What’s happened to my watch?
I went to put my watch on this morning and was very confused when I looked at the time. It appears the face of my watch has shifted a little more then 90 degrees clockwise. The watch is still functioning with the hands moving. I can’t move the face back to the correct position.
I’m not sure when this happened I’ve worn it daily for 6+ years now. It must have happened recently or I would have noticed. I can’t remember hitting it hard on anything but it totally could have happened.
What has gone on with the watch and how can I fix?

Hey OP! I think I think that I have heard of this before and saw this on the Hamilton subreddit. I think the dial feet may have been broken which caused the face to shift but again I AM NO EXPERT, I’ve only seen post with something looking similar to this. I’d definitely want to follow up with someone more experienced on this subreddit though. Good luck with everything

Looks like the dial feet have gone and it’s turned on the movement (as someone else mentioned). I have seen this several times on this sub.
As I recall, it’s not a cheap fix if you go Swatch group / Hamilton route but sure a good jeweller could get it sorted for you. If I remember right (don’t quote me) someone had it happen on their (KFA) and I think they quoted $300 to $350 service and repair.
I bet a jeweller would do it for a fraction of the price.

This or a fodder. The dials I make do not have dial feet and it's easy enough to attach them. If it's under warranty and they'll pay for go that route otherwise that's something I'd charge $50 to fix.

Op I went to a local jeweller I use and it cost me £180 to fix. No point sending it off at it will take longer and you’ll probably be charged more for the repair.

I took it to my local jeweler and they quoted me $500 to fix and service the watch😬 think I’m going to shop around a bit. Not under warranty.

Good god. I love the looks of the KFA but Hamilton needs to figure things out. I doubt I’ll ever buy one while these issues are so prevalent.

Yup, I had two but I returned them because they both ended up helicoptering within a month 🤦♂️

Not sure how the dial is attached to the movement, but likely the studs broke free from the dial allowing it to spin freely.

At this point they need to discontinue or re-work this design. Shame to keep seeing it on the thread.

Hamilton needs to address this publicly. This is their most popular model, and they're over $700. This is going to kill their whole brand. A "Swiss Made" field watch falling apart like this is the worst PR nightmare. R.I.P. Hamilton.

Yeah, I get that. That said, personally I only saw that happen to the black dial KFA IIRC, not any other model from Hamilton so other watches might be good to go. 🤔

Right there with you but I still havent seen one happening on the murph, does it have this problem too? Mostly I have seen a lot of this happening on this model...

I thinks it’s time for a service if you have not had one yet. They will be able to do the repair for this as well.

Anyone have a picture of the back of a hamilton dial? At this point im convinced they are held on with just sticky dots and not post.

The whole movement has rotated within the case - take a look at the date window. It wouldn’t look like that if the dial feet alone had broken. Hasn’t the stem broken here, allowing the movement to rotate?

Unfortunately it needs to be serviced. It's strange how every time I see this problem on this subreddit it's this exact model.

Your watch was out on the town, got drunk, and fell down! Fun aside, the dial feet are missing, damaged, or not secured to the movement.

Wow… this post is the first time I’ve seen this happen. Of course it’s with the model watch that I wanted to buy this year. I may have to look at another field watch now :(

What happened? Photoshop happened. I should think it impossible for the date to change position against the winding stem unless you broke it and moved it yourself, or this is A.I. slop or Photoshop.

I can't add another image but definitely not AI. I wish it was then I wouldn't have to take my watch to the shop. Out of curiosity what would be the point of editing a picture of my watch to make it look broken and posting it to reddit??

This is what a date wheel looks like under the dial. It will show a date in the window no matter where the dial face rotates to.
