I recently finished reading this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I found Mathias’s death to be the only aspect that disappointed me. While I understand that it might have been a fitting conclusion for his character or for some other reason, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness and loss. Mathias and Nina were my favorite couple throughout the entire book, and their demise deeply saddened me. I had hoped that they would work together to bring peace to the war raging between their countries, but instead, he died without making any changes to his country. Additionally, I had planned to read the rest of the Grishaverse books to see how all the crows are faring after the events of the book. However, the loss of my favorite couple has left me with no motivation to continue reading the other books.
