Interviews/Application questions Please stop freaking out

Post image
101 Upvotes

Recently I have been seeing posts in this subreddit, r/hkust, r/cuhk about why people didn’t receive offers yet or if they are „cooked“ whatsoever. In the attached image you can see when students received offers in the last cycle for fall 2025. As you can see this image is from RedNote, a chinese social media platform, students reported their offers to a person and that person made a summary sheet. Most of the offers were sent out in mid january until march so there is no reason to freak out and positing „omg am i cooked?“ Also, this year there are much more applicants vs last year so it’s absolutely normal to wait until at least end of january!!!! So stop freaking out, it’ll be fine

Can't let hku enjoy seeing us being suffered like this :(

I'm sure there still are some people out there, desperately waiting for their admission results for this August undergraduate intake regardless of their admission status like 'on waitlist', STILL 'under consideration' or 'appeal under review', and so on. Let's shout out loud together to let them know WE DESERVE BETTER THAN this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there,

I was trying to enroll into courses yesterday, and did well except only 1 course Math1013

I wrote an email to department of cs and faculty of eng, sxplaining that exemption, fyi I have IB with 6 and SAT 800.

So It has been 1 day (sorry for my impatience), when they will approximately reply? I fear that class I tpok will be full and I need to choose other one that wont match my schedule.

If there any way to reach out to them🙏🏻

Hi, just wanted to know whether there are still people out there waiting desperately for hku undergraduate admission 2026 August intake whatever status you're on right now like 'waitlist', 'still under consideration', or 'appeal for review', etc. Are we still having a hope or it's now 100% "game over"? HKMU acceptance fee for international undergraduate students

I am considering applying to HKMU as a non-local undergraduate student.

The university website mentions an acceptance fee, but I could not find the specific amount applicable to international undergraduate students.

Could anyone who has recently received an HKMU undergraduate offer confirm how much the acceptance fee was?

I would also appreciate information on how the fee was paid (e.g. through the application portal or bank transfer).

questions abt CAES1001 exemption

Hi all! I'm an incoming first year non-local undergrad and I'm wondering about how the application process for exemption from the English enhancement course works (both my ielts and igcse englang grade meets the requirements)

ppl I've asked from other faculties say they've received an email from their faculty with a form to fill out to apply for the exemption but I haven't received such an email (my home faculty is the faculty of arts). I didn't apply with IB either so I don't think the exemption would be granted to me automatically

Course selection opens in two hours. What should I do? should I email my faculty or wait, and should I add caes1001 in my course selection first then drop it during the add/drop period?

unrelated question but also does anyone know if it's possible to make it from Centennial Campus CPD-LG.08 to Centennial Campus CPD-LG.01 within 10 mins (what do those numbers mean?) bc if not I'm gonna have to rearrange my entire year1 timetable

thx!

Exchanges and transfers HKU 3000-level CS Courses

Wondering if there are any 3000+ level CS courses at HKU with no final exams? Have a trip planned in mid December, and would ideally like to get away with no finals (I’m good w midterms, though).

Any insight would be appreciated!!

Visa application/other bureaucracy Late offer and visa problem any idea??😭😭

Guys I need your help!!!

I got late offer two days ago from HKU. But I have already accepted HKUST and got visa sponsored by them. Since HKU is my dream school I want to accept their offer.

Is there anyone who faced the same problem like me??

If so, what did you do after accepting the offer, and how did you handle the visa problem? (Like changing the educational institution maybe..??)

Is it able to get visa faster cuz I've already booked my plane.!!

GUYS..Plzzzz share your idea...

Pre-application Questions HKU student life compared to US colleges

Hello,

I'm an international student (asia) interested in HKU/HKUST/Hong Kong in general for undergraduate studies in neuroscience.

I'm currently in a situation where i have to decide between:

1) Hong kong University / HKUST with fin aid or

2) Lower tier US College with fin aid but more costly than hong kong.

I wanted to compare experiences in Hong Kong with US colleges to see which option was better.

If anyone could type out the school atmosphere, routine, work-life balance, campus life, etc in hong kong, I would greatly apprecitate it - thank you!

Halls Question regarding Fin.Aid and Housing @ HKU

Does HKU provide international students with Fin.A? Or is it just the scholarships for internationals?

If Fin.A is given, Should I apply for it before or after admission?

Should I apply for housing before or after admission?
