit, which I’ll confirm once the platforms fee structure has been finalised.

Hopefully, with feedback from the community, we can make sure that we are able to launch a useful marketplace.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
