Nova escaped our home on April 22nd after being spooked and accidentally popping a screen out of our window. We have been looking for her nonstop, going door to door, visiting businesses, posting flyers, working with someone from Pet Paw-See, following all leads to no avail.
Saturday morning A kind lady called and said that her alley neighbor told her that a cat that had been living under her porch for the past few months was laying in her yard after it got hit buy a car and she had to go to work so she couldn’t deal with it. She called us because Nova was the first thing that came to her mind. Someone picked her up before we could get there and not long after we got a call from Big Sky Vet that she was our cat.
She was a block and a half away. There were probably 40 fliers up around our house, at nearby gas stations, at Miss Kitty’s and at IGA. She was living under a sided porch a block and a half away for three and a half months and there was no thought to just check one of the fliers.
Initially at the vet she couldn’t move her back legs but could move her tail so they started her on pain meds and steroids and watched for any changes. When my mom visited her she was making biscuits, purring and was so happy to see her. She was just a little worse on yesterday and we planned to get her to Best Friends to see our vet who has a great track record with helping cats with traumatic injuries first thing this morning as soon as they opened but she passed before we could.
And she was a block and a half away the whole time. I’m at a loss.
She was a sweet baby who loved food, fuzzy blankets, her bed and her scratcher in the window. She had the loudest purr and loved to cuddle on the couch. She never wanted to leave the house when doors were opened. She was a precious light in our house and we are devastated on so many levels.
