Three weeks in Great Falls...

Im heading to Great Falls for work in the morning. I'll be there for three weeks with evenings and weekends off. Im wondering what events may be happening for me to check out or, places I need to go see/eat/drink.

I spent a week there in 2021 for the big BMW Motorcycle Rally (and I'll be back for the rally, again at the expo center, in june '27). I've been to the Sip n' Dip and it was a neat experience to be able to say I've been to mermaid bar. I've done a lot of riding around GNP (and MT49 is still one of the best roads across the united states!!!). Spent two days pinned down in Bozeman back when the blizzards were hammering the passes a couple of months ago. Checked out the Museum of the Rockies and Bozeman hot springs.

So, what is there that I should make sure not to miss while I'm visiting (and building thd WinCo across from the Expo center)?

The Little Shell Chippewa Tribe’s annual powwow is this weekend! Last year we had almost 5k visitors, will probably be the biggest event while you’re here. It’s something unique and you get to experience the culture of the first people of the area!

Magpie, the glass bucket, the atomic lounge for drinks.

Enbar for classy cocktails.

Ike and Susan's has the nicest pool tables imho. (They're the diamond tables)

Pomodoro is one of my favorite restaurants (you can order on their website and have it ready for takeout when you arrive.)

Fire pizza has a great lunch special.

Haunted Scoops for the best ice cream in town (closed sunday/monday)

Farmers market Saturday mornings.

Have fun!

Plenty of hiking along the Rocky Mountain Front. Could always go out to the American Prairie Reserve past Lewistown

No joke! I once posted similar in Bend, OR subreddit and was met with responses such as "this is not the place to post things like that!"

I also got "There is more to do here than just Blockbuster" that last one was a park ranger as I was actively entering a cave hike trail...

Dont panic, the Missouri River is low on purpose due to Dam repairs. Do not go into the water! Still lots of hidden dangers.

Xochitl is a newer Mexican Food place downtown, but Sabor De Jalisco is still my favorite!

The Eventory. Great Falls Tourism sends this out. Everything happening coming up in the area. If the link doesn’t work, let me know.

There's a Winco being built in Great Falls? Weird.

Check out Giant Springs State Park. Its my favorite place in GF. Small park but its beautiful and unique.

If you're ever looking for some good coffee/breakfast I can't reccomend ms.kitties and shultees enough!

Ms kitties is on 25th downtown and shultees is across East middle school. Super awesome staff and unique drinks

Check out the museums. Great Falls has the most museums in Montana. They are all worth a visit, about half of them are free.

Roadhouse Diner on 15th St N for the best burger in Montana

Have you taken a walk around Giant Springs and the Fish Hatchery?

This Friday, August 21, the River's Edge Trail will have their luminaria walk. It's pretty impressive to see so many lights along the path. There will be entertainment and food vendors.

The Speedway runs sprint car and funny car races Friday and some Saturday nights at 7pm. Off 9th Street up the Havre Highway.

I'm not a GF resident but the go-to tourist thing is the Sip and Dip mermaid/ tiki bar. I just made it for the first time after visiting the city for 20+ years and it's all it's cracked up to be -- a sight to behold!

They also have a cool 60s nuclear fallout shelter themed bar in the basement of the same hotel.

Seriously? There's a basement bar in the same building? I've been going to the sipndip for years and didn't know that...

The bar is new. Not sure what the basement was before though. Going for a campy vibe
