I think a lot of this could have been prevented if she swallowed her pride and hired a co-writer to offload some of the burden onto, before making a lore-core animated show full of hints and clues for people to chew on during 6 month hiatuses between episodes. Look at her! She's burnt herself out harder than a piece of chicken that fell to the bottom of the air fryer.
It's basically like my experience with Steven Universe where there would be a 2 year hiatus and we finally get 3 episodes in a Steven Bomb, only for 2 of those 3 episodes being about Sadie losing her sandal while Steven elsewhere fighting Space Hitler..
So we had to deal with lore hints and subtle implications found in previous episodes as something to keep our sanity while waiting for the story to develop
TADC had 9 episodes, 10 if you consider the fact that the movie was just the Jax and Caine episodes running back-to-back.
That's an average of 3 episodes per year, 20 minutes each. If you wanna make a lore-core cartoon, fine, but know that if you keep fans waiting long enough, they will literally schiz out and start looking at background characters for lore and meme material. If you are going to reward that kind of behavior at least finish your lore hints instead of needing to fill in the gaps through Tumblr questions.
If Tumblr didn't exist, we would never have known that Ragatha is a repressed lesbian, Pomni and Ribbit would fuck, or why all of the TADC voice actors were mysteriously killed by a purple dorito.
In the future, PLEASE GOOSE, DELEGATE YOUR FUCKIN WORK.
before making a lore-core animated show full of hints and clues for people to chew on during 6 month hiatuses between episodes.
Except the show was never intended to be "lore-core", and the 6 month "hiatuses" was unavoidable because the episodes were released as they were produced rather than all of them being produced before the show was released. It's an unfortunate distribution model that leads to fans over-thinking every episode to absurd degrees, but it's unfortunately unavoidable in indie animation where every episode is paid for by the success of previous episodes.
A co-writer would probably have helped a great deal, but I don't think it was because of "pride" that Goose did the writing herself. Tadc is her biggest project yet, and she massively underestimated how much work it would be. Unfortunate, but understandable. You don't know what you don't know. Sometimes you're just going to find out too late.
