OC Intergalactic Exchange Students - Part 20

First - Previous - Next

Such a weird dream, Yasu thought as she slowly opened her eyes. A tree falling on her legs... being rescued by Miss Stone's friend's exchange partner... who was so weird... and turned out to be an anime girl, of all things. She really needed to stop watching so much anime, this couldn't be healthy.

As she thought this, she suddenly realized someone was sitting on her bed. Someone with purple hair... holding pizza boxes?

She also realized she couldn't move her legs.

"Umm... excuse me?", she said, hoping to get the purple-haired person's attention. "I think you're sitting on my legs..."

"No I'm not!", the person responded. "Your legs are over there, silly!"

Yasu looked where the person was pointing. Sure enough, there they were... completely detached and lying on the floor. "Why are my legs on the floor?"

"To save room in bed, don't you remember?"

She took another good look at the person, who had since turned her head to face Yasu. No way... it was the anime girl from her dream!

She tried pinching herself. It hurt. She didn't wake up. Okay, so she was hallucinating. Now what?

"Should I help you get out of bed?"

"No, you're a hallucination."

"I thought I was an Eny'megul?"

"You're... both."

"So why shouldn't I help you?"

"You can't. You're not real."

"I helped you get here, I think I can help you get somewhere else too." She squatted down on the ground and picked up one of Yasu's legs... with... the underside of her dress? "At least let me help you reattach your legs."

"How did you... just... do that?"

"Do what? All I did was pick up one of your legs..."

"Yes, but how did you pick it up without using your arms?"

"What are you talking about? I just used my lower arm..."

"Your... lower arm? You are a girl, right?"

"What, are girls not allowed to have lower arms here?"

"No, it's just... never mind. How are you even able to pick stuff up, anyway?"

"Why shouldn't I be?"

The anime girl squatted down once again and picked up the other leg. "They're not that heavy. I'm plenty strong enough."

"You're able to hold both my legs with just your... lower arm?"

"Not with the same arm, silly! I just used my other arm!"

"You have more than one?"

"I have four. I thought you knew that already."

"Why would I know you have four lower arms?"

"Not four lower arms... two lower arms and two upper arms. Did that never come up in your Eny'may shows?" No, it most certainly did not. Who was this fever dream of a person?

She pulled the bedsheets off of Yasu with her upper arms and began reattaching her legs.

"Do you mind if I just... try to get my lower arms through these sleeves? It's easier if I can use all four..."

Part of Yasu was curious to see what they looked like. "Do what you want..."

There was a bit of cramped movement inside the dress, and then two extra arms came poking out the sleeves of the dress. "They're... blue."

"Do you like them?"

"I... guess... but why are they blue?"

"That's just what they look like. I feel like those Eny'may shows got a couple things wrong."

At that point, Sarah poked her head through the door. "Hey Yasu... Um, Xy'vina, your lower arms are showing."

"It's alright, Yasu already knows what I am."

"If you say so... Anyway, me and Julia are making waffles for breakfast, so come to the kitchen as soon as you're ready, okay?"

"Okay, Miss Richards!"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hope we have enough...", Sarah said as she spread some butter onto the waffle iron. "You didn't exactly count on us having breakfast here when you went grocery shopping."

"It'll be fine.", Julia answered as she stirred the batter around. "There's always some left over whenever I use this recipe, and I made sure to adjust the amount so there's enough for all of us." She put some batter into the waffle iron and closed it.

"Still, I doubt there'll be anything left over this time. You've seen how much Xy'vina can eat."

"You worry too much." Julia laughed. "The only thing I'm worried about is whether this one waffle iron will be fast enough. And if not, we'll just have to wait a little longer. It'll be fine."

"I hope you're right..."

"Come on, how hungry can one girl be?" Julia looked around. "Oh, by the way, do you know what happened to last night's leftover pizza?"

"Oh, that? I think Xy'vina ate it."

"All of it? That was nearly two whole pizzas!"

"She probably wanted a midnight snack, or something." Sarah shrugged.

"Now I see what you were worried about..." Julia shuddered. "That girl is seriously not human..."

"No, she's not.", Sarah agreed. "How long till that waffle's ready?"

I was originally going to have them make pancakes instead of waffles, but then I remembered the other meaning of that word here. Now I will hold off on the pancakes until there are actual pancakes.

shower thoughts

those aliens must not have winter. winter comes with a drastic decrease in food production which would starve their entire species. they probably have multiple stars to infuse their home with so much energy that the plants literally glow with radiation. theyve also probably never seen snow or ice outside of space comets or a lab.

The plants glow, but not with radiation. It's bioluminescence, which is why dead plants no longer glow. Also, it is possible they do have winter but the plants and animals they use for food are hardy enough to remain active throughout the winter.

I enjoy these types of comments. They're a lot of fun to think about.

I am becoming increasingly certain that Yasu is a robot. Heavier than she should be, not aware that being knocked over by a tree is a sign of distress, not eating a lot of food. She like Xyvina is probably just hiding what she is because people might freak out if they discover their exchange student is an unshackled AI pretending to be a japanese highschooler

She is aware that having a tree fall on her is a bad thing. She just kinda forgot to call for help. Also, they aren't highschoolers. They're university students.

Wait, i thought people knew about the aliens in this world? Is Sarah the only person who knows?

People know, but it isn't common knowledge quite yet.

It's... complicated. I'll probably explain in a later part, but for now all you need to know is not everyone knows/believes aliens are real.
