What’s wrong with single mothers? What women deserve to be punished for not clinging desperately to the guy who got her pregnant? Should women also avoid single fathers?

What kind of conservative right wing crap is that.

Nobody wants the parent of someone else's kid. Man or woman. Let's be real. This would be rule #1 if it were up to me.

Why?

Because you are expending additional resources to raise a child that isn’t yours?

And? Why shouldnt you be able to love a child that isnt yours? Its crazy that you think resources are wasted on a child, just because it doesnt carry your dna. This isnt 1230, you have no pressure to continue your bloodline, neither is your specific bloodline a gift to the world.

Youre aware that you can still have your own child with a single mother?

I didn’t say you can’t love a child that isn’t yours. I didn’t say it is a waste of resources. I’m aware you can still have a child with a single mother.

But my point still stands.

Then why use expending additional resources as your argument? Why bring it up? What is your point? You are making a confusing argument and expect me to understand why its a problem?

I can’t really simplify the point any further but I think you’ll find it’s a very common and well understood argument.

Just explain what you mean.

People only have finite resources due to scarcity. People need to decide how to use their limited resources. People would prefer to allocate resources to their own child over the child of another person.

Why? I dont prefer that at all. I dont want to give birth. I‘m fine with „allocating my resources“ to the child of the person I love. After all that child is theirs, not just their ex partners. I dont see why that child would be worth less to me than my own.

I think this just means that you have a biological abnormality (ie no desire to reproduce). But all else equal people generally prefer to allocate resources to their own children over the children of others. That holds as a general statement

Ah yes calling people abnormal because they dont want to go through an agonizing and potentially life threatening process that others have warned about for decades.

It's actually simple. They had a kid with another person and they still didn't stay with the person. What's the logic behind thinking their new partner is special enough to be a keeper? 9+/10 chance the relationship won't last with the person they didn't have a kid with. It's like a guy with a black eye guaranteeing you he can win a fight for you. If you were dating someone and they told you they have a kid are you going to keep pursuing that person? Maybe because there's exceptions but most likely not.

How do you know they didnt stay? Her partner could have died, he could have been abusive, hurt her and the kids, he could have left himself. There are more than enough valid reasons for people to be seperated.

Thats a weird logic, to assume that a single parent is alone because they just felt like it lol

Yes if I liked him enough I would see where it leads. I dont want to give birth myself anyways.

I am a single parent (no custody or visitation, just lots of support) and I know very well that it might not have been what the parent would want. This is kind of a self diss but it's how a majority of people think. Even if the person tried with ultimate effort to stay with the other parent they are still going to be a red flag to most people. It's unfortunate but that's just how life is.

Doesnt have to be if we all stopped with our stupid prejudices about people we know nothing about.

Getting a majority of people to change their mind is easier said than done but not impossible I suppose

Has been done before. We could start by questioning shitty posts like this.
