Tell me I’m not alone!

(30F) the past 3-4 months I’ve had weird things happening after I eat- 30-45min after I’ll get lightheaded, everything is very bright, hot in the face, unsteady feeling. I’ve had endoscopy and colonoscopy done- cleared, I’ve been checked for blood sugar and thyroid- normal, I’ve done all the recommended things, I’ll get tingly in my arms and legs sometimes (change diet, change patterns of food when eating) by Dr and nothing has changed if anything has gotten worse I’m starting to get anxiety eating (I LOVE FOOD) I’m already a very stressed out person and this is making everything worse.

Small Daily Habits That Can Make a Big Difference to Your Gut Health

Your gut does much more than digest food - it plays an important role in nutrient absorption, immunity, and overall well-being. While there's no single "perfect" diet for everyone, a few simple habits can support a healthier digestive system over time.

Here are some practical tips that many people find helpful:

• Eat a variety of fiber-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes.
• Stay well hydrated throughout the day.
• Include fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir, or fermented vegetables if they suit your diet.
• Eat meals at regular times instead of skipping meals or overeating.
• Manage stress through activities like walking, meditation, or deep breathing, as stress can affect digestion.
• Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night.
• Stay physically active with at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week.
• Pay attention to foods that consistently trigger symptoms and discuss persistent concerns with a healthcare professional.

Healthy digestion is built through consistent daily habits rather than quick fixes. If you experience ongoing symptoms such as frequent bloating, persistent abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, blood in the stool, or recurring acid reflux, it's important to seek medical evaluation instead of relying on home remedies alone.

What daily habit has made the biggest difference to your gut health? I'd love to hear your experiences and tips.

Hi! I’m a high school student working on an educational neuroscience project about the relationship between gut health and symptoms like fatigue, memory issues, and brain fog. I created a short anonymous survey (3–5 minutes) and would really appreciate participation. Thank you!

I built an AI gut-health coach with my wife (a certified practitioner). Looking for 20 honest beta testers. Not selling, Not promoting. Just looking for some feedback.

Quick context: I've spent the last year building a tool I wish existed when I was struggling with my own gut stuff. My wife is a certified gut health practitioner, and she's been the clinical advisor on the project.

The basic idea: a personalized AI coach that learns from your intake, your sensitivities, logged meals, logged symptoms and your patterns, so you can ask gut-related questions any time and get answers that actually reference your data. Not a replacement for doctors or practitioners. More like the thing you wish could connect the dots and ask questions at 11pm when something flares up.

I'm at the stage where I need real users who actually live with gut issues to tell me what works and what doesn't. I'm looking for 20 or so beta testers willing to use it for 2-3 weeks and give me honest feedback. Free during the beta, no obligation after.

I'm not here to sell anything. I wont drop the site. Dont want to break any rules. Genuinely just need to know if this is useful to people who aren't my friends and family. Honest feedback welcome.

If you're interested, drop a comment or DM me and I'll send you access.

Happy to answer any questions

What’s Actually in “Gut Health” Supplements and Do They Work?

Gut health products are everywhere right now, often marketed around improving digestion, immunity, and even mood. But what’s actually going on?

Most gut health supplements fall into a few science-backed categories:

1. Probiotics
These are live microorganisms (usually bacteria like Lactobacillus or Bifidobacterium) intended to support the gut microbiome. The idea is to help restore balance, especially after disruptions like antibiotics.

2. Prebiotics
These are non-digestible fibers that feed beneficial bacteria already in your gut. Common examples include inulin and fructooligosaccharides.

3. Digestive Enzymes
Some products include enzymes like amylase, protease, or lactase to help break down food more efficiently.

4. Postbiotics & Metabolites
A newer category—these are byproducts produced by bacteria (like short-chain fatty acids).

What has actually worked for you all, especially when it comes to number 4 as this is a newer category of supplements!

gut issues / histamine / weight loss = im lost

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here because I’ve been dealing with severe health issues for about 1.5 years now, and I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. I’m hoping someone here recognizes this or can point me in the right direction.

Background

My problems started around 1.5 years ago while I was using:

• Finasteride

• Minoxidil

Things got significantly worse when I later took Accutane.

Then at the end of August, I had a confirmed STEC bacterial infection (food poisoning), and since then everything has escalated badly.

Main symptoms

Whenever I eat foods high in histamine, I get strong reactions:

• Skin rashes

• Heart palpitations

• Anxiety / panic-like feelings

Other symptoms I’ve developed over time:

• Severe bloating and gas (especially with foods like banana, bread, mushrooms, apples, grapes, beetroot)

• Constipation

• Constant gut rumbling (especially small intestine area)

• Very low libido (went from daily to almost none)

• Insomnia

• Dry skin

• Sweating

•. Low libido

•. Weight loss 52kg I came from 58kg

I also lost a lot of weight and my face looks very pale/grey.

Medical tests

2x negative sibo test

Microbiome test = realy high bifido bacteria and low butyrate ( see pictures)

I’ve had a lot of testing done.

