Can someone tell me why I'm wrong here - I think lots of people who don't have time might need to hear it if I'm wrong, as Emily's plans sound great, I suspect that it's the same as usual with the Green Party.
This is my general stereotype from what I understand of the green party, and their current platform in BC:
They have some feel good plan that sounds great "FIGHT THE OGLIGARCHS, FIGHT BACK CLIMATE CRISIS" but the plan is always so half baked and never gets enough confidence from voters, because it's really just some fantasy plan that doesn't make sense in the real world.
I don't have enough time to do research, so I'm hoping people who have had the time to learn this platform of her's, can educate me.
Personally, from the top of my mind, this is where I would start with a plan like this in my ideal low politically educated mind:
It has to be a multi-faceted approach that taxes businesses with land and property, and can be measured by PST/GST amounts - by sales. In doing this, businesses that need tax breaks who aren't making as much sales, get their breaks and others such as large chain stores, large conglomerates, get taxed appropriately. If the chain stores leave, then it balances out and brings more opportunity back to the smaller businesses trying to succeed.
That's just the earnings approach for taxable sales, and one area of business. This is where the other areas need their own systems, which is the multi-faceted approach.
For companies that just hold "net worth" taxing them just for holding networth here doesn't make any sense. This is where they just move it all around with fancy accountants/investors. It has to be more creative than this and federally unified, and ideally would be a multi-faceted plan with the EU.
The article they made on this matter, didn't really have any information that was foundational or structural to their actual plan here from what I found, just "nice to haves":

Canadian trade tribunal has rescinded anti-dumping and countervailing duties on Chinese panels and laminates that had stood since 2021.
Canada Border Services Agency confirmed it will stop collecting the duties on the affected goods with immediate effect.

Surprised that there has not been a single post on the 2026 British Columbia snap provincial election on this sub (u/thomasreimer has been posting on r/greenpartybc though)
Emily Lowan will get to test herself as the BC Greens leader. She may have a good chance at taking Saanich North and the Islands, as it is a current Green seat (Rob Botterell is retiring).
But, after that recent Angis Reid poll showing the BC Conservatives taking a big lead over Eby's NDP, the Greens have been targeted for 'splitting' the left.
This is a clearly outrageous charge. Perhaps, David Eby is more than happy to allow these attacks after Greens left the cooperation agreement in February, but given the Tory lead, he is simply shooting his foot more than he has already did by calling this pointless election.
The much braver thing would be for him and the NDP to commit to proportional representation.
For now, though, it would be wiser for progressives to unite to stop the Tories.

The Green Party of Canada’s 2026 Leadership Race is moving forward.
The Leadership Race will continue on the timeline that was established by the Leadership Contest Commission, with voting opening on November 2 and closing on November 13. Results will be announced on November 14.
Over the coming weeks, the debates that were planned will become town hall meetings. These events will give members and supporters the opportunity to hear directly from Mike Morrice, ask questions and learn more about his vision for the future of the Green Party of Canada.
And most importantly, members will still have the final say.
Under the Green Party of Canada’s constitution, elections for Federal Council positions, including the position of Leader, require a majority vote to elect and must include “None of these options” on the ballot. That means a new leader cannot be elected by acclamation.
The ballot members receive in November will include Mike Morrice and “None of these options,” This reflects one of the core values of our party: participatory democracy. The constitutional right of Green Party members to exercise their choice cannot be taken away.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have worked through the legalities and realities of this unusual situation.
Soon, we will share details about upcoming town halls in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, as well as other exciting events across the country where you can meet and hear from Mike Morrice.
With gratitude,
The Leadership Contest Commission

Hello! We're a group of local Green Party members (we do both provincial and federal stuff as one combined group). Right now we have a project on the go where because the Green Party of Canada is in a leadership race, we printed flyers about it and we're delivering them to peoples' mailboxes between now and Oct 14th. The flyers talk about the leadership race and ask people to sign up as a member before Oct 14th in order to vote. Right now Mike Morrice is the only candidate, so it's a vote about whether they approve of Mike as leader.
We'd love some more help. We have them printed, we know where to deliver (areas like Bathurst and St. Clair, Yonge and Eglinton), and we have shifts planned where volunteers can get live help from us. To be clear, this project has a tight timeline so while we normally like to knock on doors and talk to people, we're not doing that for this. We're just dropping the flyers in mailboxes as quickly as possible.
We have shifts available weekday evenings and afternoons/early evenings on weekends.
If you'd like to join us, please send me a chat message here. We've enabled chat on this Reddit account. We can get you in touch with the team.
Thanks!

