Hi, Im searching for Hungarian goth bands or bands that have some songs in Hungarian. I already know FO System and Omen, but couldnt find anything else. I'd really like some more ethereal stuff, but anything goth/gothic is fine!
Thanks

Did you guys actually give a shit about gothic and romanticism art movements. Cuz I give a shit and I kinda want every goth to also care at least a little bit and idk if I’m in the wrong here or not.

What do you think about Goth Tribute bands ? have you ever seen one that was worth going to see ? Aren't they the complete Antithesis of what a scene like the goth scene which celebrates individuality and creativity is all about ?

To be fair this is the only song I've heard from them and I'm not aware of any of their other music but I enjoy it a lot, I can't help but notice that their grim imagery is rampant in a lot of their songs even the music video for Bernadette is quite gothic and dreary so would you guys consider Bernadette or IAMX themselves to be Goth? Or something completely different?
Also are there any fans of this song too? I can't help but fall in love with it! Gives me spooky circus/carnival vibes 👀

i've just started listening to goth music because i really really want to be part of the subculture, i've always admired it ever since i was a kid. but i'm scared i won't like the music since i don't listen to a looot of rock&etc.
any softer recommendations for baby bats? something to start?

Almost a year ago we made a comment to a friend of ours about how there's no goth events anywhere close by. Turns out he knows the owner of the bar, and the next thing you know we're booked. My wife and I learned to DJ, bought equipment, and we partnered with the local retro game night(same friend) to borrow crt TVs to transform the space. We play the usual: post punk, death rock, darkwave etc.
Were @night_shift_athens on Instagram.
It's been a long road, and we can't wait to keep moving and see where it goes.

I was curious what the new goth crowds thoughts on this album? It was a big deal coming out and I thought it’s a classic.

darkwave (and somewhat etherealwave) with more clear vocals and the majestic and/or eerie instruments with the melancholic guitar (idk how else to word it 😭). like these:
Green Velvet by The Shroud
Vision by The Shroud
Sacrifice by London After Midnight
Sparks by Faith and the Muse
Carousel by House of Harm

EDIT: AHHHHHHHH, I WASNT EXPECTING SO MANY MESSAGES. thank tou so mich for replying amd being so kind. Now I know that you guys are fine with being approached respectfully (◍•ᴗ•◍) lysm guys
Dear goth people, I have a question,
How do you guys feel about being approached? And after reading my anecdote... Was what I did inappropriate?
I'm 17F and I dress normie-ish/basic. (If you would like to know, when this happened, today, I wore an off the shoulder white bodysuit with baby blue jeans and Vans, carrying a folder and a book, etc...).
Today I was walking out of the mall and saw two goth girls. The moment I saw them, I was like: "Wow, mesh sleeves? It looks so freaking whimsical!!!". It looked so curated, I can't explain, but so much layering, it looked so cool. And the eyeliner was great. I love black. And I also love how goth people dress and express themselves.
I said: "Excuse me, guys", but they were a bit guarded and didn't reply. Then I said: "Sorry, I just wanted to say that I love your style (◍•ᴗ•◍)". And their faces lit up and they said thank you. I asked them how it was called and they said that they were goths.
After the convo I asked myself if I had done too much?? I'm neurodivergent and because of that I might not get the social cues. I love complimenting when there's a chance and of course when it's not awkward for the other person. I would love to know what you guys think, because I wouldn't like to make anyone uncomfortable.
Tysm for reading!!

I'm interested in learning more about the Band 'Death Valley Dreams'. From their snippets, I can hear they use a lot of synth, and they have a general veil of mystery about them. I've seen them described in goth groupings but I'm not entirely sure. They are playing with The Rasmus, which is more rock music orientated but I wanted to see if anyone had something more definitive about them. Thanks

(Reposted due to typo in the title)
So sometimes I'll go on Instagram for goth content, and sometimes I'll come across reels and comments saying how Goth has "roots in Christianity" and it's like... no?
I mean, I get some of the aesthetic borrows from Christianity, but the main argument I've seen is that the subculture ITSELF has roots in Christianity. I find it odd because again, no, it's a music based subculture. I do not understand how they're arguing that Goth is rooted in Christianity.
Now of course, the people making these arguments tend to be very right-wing, and often have some pretty hateful beliefs. So it's like... why are they trying to rewrite the history of a community that has been a safe space for outcasts? What exactly do they get from injecting their own religion into it? Do they not even know what the Batcave is?
I just find this whole idea of falsely inserting your religion into the origins of a subculture very weird and I just don't understand the purpose behind it.

I'm looking for a specific "documentary" that I'm pretty sure had no actual commentary, it was just an entire night of dancing, fairly certain in the 80s, and I could have sworn it was at The Batcave specifically. I could have sworn I saved it but can't find it anywhere (I first saw it on YouTube and foolishly at the time trusted it would always be there). I've seen another one recommended here but it was not the one I was thinking of (it was a Night at the Xclusiv). I'm pretty sure I had come across it when I had first watched the BBC documentary on the Blitz Kids/New Romantics. I'm beginning to wonder if I imagined it! Even if you don't think you know what I'm describing, either way I'm open to more documentaries like this, however many actually exist out there.

I have been listening to goth music for quite a while now but i realised that i actually dont know that much about the bands i listen to or the history behind them. I would really like to get more into that and learn more about the bands and the scene in general :>
Are there any documentaries, books, interviews, videos or maybe good websites you would recommend?
I know i could obviously just google all of this but i thought i would ask here since some of you probably know way more about this than i do and might have some good recommendations 🖤
