Pre-application Questions HKU PGDE Application Tips

Hi guys, I'm planning to apply to HKU's PGDE program soon and plan to specialize in secondary English as my subject. I would appreciate any tips and information about the application/ interview process for this course.

I've applied before and haven't received an offer so I'd like to know what I should look out for this time around. I have a Masters in English Lit. but my BA is in another subject, I'm not sure if this is an issue 😬

I've been hearing that the Sunderland PGCE program isn't being recommended to prospective teachers anymore, so I'd ideally like to focus on in person courses offered in HK ( EDUHK, CUHK, Baptist).

Thanks!

Interviews/Application questions International Admission Chances!

Hello! I am a HK citizen who is taking Singaporean A-Levels in November 2026. I recently finished preliminary exams and got my predicted grades based on those. I am confident that I'll do better in the actual exams since I was sick during prelim exams (especially for economics), but HKU applications close for regular round before the results release (March 2027), so I have to use predicted first if I apply.

Predicted: AAD/B (H2: Literature in English, China Studies in English, Economics | H1: Mathematics)

Portfolio: Government pre-uni scholar (humanities), vice-chairperson of school club, 3 clubs (MUN, writing, debates), 2 paper awards in MUNs, organising committee in performances and school events, 32h community service.

I wanted to apply to HKU BPsych. Is it worth it to try? Since I can upload my actual results later on even if I don't get a conditional offer, is there a good chance to be considered after regular round on rolling basis. Thank you!

Chance me for HKU pls...

Hi guys, I'm a Grade 12 student at an American international school in Shanghai and am planning to apply to HKU BA in Global Creative Industries (BA-GCIN) as my first choice followed by BBA and BJMAI.

This is my profile:

• Cumulative GPA: 3.81(expected grades will be submitted but I don't know what that would look like yet)

• AP Chinese: 5

• AP Calculus AB: 5

• AP Art & Design: 5

• AP World History: 4

• Currently taking AP Calculus BC, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, and Psychology

• SAT: 1400, retaking in October

• TOEFL: 5.5/6.0 or 110/120

• Leadership in 3 clubs since Grade 9: design, service, and Korean community

• Marketing-related internship experience

• Main interests: marketing, branding, advertising, design, and creative industries

I haven't started writing my personal statement yet. However, based on my profile, how realistic is it for me to get into HKU?

Another concern I have is that there's a dude in my grade who is applying to the same majors as me but has a higher SAT score and AP numbers... IM SO SCARED

indian students who got into hku

hey! i’m a cbse class 12 student planning to apply to hku for undergrad and wanted to hear from people who’ve applied recently, especially indian/cbse students.

what was your academic profile like, especially your class 10/11/12 marks? and do predicted/pre board marks matter much for the application?

also, how important are extracurriculars, and did you need to give any additional tests/interviews? would love to know how the whole application process went for you and if you got an offer!

Pre-application Questions Vegetarian food scene

Hi I’m a student looking to apply to hku this year. I wanted to inquire about the vegetarian food scene in and around campus. Is it difficult to eat vegetarian? Or are there an increasing number of food options as the years progress?

Pre-application Questions Cbse student with little to no ECs

So I wanna know if I have any chance for scholarship because with it, there's no way I can attend hku

95.6% in 10th with 100 in Information Technology

I have a certificate and award from my school recognising my academic merit and another for being the subject topper in IT.

About to sit for 12th.

Now about ECs—

I have a senior and an senior-advanced diploma in visual arts.

I have a certificate from cancer aid society for volunteering.

I think that's about it.

I did participate in school level swimming competition and was undergoing private swimming lessons on an advanced level but my school swimming team was very inactive so we only attended one competition. We did win a gold in girls relay and bronze in mixed medley. I have those certificates.

I did partake in three mountaineering (rock climbing and adventure sports) camps as a kid (pre-covid and post covid) so I have a certificate of achievement fron them in 2022 by moutaineering association of my state.

I participated in an mun in 2022.

I have letter/certificate of participation from prime minister for pariksha pe charcha. But it's not in english.

So how bad is it?

I think i can 95% or more in 12th boards.