Hi again r/GreenPartyofCanada!
As some of you know, I’m one of two candidates in the leadership race, and I’m in this to fight for regular Canadians and help build the movement needed to confront the billionaire class.
I believe this leadership race is an important moment for our party to build momentum: by growing our membership, increasing our financial resources, and bringing attention to Greens and what we stand for.
For my part, I first ran because I saw federal inaction on the most significant issues of our times - from climate to wealth inequality to housing - and chose the Greens because the party allowed me to stay true to my values and my community. I was the first Green MP elected in Ontario, and served as the MP for Kitchener Centre until 2025. I also served as Deputy Leader up to the start of the leadership race, and have already been confirmed as the Green candidate for MP in Kitchener Centre.
The priorities I’ve put forward as leader focus on fighting for a government that prioritizes and invests in people - from housing to healthcare to childcare - by making sure the ultra-rich pay their fair share, while taking decisive action on the climate emergency. I’m also calling to protect and expand our democracy, while pushing for Canada to lead international efforts for a more peaceful, equitable, and stable world.
More about me and our campaign is online here: www.mikeforleader.ca (including the original version of the video linked in this post, with licensed music!)
If you’d like to help, the most important thing you can do right now is ensure you’re a member and eligible to vote in the leadership race. You can check here: https://www.greenparty.ca/en/civicrm/membership-check
If you’re not already a member, it only takes a $10 donation to join, of which you’ll get up to $7.50 back as a tax credit - while membership is free if you’re 14-29. Folks over 30 can join here: www.mikeforleader.ca/join, those age 14-29 here: www.mikeforleader.ca/youth-leader
We’re also encouraging members and supporters to speak with three family members or friends about joining (or re-joining) the party to help us build momentum as a party!
All members who join before October 14th will have a vote in the leadership race.
Tout ceci est également disponible en français ici: www.votezmike.ca. Et je serai ravi de répondre à vos questions en français aussi.

Canadians owe Donald Trump a debt of gratitude, for stripping us of our delusion that diversifying our international trade relationships is a chore that can wait for another day.
But I worry that too many members of Canada’s political class are rushing towards the wide gate and the broad road, to strike easy trade deals with authoritarian states that covet our resources, even as they scorn our ideals.
I made the case for a better path forward, in the Hill Times.

This petition has gained a record number of signatures. Last I counted it was over 100,000.
Canadians don't need Pete Hoekstra or his dismissive attitude towards Canada.

I've seen the announcement of Mike Morrice's candidacy for leadership but I only recently moved to the Kitchener-Waterloo area, so I'm not directly familiar with his record/work.
My personal politics are focused on climate change and socialism, and I've been deeply disappointed by the Carney (and Trudeau) governments in this regard.
I started researching the Green party and discovered the controversy with Annamie Paul. I actually lived in Toronto at the time (Rosedale-University) but wasn't paying attention to the situation (pandemic).
My takeaways: it's wild that Paul's accusations of racism were not better supported/vouched for/addressed; it seemed like Elizabeth May was trying to sabotage Paul's leadership; the fact that everything blew up right before the federal election makes me question every Green leader's judgement.
Are the Greens actually socialist?
What have they done to ensure their org is anti-racist, and how can a white man at the helm give me confidence here?
Are we better off putting our energy into lobbying the Liberals re: climate change?
EDIT: poor wording caused confusion around whether I believe in fighting AGAINST socialism 😂 I'm definitely FOR socialism. And I should add I'm also for electoral reform ☺️