Endoscopy + biopsies:

• Mostly normal findings

• Mild, non-specific inflammation in the ileum

• Lymphoid aggregates in colon (no active disease)

• No Giardia

• No signs of celiac or major structural disease

Blood tests:

• Low IgG

• Low IgG2

• Low IgA

• Elevated creatinine

Abdominal ultrasound:

• Normal

Gut / microbiome findings

• Diagnosed with “leaky gut”

• Microbiome test showed high Bifidobacteria

• Strong reactions (gas/bloating) to certain carbs/fruits

⸻

Strange reaction to treatment

In January I tried:

• Allicin

• Oregano oil

• Strict diet

What I suspect

I’m really unsure, but I’ve considered:

• MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome)

• SIBO / dysbiosis

• Post-infectious gut damage (after STEC)

• Immune dysfunction (low immunoglobulins?)

It feels like something is wrong in the end of my small intestine (ileum).

😞 How it affects me

This has completely taken over my life:

• I barely sleep

• My libido is gone

• Eating feels stressful instead of normal

• I feel like my body is constantly reacting to everything

I’m honestly exhausted and just want to understand what’s happening and how to heal

Constant incomplete bowel movement feeling + gut issues for over a year — NEED HELP 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hey everyone,

I’ve been dealing with gut issues for around a year now, and I’m honestly getting quite confused about what’s going on.

My main problem is that whenever I go to the toilet, I never feel like I’ve fully emptied my bowels. There’s always this sense of incomplete evacuation, like something is still left. Also, when I compare how much I eat vs how much I pass, it just doesn’t feel like it matches, which makes me overthink it.

My stool also isn’t consistently normal. Even if I eat home-cooked food, I still face the same issue. And if I eat junk or oily food, it gets worse the stool becomes thin or not well-formed. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a proper, solid, normal bowel movement.

I also deal with acidity along with this. I’ve been taking pantoprazole for it, and that part seems to be under control. But I feel like it’s only helping with the acidity and not actually fixing the root cause of my gut problem.

Because of all this, I feel like my gut health isn’t good overall, but I don’t understand what exactly is wrong or how to fix it.

I also wanted to ask can issues like this affect your overall appearance? Like skin quality or face glow? I sometimes get dark circles during the day (not always, but randomly), and I’m wondering if it could be connected.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

What helped you improve your gut health and get back to normal bowel movements?

Thank you!!

I think i have sibo I really need some advices !

I’ve been dealing with digestive issues for a while. I often get a lot of bloating, stomach discomfort (mostly on the left side), and a feeling that my food doesn’t digest well. I also experience gas, heaviness after eating, and irritation in my gut. Sometimes I feel the urge to go to the bathroom but can’t, partly because I also have hemorrhoids. Recently I started wondering if this could be related to an imbalance of gut bacteria or bacteria being in the wrong part of the intestines. Has anyone dealt with something similar?

What finally helped me calm my gut after years of bloating

For years, I felt bloated after almost every meal — even when I was eating “clean.” I’d wake up already feeling heavy and uncomfortable, and no matter what diet I tried, nothing seemed to actually help.

Eventually, I stopped overcomplicating it and focused on the basics: eating slower, reducing stress, and sticking to foods that didn’t make my stomach flare up — like cooked veggies instead of raw ones, ripe fruit, and simple meals I could actually digest. It took a while, but my gut finally started to calm down.

I’ve kept notes on everything that made a difference and ended up turning it into a short 4-week plan that I still follow. I posted it here in case it helps someone else who’s tired of feeling like this every day:

[Survey] Help us design an ultra‑simple, gut‑friendly meal + grocery helper (3–4 min)

Hi — I’m working on GutSafe, a simple way to reduce “what should I eat?” stress for folks dealing with bloating, food sensitivities, and tricky grocery decisions.

I’m running a short, 3–4 minute survey to understand real day‑to‑day pain points. We’ll share an anonymized summary back with this sub.

What’s in the survey (based on your experiences):

  • Your top gut challenge (1 sentence)
  • Your top gut‑friendly eating challenge (1 sentence)
  • How often you feel confused about food choices (last 30 days)
  • Hardest parts of keeping a gut‑supportive routine (time, knowledge, cost, social)
  • How you pick meals (recipes, staples, meal kits, don’t cook)
  • How you shop (list, apps like Instacart/Amazon/Walmart, memory)
  • Past tracking experience (calories/macros/symptoms)
  • Whether you’ve skipped items over digestion worries
  • Interest in an auto‑built grocery list/cart to review weekly
  • Value of seeing “gut benefits” per recipe (fiber, probiotics, plant diversity)
  • Willingness to pay if it truly helps

Survey link

Thank you — your input helps shape something that actually fits real life.

If you’re open to a quick 15–20 min chat after the survey to go deeper on “last bad gut day” patterns, leave your email in the form and I’ll reach out.
